10 Villas in Hvar Island: Best hotel deals for 2023

May 19, 2023 Lashaunda Abraham

Claiming to be the sunniest spot in all of Europe, the Croatian island of Hvar is the perfect destination for tourists seeking the beauty of Mediterranean beaches without the crowds associated with more well-known destinations. Pathways lined with lavender vines lead to secluded coves, small fishing villages and local vineyards, and ferries and catamarans carry visitors across the calm, blue waters to the surrounding islands, all worthy of exploration.

Wonderful little B and B in Stari Grad in a beautiful old building with impressive rooms and fantastic views

Reviewed By TravelswithMrH

The Hotel Villa Apalon is a wonderful little B and B style hotel on the edge of Stari Grad old town. It’s in an excellent location to walk to Stari Grad old town centre (2 mins) and the many harbour front restaurants and bars. The hotel is small but it is in a beautiful old building tastefully decorated and the rooms are HUGE! Great air con, comfortable beds and a shower to die for! The breakfast is probably the only slight thing that we found a little lacking but to be honest it was adequate with fruit, yoghurt and pastries - there were some cooked options, scrambled egg and avocado etc but they just weren’t really our taste. Special mention must go to their amazing staff who were so helpful and friendly making sure we had enough in the room, giving us advice for dinner and even giving us a lift when we need help to get to the ferry. The staff were faultless and a credit to the hotel. Please don’t be taken in by bigger hotels outside of Stari Grad (we nearly were) this place is a gem and deserves its ranking as number 1 place to stay in Stari Grad

Apologies to the loyal fans of Villa Stella Mare for my review - it's unfair to keep this place a secret. My family and I lucked on to Villa Stella Mare by chance as we looked for a vacation location within driving distance of Vienna. Of note, many of the guests were repeat explaining this is year 2,3,4+ at the property (see above - sorry). The details: Great views from the entire property. Super clean. Infinity pool (also with amazing views). Super friendly family team. Our room (Captains Room) is perfect for a small family. Location is fantastic - quiet at night and close enough to Hvar for activities when needed. The breakfast is perfect. The lunch and dinners are delicious. On site parking with cover (not a given in Hvar). A team that goes above and beyond. My 7 year old son - who had a number of points of improvement ideas for the Le Meridien Split at the start of our trip, also rates Villa Stella Mare 5 stars. :)

Villa Town Gate

Villa Town gate offers you an absolute premier location in historic Hvar, only 20 meters from main town square, at the main gate in the 15th-century city walls. Passing through the old Town Gate and entering medieval Hvar, let yourself be charmed by its unique and authentic atmosphere. The city walls enclose the old part of the town and have 4 gates. Villa Town Gate is located at Porta maestra, the main gate, through which the road leads from the square to the aristocratic part of the city and towards the fortress.

Good hotel, located just steps away from the main square and port.

This property felt more like an apartment rental rather than a traditional hotel. The room was a small apartment which consisted of a dining area, kitchen (which I don't think was fully functional) a separate bathroom and a spacious bedroom. We truly enjoyed all of the space that we had...definitely a pleasant surprise! The room had a good A/C unit which was a delight as Hvar was rather warm on the days we visited. The location is excellent as it is just a few steps from the main square and a 5 minute walk to the port, it was very easy to find after we arrived by ferry. For those who have issues climbing stairs this property is not for you. We were on the top floor and the stairs were very narrow after a certain point. Please avoid if you have issues with this as the property doesn't have a lift. For us this was fine..although carrying our luggage up and down those stairs was definitely a challenge! The one aspect that prevents me from giving this place a full 5 star review is that the WiFi signal was extremely poor. It was very difficult for us to connect to the WiFi and a lot of the time we had to use our personal data plans just to access the internet. This is something that needs to be worked on...Despite this, I would definitely return to this property and recommend it to other travelers...The room is good, the location is ideal and the prices were more than reasonable!

Villa Perka

Beautiful, quiet, traditional stone villa of 350 square meters, that sits on the property of over 3000 square meters with stunning views over the amazing Adriatic sea. It is located 12 km east from Hvar town, at the foot of the island's highest peak St. Nicholas, on it's southern and most attractive side with steep and sunny slopes of the island where the most seductive sandy shores, pebbly coves and sun-fried rocks are to be found. It's superb, tranquill and secluded location in the heart of Hvar's most important vineyard region is ideal for those looking to experience the authentic and simple delights of Croatia - sea, tranquility and wonderful views, to name but a few. Villa was built in 1940es by our grandparents who were both born here on the island. When first built it was considered to be in the outskirts of the village, but over the last 30+ years, the village has pushed out to the south, to it's coastal part and we are now right in the middle, between the northern- old part and southern- new part of the village, as the only property in the area set on such a large piece of land. Villa Perka first opened it's door to the guests in 1960es. Since than it has undergone several renovations and expansions with the biggest one taking place in 2007. when the entire inside of the house was reconstructed and converted into 3 comfortable flats. On the top of the house the two panthouse flats with separate entrance were built for the owners who live in the villa all year round. On the ground floor of the villa there are two units , Lavender and Lantana. Lavender is one bedroom unit consisting of one double bedroom with hardwood flooring and king size bed, bathroom with hotube, kitchen + living room and larder. It openes onto a beautifully flowered L-shaped porch equipped with wooden furniture. The massive stone posts supporting the porch roof are made from world famous stone from the neighboring island of Brac. Lantana is two bedroom unit with two spacious bedrooms with hardwood flooring , each with large, en-suit bathroom. Cozy kitchen, dining and living area openes onto a flowered, spacious terrace. One half of the terrace is roofed to protect you from unexpected rain and direct sunlight and the other one open, so that at night you can enyoj looking at the starry sky. On the first floor of the villa there's four bedroom unit Bougainvillea with separate entrance. It is the spacious 150 square meters flat with 4 double bedrooms, each with en-suit bathroom, kitchen, larder, living+dining area and fire/barbecue place. Living and dining area open onto the roofed, stone fenced terrace equipped with wooden furniture offering spectacular views. Next to this one there's another roofed terrace with comfortable rattan furniture ideal place for afternoon tea or coffe breaks. One of the bedrooms even has it's own kitchen and the entrance to it's private stone-paved roofed terrace as well as open air terrace with large, wooden parasol and wooden furniture to enjoy fantastic views. In 2015/2016 the reconstruction of the villa surrounding took place. The entire surrounding has been fenced with the stone wall and wide gate. Just as you enter the gate you arrive at the parking lot for 5-6 cars, shadowed by old pine trees. Only few stairs down, at the lower level, there's 160 square meters children's playground equipped with the slide, two swings, ladders and sea saw. The pathway to the west leads to the outside common area , the highlight of the villa which boasts 10x4 m swimming pool, a sun deck furnished with sun loungers, porch with dining area, bbq and summer kitchen for preparing and enjoying meals there on the terrace surrounded by olive groves and rich Mediterranean vegetation. The entire space is super private with no neighbours overlooking, ideal for those wishing to relax and feel close to the nature. The privacy and above all the sense of ,,homeliness" will make your stay at Villa Perka a vacation that bears repeating!

Villa Perka is a real Paradise on Earth for those who appreciate beautiful countryside, a bit of luxury as well as kids' facilities at one place... and still want to enjoy peace and quiet holiday at the seaside. The olive trees, the herb garden, the sea view ... AND the pool and the playground. You don't get many place like this in Croatia. Only get ready for a bit more demanding terrain to get around, eg. in case you use the pram and prefer a promenade-style walks. Thank you very much, will be happy to come back.

Tucked away in one serene corner of Hvar is this idealic haven Villa Domus Marini. Split level accommodation it offered the 13 of us wonderful and hospitable living overlooking one of the coves in Hvar. Terraces afford a wonderful view of the Adriatic in the morning with your cuppa tea. It is walking distance from the old town center and also from the Ferry drop - off and pick - up points which makes for an ideal location. And with the multiple grocery stores within a minutes walk it is perfect for amenities shopping too. Lastly, the old gentleman and lady that stay at the house were also very sweet and hospitable and even helped with our luggage to the ferry when it was raining. A big thank you for that. I would definitely love to visit the Villa Domus Marini again soon.

Villa Marijam

Fairly peaceful considering near to Hvar

Reviewed By Sarha R

Villa marijam is in a good location if you don't want to be in the buzz of Hvar town, which we didn't, but there is not a lot going on around it! The room was comfortable, although very hot, no air conditioning and the fan wasn't really up to much. In August you need the air conditioning especially if you have the lovely sea facing room that we did. Beautiful view with a nice balcony with sun all day long. The bathroom is very modern and the bed comfortable. There is shared kitchen downstairs, but it would have been nice to have a fridge and kettle in the room. The owner is lovely and helpful. The restaurant 3 doors down the road is excellent for breakfast and the Peka in the evening was fantastic. The beach opposite is a bit of a walk down a track and really not fantastic, not very busy, but not very comfortable! The best place we found was at the beach bar Falko which is not far. You can hire a beach bed on the rocks! very nice. All in all a comfortable room (not apartment) near to the sea and a 20 minute walk into Hvar.

Unfair offer

"Sea view room" from Booking in reality became a "parking view room", not very clean, not fresh... Lamp under the kitchen side was broken and owner said "it is enough upper light for you". Lamp on the terrace side was not working and I asked to change it. They are cheating people because writing "sea view room" and put 2nd floor view for the 1st floor rooms, but the truth is" no sea view for the first floor. Photos are old just after repair bit reality is different. Overrated offer, possible to find better variant cheaper.
