We reserved this hotel to attend the walleye festival in Freeland, MI. The potholes in parking lot are atrocious! A small vehicle could get lost in them!!! Trying to check in was a complete catastrophe. The attendant was very nice but could NEVER give us a key to get into the room, she had to go unlock the room & said we could stop by later after she gets machine fixed. Several times trying and it never worked. We reserved this hotel knowing it might be under renovation. Our room has no Kleenex tissues, we are all having sinus issues and having to use toilet paper. I stopped by on night two to ask for a box of Kleenex and she said the hotel doesn’t have any! Umm NO EXCUSE- go to store and buy the cube boxes for $1/box. I’ve stayed at other hotels under renovation and it’s usually business as normal, just maybe that partial floors are not used. This hotel was quite the opposite. We tried to get ice, walking down the hall on 3rd floor, not finding any, second floor =none, then to steps to first floor, walking down the hall that sounds like carpet is wet the wallpaper is hanging off all the walls and I find the ice machine that has a sign to go to front desk to get ice!! I go to front desk and he directs me to go to the kitchen. The kitchen attendant had to dip ice from a cooler!!! She pulls up half ice / half water. I said I can’t use the water. She said I’m going to have to go next door to the other hotel and get some more ice! I said I need a full bucket to put into my small cooler. She manages to get enough that I can get by with. Question- WHY EVEN IF YOU ARE RENOVATING, can’t you purchase an ice machine !!???? Then we attempted to come down for breakfast, oh brother!! No toaster, no bread, including bagels, no peanut butter. No hot made breakfast meats. Instead - Pre packed quiche and Belgian waffle, oatmeal and cereal. I went to the breakfast attendant again and said can we go eat at the hotel next door? She responded “All Marriott’s are like this, they took all the toasters, they have exactly what we have. “ I have pictures of the breakfast at this hotel and yet the have pictures of breakfast that is much different from what they are offering. I have to admit I haven’t stayed at a Marriott property post Covid, but have stayed at other hotels at least 45 days all together and they ALL HAD A TOASTER AND HOT BREAKFAST MEAT, (& ALL HAD KLEENEX!!!) Breakfast attendant said “you can go next door to comfort suites. “ We did. It had bagels, a toaster, peanut butter, hot omelette, sausage. Still a basic breakfast, but much better than the Fairfield inn. This isn’t just that this hotel is being renovated, it’s a cheap owner that is trying to get by & is reaping the benefits of not purchasing up to hotel standards & not having to provide daily room service, no one to keep the pool up because - by the way “ the pool is under construction “ - surprised? I doubt it at this point!

It’s a shame that ownership does not understand that when they inconvenience customers to the point that they have with their renovation here, to charge two dollars per bottle of water upon check in for aspire elite customers is unacceptable. After circling the property twice, I parked in the back and had to ask construction workers where check-in was, as their signage was indistinguishable. In the IHG app it says that their pool is now open, it is - with a giant plywood board over what used to be the Jacuzzi. The gym was clean and well equipped, that is why I gave them two stars. My room was not so clean or well-equipped, hairs in the bathroom, fingerprints on surfaces, windows not clean. No table in front of the sofa, One singular Keurig coffee capsule in the room. Don’t expect to see me again.

We've stayed here 3 times in the past 6 months on visits to Saginaw, and every time our stay has been pleasant. The staff are friendly, the rooms are nice, the breakfast is great, the hotel is close to the highway and surrounded by any kind of shopping you can imagine. The pool has been closed due to Covid, but I did use the exercise room on our last visit and the equipment was clean and fresh towels were provided.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! At all Cost

Reviewed By epharrissr

This hotel is the exact opposite of hospitality! We were driving up from Georgia and it was 1:00 am and we were looking for a pet friendly room because we were exhausted. We checked in again at 1:00 am, two rooms 142/143 and I called to the front desk and requested a late check out and the guy at the front desk very abruptly said check out is at 11:00 am and we’ll give you 11:15 am check out. I said thank you and hung up the phone. At 9:56 am house keeping is pounding on my door like she was trying to break down my door. I answered the door and she said, “your still here” I said not one word but I looked at her and looked at my watch and she got the message. I went up to the front desk and asked why is house keeping beating on our doors at 9:56 am, and the three at the front desk said, the young lady was new and didn’t know better. They all had a strange, “lying” Look on their faces. No apology, just she was new so I asked for the Manager. He was not there but they said his name is Harkesh. We checked out and later that day I called Harkesh, explained what happened including we requesting the late check out and the housekeeping foolishness. He stated that it was “the policy” of Quality Inn to knock on doors at 10:00 am because most people check out early and they want to get housekeeping in the rooms early. I repeated that this is Quality Inn’s policy and very sternly he stated “Yes” and then started trying to over talk me. I asked Sir, what time is checkout and now he’s getting aggravated. I said Sir chose your words C wisely. He stated again, this is our policy so what else do you need? First, there’s no hospitality in this place and second, there’s no integrity in this place. Quality Inn if your reading this review, this place should be closed down, revamped and sold to people whom appreciate people and will respect people. I’ve served 21 years in the US Military, a retired, disabled, combat veteran and when I am exposed to dishonorable, dishonest, and unapologetic people like these.
