Not #1

Reviewed By mrt1955

We stayed here when we went to Sacramento for a getaway because Trip Advisor traveller’s rated this #1 of all the hotels. This is NOT a destination spot…it’s located in an Industrial area which isn’t great. It is having construction on the site which isn’t great either. It also has a mandatory parking lot which fully confused we two travellers. Breakfast was great but otherwise it’s pretty average.

Just right for concerts at Golden 1 Center

Reviewed By rockjaunt

Longtime Kimpton Inner Circle Member, and have always enjoyed Kimpton Hotels. The Sawyer was the first of the "newer" Kimpton Hotels, where previously Kimpton would renovate and dial in older properties with tasteful modern style, amenities and personal care that created a really enjoyable experience. Have been staying at the Sawyer since the week before the grand opening, and have watched the property grow in many ways and falter in others, and in general, while its never matched the traditional Kimpton experience, it is a nice property with some great features. One of which, is the proximity to the Golden 1 Center! Live music is my thing, and the Golden 1 Center has become a favorite venue due to being able to pull up, park and not have to deal with the car until the next day! Short walk across the way to the venue and can rock/jam out without concern of driving or getting a ride. The next day there are a ton of cool local coffee shops with fresh coffee and waffles amongst other things to round out the stay before heading home. Rooftop pool is cool and bar is a scene, couple other restaurant/bar establishments super close so plenty of options, as long as you reach them before they close! Room service has been hit and miss over my 20+ visits, at times amazing, other times borderline dreadful in the food aspect. Once for a concert we ordered room service from the show and it was waiting for us in the room when we got in, which was awesome!!! Unfortunately that was a one off no longer an option so spin the wheel for food service and appreciate what arrives. Traveling for business has its pro's and cons, and when staying with Kimpton those pro's are a food surprise when you get to your room. Have had some great experiences over the years, and the Sawyer team always makes me feel welcome!

We hadn't been to Old Sac in more than five years. Whereas, we used to make at least an annual trip, if not more often. We decided to spend the weekend for our 19th anniversary this year. The Embassy Suites is the best place to stay in the area as far as we are concerned. It's more expensive than many options but worth it for the amenities and services provided. We can highly recommend it. If only the rest of Old Sacramento could catch up the the Embassy Suite's example of quality. It has declined since the days of the Jazz Jubilee and while the Covid epidemic may have played a role, based on more than 30 years of visiting, I'd say it wasn't the epidemic alone.

Small guest rooms, but nice water pressure and clean. Especially liked the pillows and black-out curtains. The restaurant is barely functional, but thankfully there is nearby food and beverages for a short drive. The bar staff are nice. Breakfast isn't standard unless you buy up, and for the price and all other things considered, I will be staying elsewhere next time.

Courteous and helpful even at 1 :00am

I had some car engine issues and spent most of the previous 6 Hrs dealing with it. Unfortunately that meant that I didn’t arrive at the hotel until well after midnight. Naturally I was exhausted as I drug myself and my gear to the night window. I expected to see a doorbell button on the wall to push and wake someone but instead I was met at the window by a lovely and chipper night manager named Rose. I told her that I was worn out and had just a few hours left to get some sleep before a scheduled work training the next morning. She said she understood completely and within a few minutes I had keys in hand and a within few more I had a pillow under my head. I just wanted to thank Rose for her friendly smile and for going beyond what most people would do, especially at 1:00 am. She was super helpful when she didn’t have to be and I appreciate that. I’ll definitely be a return customer. -Bob

Perfect hotel near airport

Reviewed By sharrongeg

As a Hilton Diamond member, I tend to stay at Hilton properties most often. Our top floor king room (with sofa bed) was $150, $173 including all taxes and fees. Although close to I5 and the airport, it was very quiet. Didn’t try the brekkie because our flight was early. Hotel is literally 5 minutes from the airport. Important to note that all close restaurants are chain restaurants. Not our fav, but it worked in a pinch. Note..none (other than Denny’s) is within easy walking distance.
