Great family friendly hotel

Our first visit to Orlando and the Hyatt regency grand cypress. First impressions were good, the hotel is huge and it’s quite an impressive foyer/building when you arrive. Check-in was speedy and friendly. The room was nice, good bathroom and well furnished, though there was a small issue that there was not enough storage for the 4 of us (2 adults & 2 children), we coped but it was a pain. The breakfast was awesome and the pool area was fabulous, the kids loved it. There are lots of activities that you can do that are all included too, pitch and putt, climbing wall and kayaks… oh and bikes! The service round the pool was excellent and although the drinks were expensive, they were good, as was the food at the pool bar. Location wise… it is great for all the parks… Disney and universal were close and there were loads of fantastic restaurants nearby too. Ubers were really easy and great value. The staff at the hotel were really friendly as was pretty much everyone we met in the US.

This Waldorf has good hardware but weak software ( service). As a former hotel executive I could not tell if it’s due to being in Orlando or if it’s the management. We had issues w our reservation, the room we received and numerous instances of staff displaying a surprisingly apathetic and unhelpful attitude.

Great location, fun atmosphere

We chose this hotel because it’s at the end of the Skyliner. We had asked for rooms in the 60’s but got put on the 4th floor in the 80’s. Our room looked over the parking lot, but being on the 4th floor it was nice and quiet. We had two people in each of two rooms. Our room had a bathtub/shower that had a dual shower head, which was great. The shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are in pump dispensers attached to the wall. There was also bar soap if you wanted that, but no moisturizer. There is an iron and board, magnifying mirror, and a hair dryer in the room. The other room only had a shower stall. There was plenty of shelf space in the room. There is a small fridge in the coffee bar area. Creamer, sugar, and tea bags are supplied, along with insulated cups with lids. They don’t clean the rooms every day, but we asked the maid for more towels and I gave her a bag of garbage and our used towels. She also gave me a big bag of coffee supply refills. It’s a short walk to the lobby, food court, gift shop area. The pool was great and the Skyliner was a fabulous addition to the transportation system. The breakfast wasn’t half bad and not crazy pricing like some places. You could get hot entrees as well as fruit and baked goods. You could bring your own oatmeal and just use the microwave in the food court. We didn’t buy the refill cup, but it’s a good deal. I saw some comments about the AC, but we had ours turned down to 64 with no problem. We would definitely stay here again, just not between April-October……it’s too darn hot and humid!!

Five-star cost for three-star service

I have just stayed in Jambo House for ten nights with six other members of my family. We booked the more expensive Savannah View rooms for the experience of seeing animals close up from our balconies, and it was certainly novel to view them in this way. But the service level in this hotel is very poor, particularly when it comes to food provision. First of all, there is no room service - the old “because of Covid” excuse is now wearing very thin. There are two places to eat; the Boma restaurant food is excellent, but extortionately priced and always difficult to book. On our last evening we managed to get a booking for seven of us (5 adults and 2 children) and we were charged $472 for the buffet meal. The Mara cafe is okay, but the selection on offer isn’t great and it is the same thing every day. The other places where presumably one used to be able to eat are closed. There is also no attempt to attract guests to stay and socialise in the hotel; the bar is tiny and not open much. Servicing of rooms is shambolic; you are told, on arrival, that rooms are serviced every two days, but this doesn’t really happen. My overall impression was that Disney did not want guests to stay in the hotel during the day, rather get everyone out into the parks spending as much money as possible. Therefore I feel, like many people I suspect, that despite the constant phrase “Have a magical day” the company’s phrase should be “Have an expensive day”. In the interests of fairness, the shuttle bus service to the parks is absolutely excellent. But Disney really needs to rethink its whole company policy and give customers much better value for money.

my favorite

This is one of my favorite Disney hotels. The reason is the short walk to the buses and the food court, plus the hand dipped ice cream rather than just the mickey bars.. The pool is smaller and with less panache but there are plenty of umbrellas and I was able to get one every single day of my stay. When will Disney realize that there are rarely any one in the sun drenched lawn chairs but rather every one is huddled under the umbrellas. Rooms were standard and comfortable and I especially liked the glass shower doors. Also the food was very good unlike the okay food at the moderate hotels we stayed in previously. Good price, good food, easy transportation and hand dipped ice cream.

Very Impressive Disney Resort

Reviewed By John V

I spent five nights at the Coronado Springs Resort in order to attend a conference. My last Disney hotel stay was at the All Star Sports Resort over 20 years ago. The hotel grounds are amazing, it really feels as if you've been transported to the Southwest. I had a Casita room, which was pretty nice, and much larger than the All Star Rooms. Most rooms at the Coronado Springs are set up motel-style, with exterior corridors. The only exception are the Tower Rooms. I appreciated the double sinks in the bathroom. Housekeeping cleaned the room every other day. Be prepared to do a lot of walking at this resort. The main pool features a Mayan Temple and water slide, and is a lot of fun. You may have some trouble finding a lounge chair during busy periods, but Staff always seemed to have activities for the kids. I walked by the quieter Casita pool numerous times, but didn't use it myself. One night I had dinner at Toledo on the top floor of the tower. The food was excellent and so were the views. My only disappointment was the Mercado Food Court. Breakfast and lunch were entirely medicore and quite expensive. The prices at Toledo weren't significantly higher, yet the food was so much better. There are 4 bus stops at the Coronado Springs, and buses ran pretty frequently to DIsney parks. Although I came mainly for the conference, I definitely had a great time at the Coronado Springs and would return.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

Beautiful Atmosphere!

Reviewed By 482kristinv

The Port Orleans French Quarter is a beautiful hotel! We loved our stay here. It truly feels like you are in New Orleans with the beautiful buildings, landscaping, music, and food. The grounds are so amazing with beautiful flowers, huge trees, and these little areas with fountains and benches tucked away on each street. We ate the Float Works many times and took advantage of the $20 refillable mugs, those are a lifesaver especially with kids. We were constantly filling them up, getting water, and our coffee in the morning. We definitely enjoyed the beignets from the lobby on several occasions. The room was perfect, it’s not huge but was so nice to come back to at night. This hotel isn’t the biggest at Disney which makes it nice to walk around and your room is never far, which is especially good when you are tired from a long day in the park. We did do the nightly campfire one night which was fun, would have loved to enjoy the movie night but unfortunately missed it. All of the cast members were super nice! A really great amenity is the boat to Disney springs, such a nice little ride. Overall, I loved it there and would definitely go back!
