Reviewed By Susanrr2This collection of modern cabins, rooms and a bistro was great. The room we stayed in was new, the staff very helpful and the grounds beautiful. We enjoyed our bistro meal. The only slight drawback was spotty Wi-Fi at times but still an excellent experience.

Reviewed By HouseAnimalNationPerhaps the title of our review will give you an indication of our experiences, but this is easily one of the best, if not best, B&Bs we’ve ever stayed at, We were greeted by Marcus and their dog, Stella (she by the way is a very sweet and friendly dog that we loved). We got to meet Elin the next morning as we had arrived late. The attention to details, quality of our breakfasts and beauty of their home was simply amazing. They accommodated us so thoughtfully as among the four of us some were vegetarians and one of us did not eat eggs. This presented no issues whatsoever for Elin and Marcus as their breakfasts were delicious and prepared with our tastes strictly in mind. Another wonderful aspect of Idlewild is the number of “community rooms” to hang out, play games and simply relax. They insisted on our making ourselves at home and utilizing certain areas of the kitchen for storing or heating up leftovers or snacks. Marcus was often checking in to ensure we were comfortable and was so accessible as he responded practically instantaneously to one’s text. The bedrooms themselves were spacious and beautiful, spotlessly clean, too, thanks to their excellent and very friendly staff. Those, too, who assisted in the serving of our breakfasts were equally friendly and yet professional and courteous. Marcus and Elin have constructed a webpage, so user friendly and very informative concerning places to hike, eat or visit. Further, they were incredibly helpful in guiding us to places such as wineries and restaurants and places to hike, thereby expanding on the information already proffered on their website/webpage. The huge and wonderful deck, too, opened up to inspiring views of Lake Seneca and there was a gazebo on the grounds. Many places are within walking distance and be prepared to get some great exercise as the streets present some steep hills. But we loved that too as Idlewild is located and situated such that you get those beautiful views of the region. We’re going back in the late fall so this, too, should tell you how we feel about this place: the area and most importantly its owners, Elin and Marcus, their staff, the accommodations and Stella! Cannot recommended Idlewild Inn enough.

Reviewed By museum-a-dayWe highly recommend the Longhouse. It's very old-fashioned, with not-new furnishings, but clean. We got a bit spooked when reading reviews (after booking) about guests partying loudly and smoking on the rocking chair filled long verandah that runs in front of all the rooms. But no such problems on the night we were there. Families & kids socialized in the evening; everyone quietly off to bed by 10 pm. Our room was very large, including a big wheelchair- accessible bathroom, and a small fridge, microwave, dining table and plushly upholstered reading chairs. Not sure if all rooms have these amenities, so ask in advance, if wanted. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, including with thoughtful recommendations for restaurants in town.

Reviewed By molliec364We stayed here one night for our birthdays. The owner was very nice and mapped out for us all the nearby restaurants as well as recommended some wineries to try out. The room has a key to lock it, not a card, which was charming. The place was super clean. Will stay here again next time.

Reviewed By tomn3Stayed 2 nights recently and enjoyed the motel. Great location next to the State Park entrance. We woke early and being so close didn't have to mess the the parking lot crowds. A few blocks from the heart of downtown and the waterfront. Room was small but perfect for two. Window AC unit, small shower stall. Ice cream was great! And they have a wood fire pizza oven on site.

Dated, but clean
Reviewed By eileen0863This is a basic old-fashioned motel just like we used to stay in when I was a kid on family vacations. The proprietors are very busy all day long keeping the rooms and grounds clean. Upon arrival, our room was very musty but we ran across the street, purchased some Febreeze and squirted it in the air conditioner. Stinky smell was gone. Fixtures in room were dated, but in good repair. Room had a small fridge and microwave. Husband said coffee in the office was good, but we did not try the continental breakfast. King size bed was ok. Not the best, not the worst. Woke up with a back ache after the 2nd night, but not sure if that was from the bed or all the steps at the Gorge.

Reviewed By Steve DWe went for the weekend Sept 17/18 2021 and were very pleased with the accommodations and we at at the restaurant and the food was amazing.There we’re 8 in our party and all thought the food was fantastic.The view of Lake Seneca from our balcony was amazing and the rooms were clean.Coffee made fresh every morning at the registration area and convenient to downtown Watkins Glen and all local vineyards.Highly recommended.

Very Large and comfortable Bed and Breakfast. Bedrooms renovated with new carpets. All rooms have private bathrooms. Beautiful view of Seneca Lake and stocked pond. Very Large living room with 60 inch big screen television, large game room with a pool table, ping pong table, and card table, three porches, two gazebos, heated outdoor swimming pool. All rooms are mini suites. Room amenities include bath robes, ironing boards and irons, cable television, coffee pots, microwave, refrigerators, high speed internet, private phone, Each room has its own sitting area. Great hot breakfast included year round.
