Culture Boutique Hotel

Unique.

Reviewed By Pedro Z

This is a unique boutique hotel. To my knowledge, the only one of its kind in Springfield. Personally, I am tired of the cookie cutter, sterile, boring, mega chain low value, budget hotels with nothing nearby except more cookie cutter, sterile, boring..... I admire and support locally established businesses with a "story" like this one and the diversity of the many restaurants nearby. Yes, it is not perfect, and it is not meant to be. That is exactly what makes it shine. This is for the adventurous, the daring, the bohemian, the supporter of local creativity, hard work, community and initiative. The room I stayed in was the Pokhara. Large, high ceiling, shiny wood floor. Per info, some of the original wood from the remodel gutting out has been recycled and used to make furniture (bed frame, tables, shelves, closets, etc.). The king size bed is divine and manufactured locally ! The room is equipped with a sink, mini fridge and microwave. The highlight was the hot water kettle and the V60 brew filter for preparing the gourmet coffee provided. I have traveled quite extensively and never seen this type of brewer. I was impressed. The coffee was great. Looking for the same on Amazon ! Periodic noise from nearby railroad is a negative but it is part of the "experience" and I quickly got use to it. Some recommendations would be to provide a work table lamp and sound reducing windows. The diversity of the many restaurants nearby along the historic Commercial Street is outstanding. And they are authentic (Peruvian, Dutch, Cuban, Lebanese). There is something for everyone and all within walking distance. The historic downtown area is immaculate and really well developed. Free 2 hr street parking. No meters. Parking is on street adjacent to hotel and was not an issue. The hotel has a coffee shop that makes a delicious Breakfast Sandwich and "real" coffee. The espresso is the real thing. They even have light lunch/dinner options. It is run separately from the hotel. Friendly attentive staff. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. I felt safe, comfortable, in a special place and will definitely return.

We stayed 2 nights. Before we even arrived Shelby called us and asked our preference of upstairs or downstairs. She thought up would be quiet for us. We were greeted by Christy on our arrival. They have totally redone everything! It’s very nice. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and we very much would stay there again! I can’t wait to see the Mercantile portion once it’s done!!

Clean, comfortable, convenient, and an amazing host! You won’t regret staying here!

This place was amazing! It was welcoming, comfortable and very clean. The two bedrooms are upstairs, but we didn’t see the other guests the entire time. The deck has a picturesque view and is a great way to start your day or relax in the evening. We visited several wineries during our trip. Stone Hill winery was our favorite and just down the street, an easy walk away and the vineyard can be viewed from Jim’s deck. We traveled six hours to get here and Jim stayed up until midnight to show us his lovely home and make sure we were comfortable. Just a few short hours later, there was freshly baked bread waiting for us at breakfast. A great place to stay and we will definitely book again. If you stay, please tell Jim hello from the Brown’s from Kansas.

The entire Motel is infested with roaches, in the so called lobby there's broken machines, dog poop and pee all over the floor, the staff doesn't speak English and will not give you necessities like towels and bedding and if they do it's dirty and stained up, garbage every where outside, you get 1 pillow per bed/ 1 towel no matter how people you have in a room, the toilets are broken, the TV's are broken, drugs and prostitution at all hours of the day and night. This motel isn't worth a penny.

Ambassador Building 41

Reviewed By GEORGIA P

This resort has many types of units. When I see an Ambassador come available for a reasonable cost, I am excited to book. I hadn't been here in several years. The unit I got was not as nice as in the past. For example, older carpeting instead of hardwood, no recliners, no garbage disposal. But it was still a very nice lock- off 1 bedroom joined to a 2 bedroom. It was a rainy, cold week for May and we enjoyed the electric fireplace in the cool mornings. The beds were comfortable. The couch was not. The internet was very weak and the tv's small. We were not able to stream. The back deck was nice. Looked into a private, wooded area. The indoor pool was large and very nice with a hot tub. The golf course was in good condition. I would return if I could get an Ambassador unit.

Exceptional

We found this place last minute as we rode the Katy Trail. It was perfect. The house was comfortable, well appointed, and has everything we needed. There is a grocery store a short bike ride away and the breakfast was remarkable, but the host was exceptional. Joey is helpful, friendly, and a delight to interact with. She is the perfect host. We will plan our next Katy Trail trip around staying here again.
