Fantastic Holiday...

Reviewed By BlueNoseAngel2902

Our Holiday was for 10 days (late May) & included 2 Adults (Grandparents in a Maris Room), 2 Adults & 2 Children (9&11yrs) in a Village Suite. Plenty of room in both for each Family. Hotel is in a lovely setting, just across the road from the beach (you will need to walk up a little to a useable/more sandy part of the beach). We upgraded our family of 4 to All-Inclusive on the 1st day & with a 9 & 11yr old it was well worth it! Included in the room price is upto 90mins per day use of the Free Spa amenities, Infinity Pool, Sauna etc...well worth it if you have someone to watch any children (under 16's not permitted). The hotel is quite secluded so you do need the local Taxi/Bus service to get you to the local towns for any daytime/night-time exploring, there is nothing near to walk to for a meal out/drink at night etc... but they are very frequent & as of May 2022 you still need a mask on the buss or they will not permit you to travel. Buffet Breakfast/Lunch & Dinner (depending on your Rate) is available inside & Lunch is also served outside at the Pool Bar (table service), food was excellent with lots of choice. *Food/Drink choices can be accessed via the App (QR code to be scanned at Bar). There were so many onsite amenities & for all ages...great to do with the Animation Team when they do the daily activities (except a Sunday, thats their day off). *Timetable of activities is also available on the App which was helpful to keep track for the kids...& Adults :-) The Animation Team were fantastic, they added a bit of extra fun to each day & it didn't stop with just the day...they hosted the night entertainment too for the Children's Mini-Club (my kids were just a little too old for the music), after this the team played modern music for them to dance & have fun. Then the night entertainment would begin, either from the Animation Team OR an outside group of performers...either way, it kept us entertained into the night. A big thank you too all the staff at the Hotel, from initially meeting the fab Reception Staff/Room Cleaning, to the main Pool Bar & main hotel indoor Restaurant...& to Fathi & his Animation Team who we spent alot of time with, Marko, Aliya, Maya, Carlota, Micha & Mille :-) We mainly did the activities with Marko who was fantastic both during the day & at night keeping us all entertained :-) Thank You. Overall the holiday was a huge hit with my family...my kids are hinting VERY HARD that they want to go back!

Excellent time at Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro Villages

Reviewed By HCScotty

This hotel, and more specifically it’s staff was excellent. Exceeded our expectations. It is located right on the beach (which is stunning with shallow crystal clear water), with dining and areas to have a drink looking out to the sea. The property is very well maintained, with gardeners and guys repainting, as well as frequently cleaning of the pathways etc. our room was a good size and had very good a/c and was cleaned daily (thank you to the maids). We ate dinner at the restaurant 5 out of the 7 nights and while it was a buffet, the food was great quality and there was a lot of variance each night which made it interesting. While it got busier through the week as it was half term, it never felt like there was more guests than the hotel could accommodate. The staff deserve a special mention for both their friendliness and their hard work. They were always attentive and happy to help, making it a great experience. As noted, the two outside pools are not heated but I didn’t find this a problem and neither did our kids. Thoroughly recommend and will likely return at some point in the near future.

Appalling attitude.

Arrived at 12 noon. Allocated one of two rooms booked which was fine as we were early. Decided to eat in Casa Nostra hotel restaurant and ordered four meals and a jug of Sangria. After 25 minutes no food or drink arrived. I spoke with a second member of staff as our original server was busy showing her friend photographs on her phone. When I questioned where our food and drinks were he asked if I was sure I had ordered! Anyway five minutes later our Sangria arrived. Twenty minutes later still no food so then went to find the manager who very dismissively couldn’t explain what had happened but did find our order and amongst other rude arrogant and dismissive comments asked ‘do you want the food or not’. Suffice to say we said no and left. Will not be eating in the hotel restaurants from now on if this attitude is indicative of management. Sadly for us this has spoiled the weekend as there are very few nice restaurants nearby but at least the staff are nice appreciates the business.

Absolute disgrace of a hotel masquerading as a five star

Reviewed By Jane K

When booking a five-star hotel, one is accustomed to a certain-level of service and fit-for-purpose accommodations. Yes, the view is nice. Yes, the restaurant may be their only saving grace. However, the rest of the hotel, including their staff are an utter disappointment. First, to start off with the accommodations. The hotel looks decent from the outside but could definitely do with a makeover. The interior of the hotel is quite dated and seems to be trapped in the 1990's. For a beachfront hotel, the lighting and interior decoration is very dark. The hallways are poorly lit and the rooms have very heavy wood panelling and furniture (very chipped and run-down looking). There is a musty smell in the air and we overall did not enjoy being in our rooms. Furthermore, our first evening, there was a really whiny sound in our room for which we had to call the engineer. The engineer then proceeded to bang on our air conditioner vent until the whining noise went away... A very bizarre and disconcerting incident. Our coffee machine was also broken and there was no provision of any water beyond the first day. Basic things that one expects were completely lost in this disappointing accommodation. Second, the service. The service was probably one of the worst forms of hospitality that I have received whilst staying at an 'alleged' five star hotel. The staff are quite snobbish and condescending. There is zero drive to ever go above and beyond, if anything, the staff act as though your enquiry or request is such a great disturbance in their day. For instance, we wanted to reserve some time at the spa. We asked the front desk if we could reserve a time and they told us that they were unable to help and we had to go downstairs to the spa to speak to someone. We navigated down to the spa to find that there was no one present at the desk. After waiting for about 10 minutes, we filled out a form with our enquiry for a reservation, including our phone number / room number for confirmation. Over the remaining course of our stay, we heard nothing back. In general, any type of question or feedback to the staff was received with derision and condescension. If you read some of the more negative reviews of this hotel, you will note the nasty replies by the hotel and their inability to admit any fault or wrongdoing. I'm sure I will get a snarky reply to this review by the hotel as well. They claim that excellent service is forefront, but we found this to be quite an untrue statement. The final nail in the coffin for us was one evening when the hotel was celebrating their 25th anniversary. The hotel decided to close off the pool bar and the restaurant for the day (which we can understand). However, loud music and fireworks blared past midnight when we had an early flight to catch the next day. The lack of consideration for their guests (as if we were second tier citizens compared to their party attendees) was palpable and severely disappointing. I think if I had to really sum-up the core of my discontent. It is the fact that there was a loss of any care for their guests or any level of anticipation of needs. Everything is just a little more difficult. Toiletries are missing (and you are required to call the front desk for provision of anything outside of soap / shampoo - e.g., slippers, lotion, shower caps, etc.). The service in the restaurant is extremely slow (we had to flag our waiter multiple times for the menu, refills, ordering, the bill, etc.). The front desk staff should not be in the hospitality industry if they despise their guests so much. Overall, the communication was quite poor across the board. This trip was supposed to be a wonderful occasion as I had reunited with one of my best friends after not seeing them due to COVID. What was expected to be a wonderful and pleasant stay turned into us counting down the days to escape this terrible hotel and its equally horrible staff. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who expects a basic level of accommodation or service. If Nixe is celebrating their 25th anniversary, I would advise that they take a hard-look at themselves and really validate whether they have anything to celebrate for.

Good enough for short stay

Reviewed By 375aleksanderb

Advanteges are for sure good or even very good and tasty food. All inclusive drinks are amazing and bar service is also superb. On the other hand we have old rooms with a lot of issues and outdate funriture. The balcony look liked from diferent age with tiles visibly being replaced many times. New window without proper finish. Also there is to litle space around the pool and it is just lost for some unnecesary area like big concrete court. There should be more space for pools. The sunbeds are generaly being booked in the early morning and are not even in used most of the time. The main pool area is extremally crouded and feels just to tight. This should be improved. Also some greater renovation should occur soon because it is loosing that good look. Restaurant requires booking time slots for all meals which also can be annoying but that is also caused by the number of people compared to restaurant size which is in short small or unsufficent

Nice but the little things matter

Reviewed By K2208TTstevenw

Currently on day 6 of a 9 day stay, two adults and a 4 year old. It was just a quick trip for a little sun before summer. We always tend to go Iberostar as had great experiences in the past. This is our first visit to this hotel, while lovely it’s the little things that let it down. First the good, nice hotel, all inclusive food a little repetitive but good quality pretty much the norm, location for the beach etc is perfect. The staff all very pleasant except one grumpy guy behind the bar which everything seems to be an issue for, perhaps a new vocation required. Slight issues are, they have run out of ice lollies again, this is the third time in six days they have ran out when I’ve asked for one……….. try telling your 4 year old son he can’t have an ice lolly on holiday in 30c…. Really not great for an all inclusive hotel. How hard can’t it be, they only offer two choices of lollies and surely it’s not a shock that kids wont them. Beach towels can be changed for new each day at certain times but the hut isn’t always open when it should be. Great, I’ll just stick with a dirty towel then Not all the bars open ie beach bar etc, these are just starting to open now but we should have been informed of this prior to our visit. On the whole a nice hotel but, after telling my son we’re off on holiday and he can have ice lollies etc whenever he wants it really greaves me that I’m now having to apologise to him that he clearly can’t. Well I’m off the walk too the nearest Spar shop to buy my son a lolly
