This is a lovely hotel. We loved it. Easy to find … park outside the gates, go to plaza mayor (easy to find in LaGuardia) and the Hospederia is right there. We took a superior room as a treat and it was spot on for our needs. Free ‘vino + tapas’ token per person too - which you use in the hotel’s cellar from 7.30pm. The cellar is one of the honeycomb of wine cellars within the city walls which is the reason why no cars are inside the walls … plus the street size! Parking easy too … all within a short walk and free. Staff friendly but if you can try to use at least a bit of Spanish, that will, as always, help you along. Breakfast good and although we did not use the restaurant, it looked good. Friendly but formal.

Erletxe

In a little town called Laguardia there's a solace for the tired, stressed traveler: it's a house we call Erletxe, where troubles fade into the warm and soft murmur of country life. Surrounded by nature, history and life, this country house has been offering accommodation to whoever seeks it under its roof — and leaving good memories in the minds of those of us lucky enough to share the slow flow of time inside its walls.

Wonderful place and the owners are SO helpful

We had a beautiful room with a view of the fields outside the city wall. Laura is the best tour guide, ever! She gave us great advice (and even called to make reservations) on bodega tours and historical sites. There are so many wineries in the caves beneath the city that it would have been hard to decide. The ones she suggested were perfect for us - the oldest, Casa Primicia, and the one still producing wine within the city walls, Bodega El Fabulista. The 2 tours were quite different and complimented each other. We also visited a great castle on our way to our next location, at her suggestion.

We booked two nights at this 4* ? Hotel I would not rate this and more than 3 stars no condiments in rooms to make tea or coffee , no room service every day fresh towels etc, mini bar badly stocked witch they charge for. But the one thing that was very annoying was we had ants ? in the room from the first day by the time we were leaving they were everywhere in the room and bathroom couldn't get out quick enough

--- A castle from the begining of the 19th century and restored in 1996. It has ten rooms and each one is named after an influential person of Laguardia and the Kingdom of Navarra. The decoration of the castle is an example of good taste and sobriety, not missing the fine elegance that enraptures visitors, who come here to spend their time in this idyllic and harmounious paradise with beautiful views full of the local colour. There are three very old function rooms decorated with Arabian ceramics and handcrafted coffered ceiling from the beginning of the 19th century worthy of note. Your expectations to enjoy the extensive menu of traditional dishes from the Basque and La Rioja cuisine will come true. The symphony of light from these handcrafted rooms will leave you with a feeling of tranquility and appreciation of art.

Everything about our stay was perfect. From the initial glimpse of the castle, to being formally greeted and immediately served a glass of wine. Our rooms had incredible views and the service was better than a five star hotel anywhere. Our luggage was even carried to the car for us. Our host made reservations for a private wine tour and tasting in town and dinner in the cellars of the hotel was another wonderful experience. This town and hotel are worth going out of your way to stay there. Your host will be sure your needs are met,

Posada Mayor de Migueloa

Located in amongst the world-famous vineyards of La Rioja, this prestigious, 17th-century palace is the ideal place to explore the world of wine and fine cuisine. The Posada Mayor de Migueloa is set in the former Viana Palace, which dates back to 1619. Nowadays it is a luxury hotel, but still retains many charming, historic features and antique, hardwood furnishings. These combine to provide an authentic and traditional, Spanish setting for your stay.

Nice stay with a disappointing ending.

Our enjoyable stay was ruined by the surprise 50+ Euro charge for a very small load of laundry we received at checkout. The fact that this fee was so extremely out of the ordinary for laundry fees we've paid in every other hotel in Spain (ranging from free to less than 10 euros) and that it was not shared with us when we dropped off the laundry, leads us to conclude that it was an arrancar (ripoff). Despite the charms of this small hotel, I cannot recommend it.

We were there one night , hotel is centric but is has no parking so it can be a bit hard to find one nearby. Staff are nice, but there is no lift to get neither reception or rooms and with and elderly aunt traveling with us that would have been necessary. Breakfast is good but dinner a bit overrated but good food

Good for one night

Reviewed By moniqx

Nothing special about the room here, but it was clean and warm, which was enough for one night. The food at their restaurant was good and the menu price fair, but the room was definitely overpriced. I guess it's because it was holiday season but definitely not worth what we paid. They include breakfast but it's so small that we would have preferred to have it somewhere else. The good thing is that there is free parking very close to the place (it's not the hostal's, it's for anybody in town).

Excellent Stay

We booked a premium room that has a balcony with two chairs and a small table to look out to the vineyards and the beautiful surrounding area. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was included in our rate and it had good options to get your day started. The location of the hotel was perfect for us to explore La Rioja for 3 days. The staff was friendly and attentive. You have parking right outside the hotel. Very interesting how you go down to your floor instead of going up. The check in area is the first thing you walk into. As you're going down on the elevator, you can see their bodega and the long lines of barrels. On one of the days we were there, we took a tour of their bodega and was very impressed. We would definitely stay here again when we return to La Rioja.
