Outstanding Accommodation

Reviewed By Russell F

My wife and I and 2 close friends stayed at this hotel in May whilst walking the Camino. This was the start of our walk (164 km), so it was very exciting to finally get to our starting point. We flew into Santiago and then caught the bus back to Pedrafita do Cebrero. This hotel is not actually on the Camino trail......it is approximately 4 km from the trail. The hotel is situated about 150 metres from the bus stop, so it was handy in that aspect and is not on the main drag.....instead on the next street up, so hardly any traffic. When we arrived, Maru was there to welcome us and got us settled into our room. He was very helpful and friendly, giving us a map of the village and explaining where everything is and where to dine and have coffee. Our room was upstairs and had a balcony. We had our own bathroom, lounge room and also had access to a kitchen also upstairs. It was clean, bright and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Next morning, we had breakfast at the property (4 euro) which was nice. Maru served us. Wifi was strong, quick and reliable. And after breakfast, Maru arranged for us to be dropped at O’Cebrerio for us to start our walk. A lovely offering and nice surprise and a necessity as the walk from Pedrafita to O’Cebrerio was quite an incline and lengthy. I would highly recommend staying at this property. Outstanding host!

Amazing Service and Friendly People

This was the first hotel I stayed in before starting my Camino walk officially! I had started my journey in Leon via Barcelona and Madrid and had been traveling for a few days so I wanted a proper hotel before beginning my hike and I wanted a good nights rest. This hotel was more than I needed it was like new clean and I had my own bathroom in the room I stayed in. The innkeeper gave me a ride up the mountain to the next town early the next morning this was free of charge but I gave him a small tip. The hotel is attached to a restaurant which was Top notch too! Unused Camino Facil or JacoTrans to take my backpack over the mountains to Samos as this was a Very long day of hiking for me and it worked out perfectly! I highly recommend!

A very nice place indeed!

Reviewed By Constantine430

This is in Sabugos. Slightly away from the camino trail but the hotel provides free transport to the trail. It is cosy in that when you arrive, they light up a wood fire on the lounge. One can have a beer and relax. The rooms are comfortable and clean (with central heating). Home cooked dinner is served. The food and wine they serve is good. The place is operated by two very amiable ladies. It is also good value.

A treasure of comfort and taste in O Cebreiro

Reviewed By Membi1

Hostal Meson Anton is a treasure of comfort and good eating for those visiting O Cebreiro or on the Camino Way. The hospitaleros Diego and Rafael are welcoming and accommodating. You will enjoy a cabin-like feel in the rooms, but appointed with the most exquisite decor taste, and all the amenities and comfort that you expect to find in a fine boutique hotel. Additionally, if you want to rent bicycles or require transportation in the area, those services can be easily contracted from the establishment. I can’t say enough great things about my choice of Hostal Meson Anton, and my conversation and contracting was directly through owner Diego, who honored his commitment to reserve a room for me with private bath without any hiccups. As an added value, you will also enjoy delicious Galician cuisine from Ana’s kitchen at Meson Anton, so if you arrive tired from your pilgrimage, all your needs will be met by your gracious hosts. Treat yourself to Hostal Meson Anton … you won’t regret it!

Clean and basic

Reviewed By John P

Don't expect to be wowed by anything here. Front counter staff are surly and rooms are noisy with the central common area. That said, things are clean and well maintained. It's also situated right on the Camino and across from a grocery store, so perfect for pilgrims. There are also a couple cute, buy shy, dogs on the property. Friendly critique: add fly wire screens to your windows. It would be nice to enjoy a little fresh air without all the pests coming in.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit

Reviewed By StefanonHolidays

If you ever want to stay in a place right out of a JRR Tolkien novel this is the place. The whole building could fit right into the Shire and my room was no different. It was large, beds were good, but if you are of the tall kind you might have an issue. I am 5 and a half feet, so no problems there. Rooms are spacious, clean and well kept, WiFi is good. Bathroom is very clean and has all the mod cons, even a bathtub, there is just one small problem: Since the building is so low you might want to close the curtains before you enter the bathtub, otherwise there might a full moon rising, if you catch my drift. Staff is very friendly, passionate about their job and very helpful. Found a great place to store my bike.

An exceptional start to our Camino walk

Reviewed By Sheila75018

We spent the first night of our Camino 7 day trip in Casa Lucas. It is a simple small family guesthouse attached to a working farm. It is run by a lovely woman who could not have been kinder or more helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, each with its own bathroom. The beds were extemely comfortable. The evening meal was delicious, cooked by our hostess and served by her son who was also charming. Breakfast was also provided. A taxi was arranged the following morning to take us to OCebreiro 14km away, which was the official start of our Camino walk. This meant we passed by Fonfria just in time for lunch. The platter of cheese and cold cuts of meat, washed down with local wine was one of the culinary highlights of our 7 day trip. I cannot reccomend it highly enough.

I found it charming, clean, welcoming on a rainy day

Reviewed By 156bethk

My room was charming and reasonably sized. Very clean. I arrived in the rain on a cold day and radiators came on to take the chill out of the air and help to dry my clothes. wi-Fi was a little bit spotty but I took the opportunity to enjoy a book. Breakfast was usual light Camino fair with toast, scant meat, orange juice, and coffee. For those walking the Camino, the entrance is on the Other side of the Building on the road. The woman working there was not warm and fuzzy but perfectly adequate. Everyone wearing masks makes it difficult to judge reactions. By the way, nice gift shop as you enter the town.

On the Camino

Reviewed By Gmc2001-Un

Stopped in for a quick lunch while on the Camino de Santiago, Wait staff appeared entirely uninterested in welcoming or taking our order for almost a half hour. We waiting patiently in a very chilly dining area and were told that it was not possible to close the front door. When we finally got the attention of the woman taking orders she told us we had to relocate to another room. She could have mentioned that 20 minutes earlier. Then more waiting. The soup was bland, the pulpos was flavorless and we were very happy to be on our way after wholly unsatisfied experience. One of those places that makes you scratch your head on why they are still in business. Take your business elsewhere.

Best Customer service and excellent food

Reviewed By Pauline N

10 of us were staying in Piedrafita Del Cebrero when we walked the Camio. This is a 15 taxi ride from O Cebrero on the Camio. Tiny town and it was Wednesday when the restaurants close down. We however had walked into Rebollal and met Sara who agreed to open her restaurant especially for us. 2 hours later we were tucking in to amazing home cooked food. A choice of 3 starters , 3 mains and 1 desert with some excellent wine. All at very reasonable prices. She had gotten in extra staff especially for us. Couldn't recumbent highly enough. We did not stay here but had a look at the rooms , which were basis and very clean. If I go again on the Camino I will stay here.
