Maitland City Motel provides clean, comfortable and affordable accomodation located central to all attractions. The motel is within walking distance to a shopping centre and adjacent to the local Bowling Club which has a bistro and restaurant. Only 15 minutes from the Vineyards and Hunter Valley gardens. The motel has 33 rooms and there is an off-street coach and heavy vehicle parking areas. Winery tours for up to 20 persons can be arranged upon request.
Clean motel room
Reviewed By HolzbizStayed overnight as we had a wedding locally. This is a budget motel room so as expected the room was small and very basic however very clean and I was surprised by the comfortable bed. Although the room was so basic it met our needs as somewhere to crash the night. We attempted early check in without notice and the manager was very prompt to reallocate our room to assist with this so was happy with the customer service. Would stay here again as a ‘stop over’ type stay if needed.

Reviewed By circlette00Room 1. The room stank as soon as the door was opened. There was wet carpet outside the bathroom and on the bath mat. The smell of the mould had built up over days, not hours. When reported to the owners / caketakers it was claimed the room was used the previous day by a disabled person and that caused the water spillage on the carpet. Really? Oh, that implies by their own admission, they knew the carpet was wet yet, still rented the room. Disgraceful and appalling lack of professional behaviour. The owners / caretakers claimed there were no vacancies and sent a man to spray and wipe the wet soggy carpet. All this did was mask the smell and the carpet remained wet. This is not a way to rent out a room. There was no offer of a refund nor an apology. The owners / caretakers/ cleaners would have been aware of the wet areas, the mould and smell in the room. Shame on them. This is a public health issue. This was not my room. My friends stayed in the room. I hope they do not become ill.

Loved the amenities provided for booking direct with the motel (which I always try to do). We would stay here again if in the area.

Reviewed By AJPatoWe stayed here previously and returned again. The location and historical buildings are awesome. This time we stayed in the family room. Large room with everything you’ll need. It’s a great place to stay and explore the area. The service is lacking after COVID I suppose but it wasn’t that bad.

Reviewed By Sush-100Poor service not up to the standard. Initially I booked Queen room. When I checked in reception charged me $50 extra for king size bed which I never asked or agreed. I did received a call from team member after i made the booking, if I want to upgrade and i said no. -At check in not much information about hotel operation was provided only we are open until 6pm due to Christmas use room key to access the door and etc. not information provided about restaurants hours. - I was traveling with my 8 moths old baby, initially i did asked them for higher ( 1st floor) but didn't knew that have to use stairs twice to get in to my room. If i would have been at the reception surely offered room which is close to lift or even recommended for ground floor for easy access which i did when i was working at reception. -Room was not clean properly. Found girl's nail in the room, dust above TV cabinet. Not recommended.

We rambled through the amazing gardens, enjoyed tea and cake at the garden gazebo, nibbles in the gorgeous front room overlooking the gardens, played the historical piano and chatted in the formal lounge and played cards at the big dining table. Such a delight to enjoy such a historic mansion right in Maitland! Sarina was a lovely, helpful and non-imposing host. Good idea to bring some earplugs for the bats which were enjoying the garden too but a tad noisy at night from some of the bedrooms.

Very good option for a Hunter Valley visit
Reviewed By 650geoffgOn a three-day road trip to explore the Hunter, the East Maitland apartments were a good alternative to paying the much higher prices amongst the vineyards, and you get the convenience of a wider range of dining and shopping options. The keyless/staffless entry worked well and we felt secure with the complimentary under building carpark. The apartment was spacious with a fully equipped kitchen including full sized fridge, and generous bathroom. The furniture was more comfortable than many others of this style and the bed OK... just a bit firm for us but fine for many I'm sure. The room had all we needed and is conveniently located for nice drives to the more touristy wine areas of the Hunter. Dining is plentiful with many quality options within walking distance.

Loft Cottage provides two bedrooms, accommodating for four people, being suitable for couples, families and groups. The cottage also hosts its own verandah to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Surgeons Cottage and Loft Cottage may also be booked together, accommodating for a total of 11 people. The stone cottage has been fabulously restored with an open fireplace & luxurious bedding & towels with all the mod cons of a great bathroom. Morpeth is a great base for the Hunter with shops cafes & Bodells restaurant all within walking distance. Definitely recommend
