10 Top-Rated Hotels in Stavanger, Stavanger Municipality, Rogaland, Western Norway

August 8, 2022 Jana Sager

With about 120,000 people, Stavanger is Norway’s fourth-largest city and a fascinating mix of old and new. Its history stretches back deep into the Middle Ages. Stavanger was once a tranquil coastal market town and then later an important fishing port. But it was the 1969 discovery of oil offshore that forever changed the now bustling city’s fortunes and landscape. Don’t miss the well-preserved old town (Gamle Stavanger), the unique Canning Museum or the 12th-century Stavanger Cathedral.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming which I greatly appreciate. The lobby was very clean and tidy. The same is to be said about the rooms as I have no complaints with. The food was great with a good range of selection available. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is honestly in a perfect spot for a tourist as most things you'll need will be in a walking distance.

Bit disappointment

Reviewed By 698justm

From difficulty to find a free parking lot, to the unprepared room ( even though booked much in advanced). The safe room seemed no working and bathroom had not heating .To the cold breakfast area ( even warm food could not stay warm), as in middle of the hotel in open space but main entrance where the doors keep opening and closing and even smoking smell from smoking people enter in the eating area. We came with family members as seamed family friendly but I have to suggest they should think bit more about family vacations as the kids had no much area to be then only swimming. An maybe adding in restaurant a childrens menu since was more like adult restaurant oriented choices. The positive part should be staff in general, the breakfast personnel always polite and tryed their best to help. An maybe the very positive is the opportunity to use swimming pool area if you book in advance time.

Loved this hotel and I will be back!

When I booked this I was worried about transport as most reviews I read were car drivers. I was not prepared to pay Norwegian prices for car hire. Nope! The hotel staff were amazing. There are buses going into Stavanger Sentrum and other Sentrums on a regular basis on time every time. The bus ride gave me an opportunity to ride round the city (depending on the route you choose) and explore different neighbourhoods. There is a bus to the airport from the Forus area. There is no need to catch the Flybussen (coach approx £15.28 for 20 min ride) the city centre then another bus to the hotel. My room was spacious, very clean, bed comfortable, cleaning staff are so friendly I don't think they get enough credit for how wonderfully engaging they are. I enjoyed the breakfast. There is a petrol station nearby (1 minute walk) if you want to try a burger. Yes a petrol station burger and hotdog! or just pop into Ikea which is also walking distance. Or jump on a bus to McDonalds. The point is that its accessible even without a car. The prices was also decent compared to the locations in city centres. My room had a mini fridge for all the stuff I bought at the supermarket. Again, I was not prepared to pay those Norwegian restaurant prices everyday. Nope!

Fabulous

From the moment we stepped in the door I knew we had made the right choice. Our host was first class in the welcome and the house is just so beautiful. Bedroom was everything we needed together with a little kitchen next door where guests could use microwave or make tea or coffee at any time. Breakfast was superb with a great range of food. It was delightful sitting around a proper dining table in a tastefully decorated room exchanging our adventures with other guests. The guesthouse is ideally situated in Stavanger and easy walk to most places of interest and ferries. The bus stop to and from the airport is about a 5 minute walk.
