10 Top-Rated Villas in Colorado

April 18, 2023 Carley Gatson

Colorado is home to no less than twenty-six ski resorts such as those in Vail and Breckenridge; other winter activities include snowboarding, sledding, sleigh rides, snow hiking and snowmobiling. The state is blessed with national parks, grasslands and forests where in warmer weather you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking or rock climbing. Wildlife abounds, from bears to moose and raccoons to wolverines. More interested in local history? Head for either the Ute Indian Museum or the Koshare Indian Museum, and don't miss the forts such as Fort Garland and Bent's Old Fort. For a complete change, why not take a ride in a hot air balloon from South Park Valley or Boulder and admire Colorado's picturesque landscape from above?

A little trouble at first getting our keys, then they didn't work. But after that it was a great location. Quiet at night which I loved. At 10:00 the kids go to bed. The adults go to bed. The bartenders go to bed. The dogs go to bed. Walk to the gondola in the morning. Great skiing. Might want to make your own breakfast and lunch as mountain side is expensive. Comfy beds and a hot tub outside. Lots of variety on the mountain.

No generators

Reviewed By jennifermJ6148IJ

The fact the power had gone out for at least 6 hours during a “1 hour rolling blackout” with no warning or notification of the power outage during 10° weather. No heat and no power. My husband went to the front office to inquire about the situation and found the front office had power but the condos didn’t have generator back-up was stressful especially since I am a disabled veteran with medical devices that NEED power. When we asked about compensation for the time without power, was told that would not happen, even though when my husband went and talked with the people at the front desk about the situation, he was informed we would receive some compensation for the outage. The temps were below freezing, roads were horrendous so couldn’t drive anywhere and had already paid for a service that was not being provided during a time. After we get back home, 2 charges appears on our card that shouldn’t be there. There wasn’t any check out instructions located anywhere in the room and numerous attempts were made to call the front desk for instructions and no answer was ever received. I would not recommend this property. During the power outage, many went to their vehicles to try and warm.

My tween had a great time, thus so did I.

Reviewed By RachelMooreRS

Mom of a 12-yr old... need a say more? ? Why yes, I will, because for any parent or guardian looking to create a ski experience that allows for convenient breaks, hot cocoa infusions, and making the whole donning/removing of ski equipment easier, staying at River Run Village is the best way to go. My daughter and I went up for a two-day ski trip and stayed at Silver Mill 8307. We each had our own bedroom, plus as the mom I took the one with the private bathroom. We brought our own groceries, which all fit into the full-size refrigerator, plus the kitchen has all of the appliances you need to make every meal if you so choose. But let me tell you about the ski amenities, because that's the best part. We were able to store all of our equipment - helmets, boots, skis, poles, goggles - in our allocated locker on the first floor. So we'd get on our ski clothes, take the elevator down to the lobby, head to the locker room right there, grab our gear, and put it all on (minus skis, of course) by the warmth of a fire. Then we basically walked out the closest door and in three minutes we're in line at the gondola. Returning to the condo for lunch and at the end of the day was just as easy. Why is this awesome for me and for you, too? Minimal grumbling from the tween! Skiing takes a decent amount of effort just to get to the lifts, and keeping my kid's motivation at acceptable levels for what becomes a pretty expensive outing is why staying at River Run Village is WORTH IT.

Bait-and-switch through priceline.com, tripadvisor.com, and tingo.travel

Reviewed By Robert B

The room was fine, but it wasn't what I booked. I searched through Kayak.com, which sent me to priceline.com; I picked the condo I wanted (Aspen Ridge Condominiums - a 5 minute walk from the meeting I was attending), which sent met to tripadvisor.com. I entered my info and payment there, and it was still Aspen Ridge Condominiums (I have screen shots and printouts), but it was actually booked through tingo.travel. The confirmation said "Mountain House Neighborhood by Keystone Resort", but the address was the same as Aspen Ridge Condominiums, and I'd seen several places in the area listed under more than one name. When I showed up, they told me that the two are not the same, that I was in Mountain House, and that Aspen Ridge was full. (The two condos are on opposite sides of US 6, but have the same address somehow.) So now I went from a 5 minute walk to a 10 minute drive - not useful during a 15-20 minute break. I called tingo.travel after I got back, and they blamed TripAdvisor, but there's apparently no way to contact TripAdvisor, so I'm out of luck. I could have booked a hotel down the hill, in Dillon, and been right next to restaurants, stores, FedEx Office, etc., and still been about a 10 minute drive away, for less than 2/3 the price of the condo. Not happy with priceline.com, TripAdvisor, or tingo.travel, but there's no one I can talk to about it. Since TripAdvisor keeps sending me e-mails to rate Aspen Ridge, I thought I'd try to warn others. (Mountain House was OK, by the way, but not great. Maybe better if you're skiing. Stay in Dillon, instead.)

Great town home right across from the pool

Reviewed By aschindel17

My family of 5 stayed here for 6 nights for our family vacation. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms. I have 2 teenage boys and a 10 year old daughter. My husband and I enjoyed the master bedroom at the top of the stairs, with a nice sized bathroom. We had a walk in shower and a whirlpool tub. My daughter had a nice sized bedroom at the back of the town home with her own bathroom. The boys had bunk beds and the bathroom that was shared with the living area of the house. Nice kitchen, all the appliances and cooking utensils that we needed. Nice living room and a small deck. The town home was right across from the pool. The kids enjoyed swimming every day despite it only being about 65 degrees outside. The pool was heated.
