Definitely not a 4-star hotel

Reviewed By rtI2178HY

We paid $320 for one night in a suite. The room was comfortable and large but the furnishing was not at all "4-star" level. There was an intermittent banging noise coming from the pipes in the walls. We heard 10 seconds of a noise that sounded like an old steam train in the walls, 1-5 times an hour. There were no other suites available so we had to stay in that room. A hotel engineer came to our room to help but could not solve the issue because the noise did not happen in the time he waited to hear the noise. When I asked the concierge if we could be refunded part of our bill due to the noise, they gave me a voucher for free parking (which would have cost $20 more) and a $20 breakfast voucher. Breakfast for 4 at the hotel cost $65 so we ended up spending an extra $45 at the hotel to use the voucher. I emailed and called Murano several times to get some of our payment refunded but the organization insisted that free parking and $20 off of breakfast was adequate. The bottom line is that the Murano hotel does not take care of their customers in the way you would might expect a nice hotel would. Maybe going to a chain hotel would be better since they have a reputation to maintain. If there is anything wrong with your room at Murano, the staff has their hands tied and cannot do much to help you out.

Dated property but ok

Reviewed By lopezth

We stayed here two nights for a family vacation to the Pacific Northwest. This property is not in the best part of town but I never felt unsafe due to the perimeter fence and they had a night security guard. The hotel was nice and clean however the rooms seemed dated. The biggest drawback was the bathroom sinks were in the bathroom as opposed to just outside so when someone is showering the other occupant doesn’t have access to brush his teeth (or whatever). Another drawback was in the bathroom above the toilet there was only a shelf as opposed to the racks most places have so there was limited places to hang cosmetics bags and towels. Out bathroom only had conditioner (no shampoo), but maybe this was just an oversight of housekeeping? The beds sagged quite a bit and were twins instead of queens (we knew this when making the reservation but just fyi), the TV was not working properly (channel did not sync with the onscreen guide), the Wi-Fi was slow (on the 7th floor I got 7.5 mbps download, 1 mbps upload so I turned it off and just used 4G LTE), the breakfast did not include (hot) eggs, sausage, or bacon, just cold items but they did have the waffle maker. The shower pressure was good and no issue with hot water etc. They did have an on-site restaurant and lounge which was a nice option but being that we were on vacation we chose to eat out. The staff was always very nice and friendly. Although it was a bit dated we do like their pet friendly policy and overall it was a decent place.

Night and Day

Reviewed By cgbonney

We enjoyed the Silver Cloud Hotel at Point Rustin and thought it first class (except the parking fee). Based on that experience, let's try another one. Wrong! While traveling, it is required to have a comfortable, quiet place to relax and rejuvenate, and this hotel was neither. Not only was it a night and day experience compared with Point Rustin, it was night and day compared with all but a hand full of hundreds of hotels we've used over the years, but we were literally up night and day with the roadway and train traffic noise, about 1 football field from the hotel. We were to bed by 11:00 am and awake at 4:30 am for the day due to noise. And we had a LONG flight to catch to the East Coast at SeaTac. Unpleasant and not repeatable. We also agree with Erin (see previous review) about deceptive "water-view" guest rooms.

Great Location, Walking Distance to Shops and Restaurants

Reviewed By Michelle A

My husband and I stayed at this hotel to visit University of Puget Sound. The hotel was only a 10 minute drive from the University. The location is perfect to downtown shops and eateries, it is also directly across from the convention center. They offer valet parking which was very convenient. We had a large GMC truck and they had plenty of spots and room to Parkette right in front of the hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly and the rooms felt large and were very clean! The bar and bistro offered many drink options and a good selection of food items. We will definitely stay here again.

WOW

Reviewed By LilHilton

Incredible hotel, staff, service, rooms -- all of it! I consider myself somewhat of a hotel snob and gravitate towards luxury brands. I came to Point Ruston to visit family for the first time and was blown away by this property. The staff (Derick and Dave at the front desk stand out along with the housekeepers) were fantastic. The property was clean, located in the heart of the action, and beautifully furnished. I apprecaited the Aveda amenities, spacious rooms, and incredible views. All in all, it was the staff who made my stay -- everyone from the valet to the front desk to the restaurant staff were welcoming and hospitable. This hotel gave me all the five-star vibes. I'll be coming back regularly.

Loved this place!

We stayed with Jane and Skip in April 2022 when we visited University of Puget Sound for admitted student day. We stayed in the Green Gable Room which is perfect for a couple with a child. Our son slept in the single bed in the nook while we slept in the queen bed in the main bedroom. Everything was neat and clean. The room is light and airy and very quiet. The home is a truly beautiful Victorian, and I could have spent days looking at all the decor! Skip and Jane are very kind and friendly hosts, happy to chat but not intrusive at all. They were flexible with our arrival time, we arrived after 10 pm, and with giving us a slightly early breakfast at 8 am. Breakfast was simple but delicious. They accommodated my husband who is vegan. Highly highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Tacoma and you are ok with climbing stairs and parking your car on the street.

Hotel In the process of updating

Reviewed By Go546772

Be aware that when you book this hotel that it is under a company change and there are pros and cons. Pros: the lobby area is attractive as are the rooms (at least our room). They have a modern feel and decor. The mirror in the bathroom area is lit from behind and really pretty. Thick, beautiful glass doors in the walk-in shower, despite the bathroom being pretty small. There is a nice new refrigerator in a generous size with easy in and out can spaces! There is a microwave, too. Very nice large TV. There is a nice full length mirror and extra chair and floor lamp. There is a tiny coffee maker. There is a back staircase that goes directly outside and the stairs are “shallow” so 2 flights seems like much fewer if stairs are an issue for you. There are lots of restaurants/eateries within walking distance. Also: There is also a pool and hot tub that is open! Cons: despite the attractive room there is no place to hang ANYTHING! No rod for coats or your nicer clothes so you’ll have to live out of your suitcase. No hooks on the walls for your toiletries bag. No drawers except the bedside table drawers. No iron or ironing board, and no closet, so beware! The bed is comfortable but the pillows are quite firm so if you like soft ones, bring one from home. There is a desk, bedside lamps and a very old outdated clock radio. This hotel is right on a large 8 LANE FREEWAY so be aware there is constant noise from traffic if you are given a room in the front of the hotel. If you’re used to a noise maker at night it works well-lots if swishing of cars and trucks going by, but not too annoying. If you like quiet when you sleep request the back or non-freeway side. The hallways/staircase have a very shabby ugly carpeting with brown swirls. Hopefully this will be updated. Some paint is needed in places. Overall we would return if there were a place to hang our clothes and jackets but will probably skip this one next time.

This Hampton does not belong in the Hilton Chain of Hotels

Reviewed By 292markt

I'm sure the staff is doing the best that it can with what it has, but this Hampton is subpar. 1. The area is not safe. I watched drug transactions at a homeless encampment on the edge of the property. Washington had a myriad of problems, but the homeless drug addiction issue is everywhere. Unfortunately it is on edge of this property/parking lot. The parking lot is monitored by cameras, but the trash on the edge of the property and in the parking lot seem to be treated as acceptable. Vehicles parked on the property are prone to break in . Never saw an employee walking the lot or picking up the trash. It stayed in and around the cars for days. It lends to a feeling that no one cares. 2. The attitude that no one cares extends to the Hotel itself. Due to short staffing, you are required to request that your room is serviced during your stay. We were there for four nights. We requested the room be serviced twice. It was serviced one of those two requests. That may be just a fact of life due to the lack of personnel available, but it is unacceptable customer service. 3. The general appearance of the hotel makes it look run down. Mattresses left propped up against the wall at the end of our hallway on the third floor. Hampton used to use stickers on their door frames so you would break the seal as you walked it to know the room was clean. The remnants of those stickers are on every door frame. They have never been cleaned up. The blinds in our room did not work. Between the trash outside and the general condition inside, it feels like the management just does not care. The lack of pride in ownership and customer service are a general feeling that you get after staying here. Drug traffic and trash outside. Things not being taken care of inside. It all starts to pile up and we were ready to leave and not come back. There were other things that all have to do with being HiltonHonors members that I will not address here. There are other Hamptons in the area. Pick a different one.
