10 Top-Rated Hotels in San Francisco, California

August 5, 2022 Timmy Ribble

Each of San Francisco's unique neighborhoods has its own collective personality shaped by its residents, topography and history. This diversity is one of the great hallmarks of the city, as well as its tradition for rebellion, and both make traversing San Francisco as a visitor an intriguing adventure that provides fresh discoveries for locals as well. While half of the city’s growth during the 19th century was due to the arrival of American immigrants, the balance was due to immigration from around the world. Today, the city's neighborhoods reflect this fact with their cosmopolitan flair and distinctive character.

Audra at the front desk at Hotel Emblem made our stay so fun and comfortable! This hotel is where you want to be! You are near cable car stops and near Union Square. My husband and I felt so at home with a diffuser, fridge and yoga mat that the staff brought up to our room as complimentary amenities. Service was fast and polite. This hotel made San Fran even more fun than we could imagine!

Argonaut Hotel

Located in the heart of San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, Argonaut Hotel exudes the true essence of a boutique hotel. With a name like the Argonaut, it's impossible not to speak of this hotel in grand, almost legendary terms. Inspired by the Greek legend and Gold Rush-era adventurers, it's one of those rare places in San Francisco that truly merits a term like iconic. Located in the historic Haslett Warehouse, the Argonaut's home is a grand building built in 1907 of exposed brick, Douglas Fir beams and so much seaside character; you feel as though you can almost reach out and touch the colorful Barbary Coast past here.

My favorite hotel in San Francisco

Friendly staff, fantastic location, charming interior, modern and comfortable rooms with comfortable beds and I love that they allow pets too! The restaurant "The Blue Mermaid" is really great, we had a large business lunch there with 9 people and the food and staff were fantastic, with reasonable prices. I also used the gym while I was there which was "just right" for my needs.

Worst hotel experience in my life

Reviewed By micha_d248

I booked my room at this hotel in San Francisco on the booking.com portal (night 31.05/01.06). When i arrived to the hotel on 31.05 i was told, they haven't got any reservation (despite hotel confirmed on email my booking before). I was immidiately hit by the way reception (guy) treated us. Arrogant and mannered. It was like he was doing us a favor booking a room. Receptionist told us room will be cheaper than via booking. com. Only 140 USD per night. We agreed for it. After we reached the room i checked my credit card and it was 260 USD blocked. I was shocked becuase that should have been told us before, in case we haven't got enough credit line limit. Wifi - hotel declares to have very fast internet connection. This is why we chose it - to work from the room in the evening. From start to the check out wifi didn't work. I called our receptionist 6 times, he promised he corrects our password in their system - nothing happened. I had to go down to the lobby to connect. But each time my laptop was connected to the internet, it was like somebody on purpose cuts that connecton off. And guess what: the guy that was so unpleasant by the check in was then at the reception. The worst experience was just about to happen on the check out. The same receptionst said, asked for a bill/invoice for our stay (i wanted to check how much we pay for/why 260 USD blocked etc.), that he can't give us due to system failure. And that we could call IT but we would have to wait either "5 minutes or 10 hours". This is literally what he said. 1:1 quoting. With arrogant manner. We reminded him that we are guests of the hotel and that is unacceptable how he treats us. He grabbed the monitor and squizzed so in his right hand. I had an impression that he was close to hit us with his hand. At the same time his friend came to the reception and started to explain. Our arrogant one just left without the word and didn't come back. The new guy printed out the bill in 2 minutes. Again, i understand bad days. But this was way too much. You pay 200 dollars for a night in a hotel (which is like for luxury hotel in Poland) and you get no wifi and you ve been treated like s..t. Don't recommend to anyone booking of this place. They don't respect booking.com reservations. You can come and land on the street at night. And we had heavy luggage during our stay.

AC is good—and the room is tastefully decorated as at all Hyatts and the service to the room is better than most Hyatts—very prompt to the room, and nice on the phone.
