Filthy hot tub and no housekeeping service
Reviewed By 7268It is impossible for a hotel that does not offer housekeeping during a 3-day stay to get anything greater than three stars. But unfortunately, this hotel is not just cutting corners on housekeeping. They're not keeping the pool or the hot tub clean. Over my 3-day stay I watched the hot tub get progressively more and more filthy. The room was reasonably comfortable. The air conditioning worked but it was noisy. The bathtub was a bit worn and dated. The staff were reasonably friendly and helpful.

Reviewed By Joanne MPositives: clean, nice lobby area, good breakfast provided, friendly staff. Very close to Thai Orchid restaurant which was good for dinner. Negatives: These are problems industry-wide, but the bed/mattress height was too high to easily get onto and I struggled significantly here. The room was quite far away from the elevator and lobby area too, which would seem like an easy thing to consider when planning the layout (and considering people with mobility issues).

Reviewed By DobsnDougoWe stayed here 1 night as it was close to crater lake national park and we were on a road trip to there from SF. We stayed due to TripAdvisor ratings and it didn’t disappoint. We just turned up and booked same day. Staff were helpful. The room was a good size and was warm, nice and clean. The beds were comfortable and sleep quality is excellent. Shower and bathroom were great. The hotel is close to shops and restaurants and was very quiet. Free parking and breakfast was good with a nice variety of options. Would stay again happily.

So-so stay at dated hotel
Reviewed By donnabY6020EPWe asked for a ground floor room online, but were given a third floor room. Person checking in my husband told him absolutely nothing about the resort. No info in the room, either. We had to search online for the resort to get info. The place seems very dated, many of the shops, restaurants on the property are closed. Staff seems undertrained, from the inadequate check in staff to the restaurant staff. Restaurant staff seated us at very dusty tables, and seemed to struggle to even do that. I was asked if I would like more water, and when I replied yes, the waitress filled her own cup with coffee and retreated to the kitchen to chat with her friends. I never got the water., and it took forever to get the check so we could leave.

Reviewed By pisaak2022Dirty toilet tank , something you saw when we just walked into the bathroom, yuck. Pool and Hot tub was closed as well as all exterior decks. There were no exterior amenities/ patio chairs or table, only a small smoking area out the side with some dirty old kitchen chairs and an ashtray.

At breakfast, staff checked in with guests to make sure they had what they needed and helped a guest that was having trouble make his waffle with patience and real kindness.

Little Gem in Klamath Falls

We looked on Trip Advisor and saw the wonderful reviews of the Golden West Motel so took a drive to check it out. As mentioned by others, this is an older style motel at the end of town, nothing too fancy from the outside. We spoke with the owner, Luisa, who was absolutely lovely. She insisted on showing us the room and we knew right away this was the place for us. It was, as mentioned, perhaps one of the cleanest rooms we've ever stayed in. The real cups for our drinks, ground coffee, candies on the bedside table, were the added touches that made this place so special. The bed was very comfortable too. Luisa offered to lend us any dishes etc that we needed if we planned to eat in the room but also offered her suggestions for dinner in town. There was a little road noise later in the evening - not too much - but we had the window open - probably wouldn't have heard it otherwise. If you want a "chain motel" then this isn't the place for you but I highly suggest you check it out before committing elsewhere. We would definitely stay here again!
