Reviewed By Charles MNow that Switzerland has ended all Covid restrictions, I was able to enjoy another stay at this friendly, cosy traditional Swiss hotel, centrally and quietly located, a five minute walk from Interlaken West railway station/transport Interchange, from where you can explore the beauty of the Bernese Oberland. Christopher, Vilma, Khatia and the rest of the multilingual reception team are very efficient and welcoming and provide you with a hotel info leaflet and the Interlaken guest card that enables free local transport and provides discounts at some shops and attractions. They can also help with personal itineraries and tickets on the Jungfrau Railways system. My first floor, very clean simply furnished room had multi-channel TV, shower/toilet, very comfy bed, plenty of electrical sockets including USB charger ports, a free room safe and Wi-Fi access. The room was cleaned daily by very friendly and accommodating staff. Breakfasts were varied and plentiful with cereals, breads, toast, croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurts, jams, boiled eggs, cold meats, local cheeses, extra yummy scrambled eggs and bacon plus cold fruit drinks. Tea or coffee was served at your table. It was nice to see Jean Louis (Christopher’s father) in full swing again, welcoming his many returning guests and dispensing cheerful humorous comments, ensuring tea and coffee pots were always topped up and more importantly having the time to sit and discuss with his guests helpful travel tips. What an amazing host! The ground floor lounge has sitting areas, a widescreen TV, 24hr tea/coffee making facilities, a microwave plus plates and cutlery so guests can heat up their own food supplies and eat-in. There’s also a well stocked multilingual library for guests use. There’s another widescreen TV in the first floor lounge along with a supply of DVDs, laptop computer and children’s toys/games. Across the road from the hotel is a pharmacy, newsagent and pizza restaurant and within easy walking distance are several restaurants and a Coop supermarket that also have sandwiches, snacks and drinks that can sustain you on your daily excursions into the mountains. Reviewed By METtoMEDWe’re actually only on our first of four nights staying in this hotel at the time we’re writing this, but had such a great experience on our first day, that we had to go ahead and write a 5-star review! We booked the Salzano through on an online travel agency and didn’t really know what to expect, but loved the rustic Swiss chalet vibe and don’t mind a short (completely flat) walk or quick bus into town, so we booked it. Upon arriving this morning (June 5, 2022) around 11am, the lady at the front desk informed us our room wasn’t ready yet, but should be ready around 2pm. She offered to store our luggage for us, which was nice and we set off to exploring the area. When we returned around 3pm, she not only remembered us, but had already completed the check in process for us AND had taken our luggage to the room—a service we’ve never had done for us in all of our travels. She then gave us all the information for the spa, which was included with our room—being sauna enthusiasts, we were so excited for this feature. She also offered to book us a reservation at the restaurant. We immediately got to our room and got ready for the sauna. We ended up trying every room in the spa and loved the experience. The panorama sauna was our favorite and we really liked the outdoor showers. The spa is a naked spa, but we really didn’t mind and it was not busy or crowded, so we were very at ease. We are greatly looking forward to our next 3 nights stay and hoping to give the restaurant a try before our stay has concluded. Yes, it’s a bit outside of the center of Interlaken, but the #21 bus is super easy (we haven’t spent more than 8-10 minutes on it back into town and the stop is only a few yards from the front door of the Salzano OR it’s only a 20 minute walk, if you’re so inclined… Would definitely recommend the Salzano if you’re looking for a quiet, Swiss chalet vibe with gorgeous views of the mountains (we’re street side and still have an extraordinary view!)

Minutes away from the train station and close to tourists shops and restaurants. The hotel is a historical building with deep tubs and classic decor. It has parking available and wifi. The beds, pillows and towels are not plush but it’s not terrible.

Authentic Swiss Home to start your Swiss Alps Adventure
Reviewed By AceY39If you want to stay in a real Swiss neighborhood, if you want to stay in an Alpine looking house, if you are not in a rush and want to take your own sweet time visiting the alps... if this is you... This is the place to stay! Stayed here for 5 nights to go visit the alps. They gave me the room with the huge balcony and it was nice to just sit down, have a drink and watch the alps and relax. It is walkable to the train station but give yourself atleast 8-10mins to walk(i clocked this with a very slow pace and i dont want to sweat coz it was snowing). A very good base to stay if you wanna enjoy both the Jungfrau region and Interlaken West. Trust me. Unterseen/Interlaken West has alot of Insta spots! You will also get the Interlaken card which you can use to take free public transport in Interlaken and surrounding areas. This was very nice coz I needed we all need to go to Interlaken Ost from Interlaken West to go to the Alps! There is a bakery nearby that opens at 6am for a good breakfast and a COOP supermarket nearby if u wanna save money. Migros cafeteria by the train station also sells 'affordable' lunch and dinner. Overall great stay!

Perfect location for short stay in Interlaken old town
Reviewed By AnnaZ423Location is very good, room is spacious, but some what outdated, the bed is too soft and there is a big split between two mattresses. Fridge is available in the room, which is great! Breakfast is limited (without milk alternatives lipje oat or soja), but the way it’s served in glass pots is nice. Internet is very bad even on the street view side. Welcome on the check in day was very friendly and professional from the owner, however next day the service was very poor and not professional at all (we asked for an advise on one of the common boat trips and were advised to google it ourselves…, so tourist office in the city center helped us much more and professional). Bus stop is next to the hotel, which is very comfortable, but also the nice walk through the old town is easy and pleasant. There is a coffee & cake time offered for free during the day 14:00-18:00 for the guests - nice touch! Interlaken area public transport tickets are provided with the booking including some discounts too - very well arranged. Parking on the hotel property is easy and comfortable, included in the booking.

Cosy little hostel
Reviewed By SanghamitraGIt is a picturesque little hostel in a well maintained old building with all modern amenities . Reception desk is manned all the time with very helpful persons . Very peaceful. We stayed in the attic room with two beautiful windows which allow plenty of sunlight and excellent view of Meadows and mountains. Beds are comfortable with attached toilets. Switzerland does not provide shampoo and conditioner for hair as well as tooth paste. So it should be carried in your luggage . Any departmental store is very far off from this hostel. Buses are available to all direction. Roads are beautiful. Complimentary breakfast does not have many variety but it is satisfying fir those who love milk. Tea and coffee always available. I traveled with my daughter and we are satisfied with the amenities and view.

Reviewed By jeanmartinp_13We visited the hotel some weeks ago with my family. We were the first and only one in the hotel because of the Covid-19 pandemia. Despite this particular situation, we were welcomed by Kim who was so king to help us and provide with all the necessary. She paid so much attention for us, that was really so nice. We had a great night in a very confortable room, a wonderfull breakfast and were so please about our stay. We do recommend warmly this hotel and the staff. Thank you again, we will come again soon. Reviewed By martynw795Chose the hotel based on location and it is really a superb location if you want access to the Thunersee and plan to do things around this area. Access to the lake and water sport is perfect. On the positive side we liked; 1. The location 2. Rooms were exceptionally clean 3. Staff were friendly and helpful 4. Shower was excellent with good water pressure 5. Free parking 6. Free transport into and around Interlaken Room for improvement 1. The beds were so soft I could not sleep. Staying for 4 nights this was an issue 2. We booked a double bed and got two singles pushed together 3. Rooms in the main hotel, away from the restaurant, were a little small. The the wardrobe taking up a huge space. 4. Wifi was terribly slow. I haven’t experienced this in Switzerland in years 5. Breakfast was a little bland and croissants not fresh any of the days Overall I think the hotel was a little pricey for the standard. You are paying for the location really and the rest was a little mediocre. Would I come back. Probably not!

Reviewed By CherryY_13This is a low quality rental place which slips under the surveillance of online booking systems and dress itself as a hotel, in fact, it even does not fulfill requirements for a hostel, at least in a hostel you have enough bath room, at this place 5 rooms, 20 visitors in total share only one bath room, think about how long you have to wait in the morning, this is what we have experienced. Not to say the corners and edges of the bath room are full of dirts. Our room smells like urine. The rusty hinges of the doors grate severely, when you open and close the door, you hear extremely unpleasant noise, think about you were woke up in the middle of the night by the noise of the door when your roommates got up to go to the toilet, this is exactly what we have experienced.
