Good except breakfast

Our stay was short but disappointed in the breakfast situation. Other than that the price was a little high for a non jacuzzi room but everything else was good. We would stay here again with no trouble if they bring breakfast back

Travelled here with family. Rooms are small and cramped. Housekeeping not so good as things were left sticky. Found alcohol bottles in closet. Crumbs scattered, toilet sounds like a running sink. Heard room beside us constantly talking and tv blaring. Would recommend another place in area.

On a spur of the moment decision to visit Manistee we stumbled upon the Dempsey Manor. We could NOT have been happier with our find! Jan the Innkeeper was sweet as can be and very knowledgeable on the area and the history of the home. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The rooms and common areas were so clean. All of the staff that we met were so friendly and attentive. There is so much history with this property and the town. The location is great and within walking distance to the downtown restaurants and shops. We could not have been happier and look forward to our next visit to the Dempsey Manor. A++ property!

Nicd Mom and Pop motel

Reviewed By Tom W

I am always a bit leary about staying in a motel that is an unknown quantity. Such was this motel. I had read the reviews so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. It is easy to see that this motel has been here a while. It is near Portage and Bear Lakes and houses workers in the area, fisherman, and folks just needing a bed like me. The rooms are large but the beds and furnishings are pretty old. The beds were ok but I wouldn't say they were comfortable. My wife and I had a quiet night and a good sleep. I'd stay here again if I was in the area.

Absurd Concierge Behavior

Reviewed By kennedygrieve

I am one of the previous customers who stayed in your hotel the night of November 13th, 2021. I lost my key earlier that night unfortunately. I got back for the night around 1:30am after being out with friends and went to the front desk to receive a new key. I was very rudely questioned on who I was and who everyone was that I was staying with. I was told that I was untrustworthy and was hesitantly given a new key after many times asking and having conversation back and forth with the concierge. The next morning I found out the same incident happened to my friend but instead of getting a new key he was forced to sit outside the hotel all night or the cops would be called due to him also seeming "untrustworthy" and "not a real customer of the hotel". I am appalled by this news and that someone who paid for a night in this hotel was literally kicked to the curb and refused a new key. This is completely unacceptable and I cannot even believe this happened especially on a night where it was snowing and freezing cold. He was not able to sleep all night and ended up getting pneumonia due to the extensive time he spent outdoors. The concierge was an elderly, white male.

Everything one would need to do any cooking was available. This was just a very comfortable, reassuring place to stay during this COVID time in our lives.

Clown Show

Reviewed By Y2770RLmatto

This guy is a clown. To rent a room from him you need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination! I would never do business with a person who thinks they have moral authority to try and do the bidding of those left wing ideals. Why would anybody in their right mind follow such nonsense that is unproven?!
