10 Top-Rated Specialty lodgings in New Mexico

April 19, 2023 Madelene Haan

With its rich cultural heritage from Native American and Spanish settlers, New Mexico has been both a Spanish colony and a Mexican colony, and still retains a strong individual identity within the United States. The landscape is breathtaking, the food incredible, and there is a thriving cultural scene, all of which makes New Mexico, and Santa Fe in particular, a great place all year long.

I booked this because it was new and figured it would be cleaner than an order hotel. Had a drink in the bar and the bartender didn’t know how to make drinks. Was also u professional. The woman who worked the front desk was hanging at the bar and talking with a couple of girls. I finished my SEI k and left.

The Rustique Bungalows

So tiny, the wash basin is in the kitchenette -

Reviewed By Sharon S

The bungalow was uncomfortably cramped, even for two normal-sized people. The queen bed was comfortable enough. The rustic table and chairs on the porch were adequate for sitting out under the Ponderosas - until the cigar smoke from the too- close porch of the next cabin wafted over. In addition, the online posted price that Friday was $119. She quoted $130 over the phone - but the final total was $152. I do not recommend the bungalows - tho’ the boutique seems to be popular.

Amazing BnB

We absolutely loved our stay at the Serenity House. Rebekah was there to check us in and meet us with sparkling waters. She has done an incredible job with the place, one of the most artfully and loving done home restorations I have seen. She has managed to retain all of the charm of the historic house with a pizazz its own. And she was a very knowledgeable and gracious host. Made the place feel incredibly welcoming. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone coming through Silver City. One of my favorite BnBs I have stayed at any where around the world!

Typical fantastic Army hospitality

Reviewed By Pam B

We stayed at the base hotel 3 nights as we celebrated our son in law's rank promotion. When we arrived late, our room had not been serviced but the staff quickly set everything to rights. At first glance, the complimentary breakfast seems scant but there was actually a huge variety of food on offer, served very efficiently in a small space. The large suites are very comfortable, although (as with most base hotels) the place could use some updating.

Not a bad room. It had a living room bathroom and a bedroom. The room had a decent fridge/freezer with a coffee pot, along with 2 tv’s. Price per night was reasonable. Laundry room was clean and inviting. Location is not the greatest but it is what it is. Came out here for business/training so I can’t really complain. Hotel staff was very polite.

Lots to like ...

As others have mentioned, it is really nice to be able to drive up and park at your casita & many have private patios. Our bed & pillows were extremely comfortable. The furniture décor was impressively done. The grounds are beautiful with the courtyard. The breakfasts are delicious. The location is easy walking to Old Town and easy access to other places of interest. Our only downfall were the squeaky floors in our casita. If someone got up during the night, you knew it! Overall, we loved the place and would stay again, but it would be in a different casita.

My husband whispered, “Does this remind you of an episode of the Twilight Zone?” Dawn “checked” us in, as in, she walked us through a dark bar area, where a pair of jeans and boots lay tossed aside on a chair. Followed into our room by Buddy the Boxer, the room itself was clean, but shabby, surrounded by windows which led to extended sleeping/game areas where I assumed other guests would be hanging out. I asked to move into a room upstairs, which she had offered. The room was nicer but you could still hear the TV blaring through the walls. The door had no lock. No TV in the room. We were the only guests that night. We opted to get back in our car and sleep there if necessary. I guess this place may work if you’re young, broke and traveling in a pack. Dave didn’t acknowledge our existence and actually changed the channel on the tv when my husband sat to watch the game with him. The vibe was weird. Buddy the Boxer tried to leave with us. Bizarre.
