10 Top-Rated Pensions in Andalucia

April 26, 2023 Sachiko Swiger

Distinctive architecture, sun-drenched resorts and eclectic small towns dot Andalusia, a dry, mountainous region of southern Spain that maintains echoes of its Moorish occupation. Spring and fall bring balmy temperatures, ideal for visiting Seville's cathedral, the world's largest Gothic structure, and the 1,200-year-old mosque in Córdoba. Romantics love Granada, home to the fortress of Alhambra and an inspiration to the late poet Federico García Lorca. Don't miss a dip in the sea along the Costa del Sol.

Overall Very Nice

This is a small, family run place in a great location for a reasonable price. The daughter Eva has very good english (the parents not so much, but all were very nice and helpful). Eva gave us a map, and marked places of interest. Our room was a bit small with 2 beds. The en-suite bathroom was very nice. I believe some rooms may not be en-suite.The air conditioning worked fine and the room was fairly quiet. The place was spotlessly clean. There restaurants and shops within a 10 minute walk. The hostal is about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus/train station. When we mentioned we were morning tea drinkers, Eva put out a kettle and tea bags. Overall, a pleasant experience.

The location is ok, close to city center. The room is big enough, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom has everything we need. The receptionist is nice and helpful. We could leave luggage before the start of our booking. At the reception you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. In addition, the host has reserved tickets for a flamenco concert for us. I can recommend this hotel.

Perfectly located hotel for Alhambra visit

Reviewed By PamBeale

Such a beautiful little hotel and in a perfect location for exploring Grenada, especially the Alhambra Palace, as it is on the paved road leading up to the main paths up to the Palace. Also has some private parking (extra charge) which made it so easy when we arrived - we dropped the bags then went to park close by, otherwise it would have meant finding parking elsewhere and that's not an easy task in Grenada. Very good value cafe just over the road for breakfast/lunch too. Room was beautiful and bed very comfy. Stairway is a real wow factor too! Gorgeous old building with so much character.

Incredible place

Reviewed By Ghost_of_the_World

This is an incredible place for the price paid. It is a little walk from the bus station, however very close to the main mall/supermarket. The staff are lovely. The wife greeted me, checked me in and then insisted that her son take my bag to my room. I was on the first floor in a corner room, which had its own basin. The window faced out into the balcony on the inside of the building. There was no noise issue in this room - except you could hear the small dog bark - but this wasn't that much. The breakfast did seem very limited - however I didn't require it any way. The husband saw me when I was leaving at night to meet friends and he couldn't speak english, but made sure I was aware that he was asking if i needed a second key, as the booking.com res had gone through as a 2 person booking. I declined. The next morning, he was the one who checked me out and gave me a discount, as there was only 1 person. Very nice and totally unexpected. I will stay here again. The only downside was there wasn't A/C, however the hotel is very cool and every room has its own fan - so had no problems at all sleeping in the 28*c heat.

Really Nice Boutique Hotel for the Price

I initially intended to stay only one night. However, I ended up having to stay 5 nights due to the ferry being cancelled for 2 and incurring some computer issues. The staff were more than accommodating with my uncertainty of departure. Rooms were clean, quiet, with good light and pleasant updated decor. You can tell that the owner cares about his property. The enjoyment in my accommodations certainly helped to lessen my disappointment in the delays. I didn't use the internet much since my computer was down, so can't speak for its signal strength. (Thanks Sergio for referring me to a capable technician to get me back up and running!) The pictures are of my first room (a triple - I moved to a second smaller room with a better sea view the last night) and the views from each

Simply a perfect stay

Reviewed By mikeswe

How can I start this review.. I am usually a business traveller with 100+ days / year in business hotels. I rarely stay in small hotels, and less pensions or hostels. With that said, if you are looking for something really fancy, this maybe is not your choice. But... if you are looking for a nice bed, a good nights sleep, are not too sensitive to sounds, but simply travelling on budget and want an overall great place? Then this is DEFINITELY the place to stay! The owner is the most service-minded person I met in Spain, her kindness and hospitality would fit in upscale hotels, basically making all her guests feel like home, helping and really caring about that the stay should be good, talking and sharing.. I believe this is one of the best strengths you can have in this business. For the price payed per night, the hospitality (which is worth alot) and the overall service provided, both Me and my father, greatly appreciated this nice hotel! We will be back anytime!

La Siesta Malaga

Welcome to La Siesta Malaga! Our charming five bedroom guest house is situated in the heart of Malaga's old town. In terms of location, La Siesta is ideal; we are located just a hundred meters from Picasso's birthplace and the rest of the many cultural attractions Malaga has to offer. The building was originally built in 1860 and has undergone extensive renovations in order to transform it into an place of calm and superior comfort for our guests. Upon arriving, you will notice the Andalucian flair for which the south of Spain is cherished; the original tiles of the building were lovingly restored for the new floors and an open air patio at the back of the building allows guests to relax and wind down after a day of activities. Each room has been outfitted with air conditioning for the warmer nights as well as a ceiling fan for the cooler ones, a flatscreen television for your enjoyment.

Gorgeous place with lots of attention to detail

Reviewed By Rheinfarn69

La Siesta has a great location just round the corner from lively Plaza Merced with lots of bars and restaurants, yet it is on a quiet street. This was really one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Run by a lovely couple who have obviously travelled a lot themselves as the rooms are tastefully decorated and they have thought of everything a guest needs - it's the attention to detail that makes the place so special. I stayed in the "verde" junior suite which comprises a bedroom, a large bathroom and a small sitting room. Just to mention a few of the details: there is a bedside table at each side of the bed, there is a firmer and a softer pillow on each side of the bed. The bathroom is spacious with a large walk-in shower (with holders for shampoo etc). The living room has a sofa with cushions, a TV, an espresso machine with 2 free capsules, a safe and a minibar with drinks including beer. There is a juliet balcony so you can open the door to the (quiet) street below to get fresh air. The rooms have a fan and despite the temperature of around 35°C it stayed pleasantly cool inside. In other places there is always some small niggle - but here they have thought of literally everything. Downstairs guests can use a small kitchette. I had a very early flight and Inés arranged for an early taxi for me as well as providing information on things to see and do. I will definitely stay here again the next time I come to Málaga!
