Historic needing cosmetic attention

Quaint historic hotel needing cosmetic attention. Our room was very musty, cob webs and broken window. Bathroom is extra tiny! We ate in their restaurant using the outside veranda. It was very nice, but lacked ambiance. The table of drunks shouting profanity overshadowed any pleasant conversation at our table.

My wife and I stayed at the Carter House. The service was outstanding from the moment Sarah checked us in - until Ian served my complimentary wine - until Troy greeted us for breakfast. The staff did all the "little things" from recommending a great dinner spot to making my breakfast burrito to order. If you have a chance stay at the Carter House.

Bad hotel experience

Reviewed By Paradise29546

If you value sleep and rest don't stay here. Beds and mattress are super old and lumpy, when a room change was requested front desk said they are all that way. Maybe in a few days we can do something. Front desk staff were rude all four I dealt with. Staff at breakfast room and cleaning staff were very nice. It was so bad we left early, after hiking all day in the redwoods we wanted rest. I am a frequent Hampton customer and this was so below what I am used to, complete rip off.

Spectacular spot right on Trinidad Bay in far northern California

Reviewed By PrettyGreen

We enjoyed our stay at the Trinidad Bay B&B, the perfect location to base ourselves for hikes in the redwoods parks and along the rugged coast. Tyler is an attentive and charming host. We were in the cozy Crabpot room which is charming -- especially for the fabulous window seat, generous enough for two to relax and read on a rainy afternoon, which we did. The view is spectacular and ever changing. Breakfasts are generous, on the rich side, though Tyler says he can accommodate any special dietary needs. The dining room looks over the Bay and is such a great place to start the day. Note: The cancelation policy is rather more restrictive than other lodgings, so be sure to read the policy when you make your reservation. We would stay again because it's just such a perfect spot for exploring this phenomenal coastal area.

A wonderful independent option to support the community

Reviewed By Cameron A

Danny was so helpful and kind at the front desk. I arrived late, and he made sure that I had parking and everything I needed. The room was clean and quiet. Parking and the hallways are covered and dry without the musty smell you can get in such a humid and rainy environment. I will definitely recommend this independent hotel to friends and family.

great getaway

This was a wonderful place for a short getaway. Shelter Cove is an isolated area that requires a difficult drive, however the end result is worth it. The innkeepers were very accommodating. We went to bed hearing the waves crashing and woke up to the sound of seals barking.
