Sketchy - No Breakfast

Reviewed By Monica D

When I travel I usually stay with BW but this time was not a good experience. I thought this would be a safe hotel but to my surprise it was not. I asked for a handicapped room on first floor. I was put on 3rd, also NO HOT BREAKFAST, It was advertised hot breakfast. People were parked in handicapped parking with no tag. It seemed like an area that drug deals were being done. I drove to back side of building being there was no parking in the front and the door was locked. Guest relations said the lock it at 8:00. I asked her where do people park, it's not safe! There was all kinds of shadiness going on outside and I was not about to walk around hotel. I finally got a parking spot after 20 min. someone pulled out. Carpet in room was nasty with stains. Positive, the bed was clean and comfortable. Won't be staying again!

Hidden gem

I realize being in the Medical Center, Blossom is probably well known. But as a Houston native staying here the first time due to a housing emergency, I never knew it existed. I had to find a nice place to stay that was pet friendly. I didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised and the friendly Texas welcome I received. My room was very well appointed with a huge flat screen TV and the Astros game on. The front desk check in was easy and I was informed I’d get a free glass of sparkling wine upon check in! My little pooch seems very happy and content too. I will definitely recommend this place for out of town guests or anyone who needs to be close to the Texas Medical Center.

Because I am a Amex Platinum member - my room was upgraded in addition to my access to some of the extra benefits. My room was nothing special, outside of the high floor - the view wasn't the best. But I chose that without knowledge of what I would be seeing. Personally, I am not a call down and complain or visit the desk when social distancing is available. They had on the Hilton app a messaging system that was absolutely amazing. The response was absolutely quick and regardless of how mundane or weird my question was - they were answered quickly. Being from the Chicagoland area - you become accustomed to certain things and how they are just available. There is no shop in the Hilton open late, so for me working a convention. I couldn't get simple things that I would have loved. I.e. Chocolate milk to go with my cookies or just a bag of chips. The highlight was going up the the Executive Lounge and grabbing my breakfast before the day started. Overall it was good food, outside of the nasty link sausage - which they should truly get rid of. They were horrible. They did a check to see how my stay was going and I told them they were currently at a 7.5 and why: they had oatmeal daily and the sausage links. I like bacon. Before the end of the day - they had spoke with the Food and Beverage director and he gave the directive to prepare some grits and ensure that there was bacon available for the remainder of my stay. When I arrived on the floor, the host jumped up to alert the folks that needed to know. I got my bacon and a fresh batch of grits. There was a snafu with housekeeping and picking up the dishes - but again, after mentioning it in the Hilton chat - they were quickly resolved, which is exactly what you would hope for. I enjoyed my 10 days / 9 nights in the Hilton. Thanks to Shavella, Mackenzie, Claudia, Betty, Monica and the other outstanding staff at the Hilton.

Modern Classic

Reviewed By TravelBugLA

It had been many years since I had experienced a stay at the Hotel Zaza, so many, in fact that the last time was when it was known as The Warwick. I had stayed there with my husband just prior to the closing and was fascinated by the hotel’s history, involving such luminaries as writer Edna Ferber, which we learned from the staff and from the hotel literature. I was so taken that I snapped a photo series and used in a graphic design class I was taking at the time. After the reopening we would visit to dine in the restaurant and always came away satisfied and impressed by the attentive service. We got a kick out of the Zaza limos with their longhorns affixed to the front grille parked just outside, but did not have an occasion to stay there. Recently I had to stay in Houston overnight and decided a return visit was long overdue, and reserved a Fantastico Suite from their list of regular guest rooms. As it turned out, the suite was not available when I arrived due to a malfunction, so I was upgraded to an even larger Divino Suite with a spacious living room and dining area with a table large enough to accommodate 6-8 diners. Each of the Zaza’s spacious suites has a unique décor, and mine was an Asian-inspired blend with European touches such as a dramatic crystal chandelier hanging above the dining area table. The separate bedroom was amply sized with large windows offering excellent views from the second-highest floor. The suite also has floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room and dining room, all with blackout curtains. Between the living area and the bedroom was the well-appointed bathroom, with a shower and a tub. I ordered room service from the restaurant which arrived quickly and contained ample portions that were well-prepared. The hotel staff was courteous and professional, which, all told, made for an extremely comfortable and pleasant stay, and I look forward to a return visit to this old/new favorite.

Nice visit to Houston

Reviewed By amanthaj

We usually stay with family when in Houston but had MANY family members in town for a graduation so we chose this hotel as we are loyal Best Western customers and it was a convenient location. Room was clean, quiet, and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had somewhat limited hot items but the waffles, cereal, pastries, and fruit were tasty. We will definitely stay again if needed when visiting Houston.
