Chalet Du Bon Air

A Great family B&B

Reviewed By royoren

We spent 4 nights at Ferme de la Cochette. This is a beautiful family run B&B. The hosts - Anne and Olivier, are amazing. Their hospitality and kindness were the "X-Factor" to our experience. Our family flat consisted of 2 very large rooms and a bathroom. All in the highest standards. Amazing view. No kitchen so you should be prepared to eat out (except for a very nice breakfast which is included in your stay). Their house is up on the hill, outside the main tourist track, so you should take into account 25-50 minutes drive to Annecy/Chambery. This worked well for us but it will not apply to everyone. Plan to leave after breakfast and return after dinner. The nearest town is Aix-les-Bains (10-15 minutes drive) which is by Lac du Bourget with nice beaches, and includes restaurants, a large Carrefour supermarket and a Decathlon. We highly recommend this place.

Good value for money

I stayed her mid March for one week to go skiing. The apartment was clean and mostly very quiet. There was some noise in the evening from the street, but that would apply to any apartment facing the street. There was also a little noise when it was windy, as the wind comes through the central atrium, front door and out the livingroom window.. That said, the apartment was warm, comfortable and offered a decent standard of kitchen equipment. It's conveniently located to get on the piste (once you realise you go up to the 6th floor to get there) and there is a supermarket handily across the road too. The ski/boot room also had boot heaters to dry them out overnight. It's a very walkable place with easy access to restaurants, bars and shops everywhere. I'd definitely stay here again.

A great location, right in the village, easy walking to all amenities. The auberge is basic but comfortable with large rooms. The staff were great. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Free parking too.

2 week stay with family

Reviewed By Emma L

We stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks in February 2022. travelled with husband and 2 children age 12 and 14. This was our second stay here and we had a 3 bedroom apartment which was very comfortable. The spa area is lovely, very modern and plush and there is a large communal lounge which has nice views. We all indulged in a few spa treatments which were top notch. It is a quiet hotel about 10 min walk to main chair lift, ESF ski school meeting point and tourism office. There is a regular free bus stop outside the hotel if you don't want to walk. The ski boat room is plenty big enough and very nice. The only thing this hotel is missing is a coffee shop/bar area/bakery or something that would combine all three. There is plenty of space by the reception area that could accommodate this. I made this comment last time we stayed. Their sister hotel in Tignes has a bar/ coffee shop and it is nice to sit and relax in the area after skiing with free cake! We have stayed at the sister hotel, Village Montana in Tignes 4 times and thoroughly enjoyed it there too. My last comment is to say the overall experience was exceptional due to the staff. They were very polite and friendly and greeted us every time we walked in or out of the building, sometimes chatting with us, genuinely interested in what we were saying. We had a few queries with regads to parking and spa treatments and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much, we will be back!

I’ve been here a few times, it’s never cheap but they always deliver. Friendly staff, very well equipped apartments with great views from the balcony across the snowy alps. Even the double rooms with outdoor seating at the lower floor, with afternoon sun, are nice.

Not for a short stay or week-end

Reviewed By Caroline A

Not convenient at all for a week-end : front desk closing at 20h, Spa and swimming pool are closed on saturday. You can only enjoy the spa for free on sunday morning otherwise you have to pay (a lot). Not comfortable as a standard 4 stars hotels and not good value-for-money. Certainly better fr a 1-week stay with children and so on but not for a cosy week-end in couple.

Booked into here for an overnight to do a col the next day. The room was basic but very clean and had private facilities. Dinner was a communal affair which was good because I was on my own.Melon to start followed by baked sea trout fillets with almonds which were good but the tagliatelle was very variable in texture. The dessert was fresh apricots which were passable but the peaches were like cannonballs and not worth trying. Breakfast was a much better affair with a self service buffet. Good muesli, yogurt and bread. Wifi is restricted to the area around reception. There is a pleasant bar with a terrace where I supped a couple of beers. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you like youth hostels then this is right up your street. Did I mention that dinner bed & breakfast came to 53€? I would stay here again but eat out in the evening.
