A great stopover from Calais
Reviewed By aro-ratStayed overnight travelling from Calais onto Bordeaux. Check in was smooth in English, Lisa at reception was very helpful. Hubert was extremely helpful and apologetic as the restaurant was closest due to Sunday. The hotel is exceptionally clean, rooms have a kettle, unlike the ones which follow from this review. The room is big enough for 2 and all the luggage. 10/10 for an exceptional place and a stopover. Burger King around the corner, you will need your NHS QR code before entry. We went to BK as we had a beer at the hotel and didn't want to risk driving.

Reviewed By gertion2016In a narrow street near to the railwaystation one can find this hotel. In this neighbourhood one expects nothing grand, but inside the hotel it is a different matter, very well maintained and clean (it was renovated not so long ago) And a great plus is the garage, although not too big, a Rolls won't fit in. Rooms are rather small, but well kept and almost everything you need is there, this includes the bathroom too.The weather didn't allowed us to use it, but there is a very nice inner garden for sunny days. The breakfast was for 9 euros really excellent, So our final conclusion is an excellent price quality ratio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Situé dans la vallée du Loir, l’Hôtel de France, avec sa façade Art déco décorée de lierre, propose des chambres chic et confortables, une terrasse ensoleillée et un coin privé avec jardin et piscine chauffée près du Loir. L’hôtel est la base idéale pour découvrir la région! L’établissement se trouve dans le joli petit village de La Chartre sur le Loir, entre le Mans et Tours, et à 2h30 de Paris. L’aéroport de Tours se trouve à seulement 40 minutes. Utilisée comme QG secret pendant des années par des stars du monde automobile dans les années 50s, 60s et 70s, l’hôtel a également accueilli un président français, la famille Kennedy, Steve Mc Queen, etc. L’Hôtel de France est indépendant et a été racheté il y a 5 ans par un fan de sport automobile britannique, Martin Overington. Avant cela, l’établissement est resté dans la même famille pendant 4 générations, la famille Pasteau! Toutes les chambres ont donc été refaites il y a 5 ans. Toute l’équipe de l’Hôtel de France a hâte de vous accueillir dans ses murs!
Delightful small hotel with character
Reviewed By Alan PImagine an ideal French hotel with a classic dining room and comfortable accommodation set on a small village square in beautiful countryside. You've arrived at La Chartres sur le Loir and really won't be disappointed. It feels as if it's always been there, just like it is today, nothing pretentious and hugely popular. Be sure to book for dinner, it would be great shame to miss out.

Reviewed By janemakThis hotel delivered on so many points. The price, the location, nice rooms, secure parking, good breakfast and friendly and professional staff. I would highly recommend it if staying in la Flèche. The restaurants around the hotel are walking distance and varied cuisines and prices.

Our room was stylish, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast room, overlooking the garden is peaceful and a great place to start the day. The buffet breakfast was well stocked and delicious. If you arrive for the first time, just be aware that check in is from 17.00 to 19.00 unless otherwise arranged.

Reviewed By ali3240This is an ideal hotel for a stopover on the way to the South of France - its very easy to access as you don't need to drive through the city centre to get there. There is plenty of free parking in the streets nearby and they also have a secure, underground car park. All the staff on reception and in the bar /restaurant could not have been more helpful and the on site restaurant is a relaxing place for a decent meal if you arrive late and don't want to walk into town. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable enough.

Very small rooms
Reviewed By GazteorioWe chose this hotel as a stopover on our way to Spain. It's located just off the motorway which was ideal for us. The rooms are very basic but clean and tidy. Also offers secure parking. A massive benefit for us was that it's dog friendly. Good value for what we paid. The only downside is that the rooms are quite small and compact, probably not ideal if you have a large dog like ours.

A very good overnight
Reviewed By holiday096This hotel seems to be aimed at business and families, but that was fine. The ladies at the reception table spoke English and our room was very good with what may be the most comfortable bed we have ever experienced! Wifi worked well, dinner was fine and the 'continental' breakfast was excellent. Good value, clean and well appointed, good food, we would be happy to stay here again.

Reviewed By siobhanhughes64There was not ‘high speed’ internet nor any other type of Wi-fi in our bedroom, there was only usable internet in the library downstairs. There was not a DVD player in our room (as specified) nor the subsequent two rooms that were checked, however we got lucky in the third bedroom, sadly the remote didn’t work as the batteries had been removed, this was important to us as we travel with our dog who was not allowed in the restaurant so we had planned to bunker down in our room and watch a movie. The ‘courtesy tray’ would not look out of place in a cheap B&B in the UK. There was no system for checking out so we handed our keys to a chambermaid, we were then hassled at the gate by a person questioning us as to whether we had paid. All in all a pretty poor experience.

Reviewed By HannahBrown93Normally the 1er class hotels are average quality. But this one was terrible. The room felt damp and cold, no spare blankets so spent the night shivering. To top it off we found bed bugs in our room...!
