Revitalization, relaxation, & family reunion

We had not traveled to see family since 2019 and basically had been sheltered at home in Arizona since 2020. Fully vaccinated with boosters and brave enough to travel, we made reservations at Dinah’s for eight days of paradise. We stayed in the marvelous Fountain Suite, hosted our family, enjoyed delicious meals and drinks at poolside, relaxed in the swimming pool, and received the most remarkable hospitality from Dinah’s staff throughout the visit. The grounds were like paradise with landscaped lagoon, babbling waterfalls, beautiful ducks, and a soothing and relaxing atmosphere especially at night. We love Dinah’s! We can’t wait for our next visit. We needed its tranquility, safety, a place to be with family, and the caring staff.

Amazing surprise

Reviewed By MOuntainCat805

Our daughter found this little hotel for us after we became very disappointed at how one of the top hotel in SF we were staying came out of COVID by charging pre COVID 5 star hotel rate but providing three star service, while blaming all shortcomings on COVID recovery complications. We stayed at The Clements for a week and it was one of the best hotel experience we enjoyed. This is a big thing for me as I am a long time Platinum Member of a five star American hotel chain before COVID. Despite its size (less than 40 rooms), Clement Hotel's hardware, service, food, amenities and supplies rival any six star hotel I had stayed around the world. Most important, its staff is world class from the hotel manager to the fellow cleaning the lobby. The personal chef & open kitchen (part of the hotel package) is just a wonderful convenience and gift for those with special diet needs like my wife. The added bonus is that the Hotel is a block from a small shopping center, across the street from Stanford University campus and a stone throw away from the train station. A national car rental site is next door. I highly recommend this Hotel.

Ready for this trip to end, bad experience

Reviewed By Geoffrey K

I’m currently on day three of a five day stay here for business. I am very unhappy with my choice and cannot wait for this stay to end. My complaints: - I haven’t had house keeping yet. Guests have to explicitly request it which I only learned after day three of my stay. Once I asked for house keeping, I was told there was a minimum of a one day request time. They need to do a better job advertising that house keeping needs to be explicitly requested for, and I’m unhappy with their inflexibility with my request considering how long my room has not received house keeping. - Lack of exercise equipment in gym, pretty much just barbells even though the gym space is huge. - Bed and pillow were not comfortable- quality is far worse than the ones I’ve experienced at other hiltons - In the restaurant by the lobby, plates and food from finished guest are just left on the table and there is no one to clean up after people had left their table. I’m sure the plates will be eventually cleaned up but to me it’s unsanitary to leave the plates and uneaten food out there for so long. That said, the people that work here are really nice. The hotel just seems poorly run.

Located next to a nightclub, loud beats and screaming people every night of the week

Reviewed By bartoncc

Recently updated, trendy looking minimalist hotel in the middle of the action in Palo Alto. Tons of nearby restaurants, so no need for food delivery, just walk one block and pick up any type of food. The room is small but efficient and clean. Queen bed with four firm pillows. There is a tiny desk and a chair to get some work done. WiFi works flawless. There is a Keurig coffee maker with pods, but no snacks, neither a fridge, neither a safe. I didn't try out the TV but it looked new. Bathroom is good, shower on the smaller side (can only fit one person). There is complementary breakfast in a tiny space with fresh pastries (saw the guy delivering). There is no space to sit and get some work done (besides the breakfast area). Some people mentioned a curtain, my room had a barn door instead that closed off the bathroom from the bedroom (but not from the front door). The room is not well isolated. I could hear people walking above me (some small cracking in the ceiling) and people slamming their doors in the morning. This place is not for light sleepers. There is a nightclub nearby called The Patio @ Rudy's blasting loud beats and screaming people until 1.30AM on each of the three nights I've stayed in this hotel. For this reason, I won't recommend this place.

Great Stay!

Reviewed By esandds2019

This was the second visit to The Zen, and both times were great. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with every amenity we needed, including but not limited to an iron, a close up makeup mirror, and directed bed side reading lights. The shower has a wide rainfall type head, with a nice deluge of water. The hot water was instantly available. And the great breakfasts are available early - at 6:30 am. They even checked us in a little early, and offered us wrapped granola bars and bottled water, although the tap water tasted fine, and there’s an easily accessible ice machine. The customer service is spectacular in every way. They even located my wife’s hand made belt she’d inadvertently dropped. They emailed her and are mailing it back to her. Simply put, a terrific place!

Great authentic hotel!

This is a great authentic hotel in the center of downtown Palo Alto. The rooms are clean, spacious with a window that can be opened for fresh air. Bed is very comfortable, bathroom clean and water complementary. Breakfast is next door at Maxim's which is also very good. Maxim's opens at 7 and is closed on Monday. Staff at the Cardinal Hotel is super friendly. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip. TOP 5 stars!!
