Nice lodge

We stayed 3 nights at the Grand Lodge in June 2022 through an Airbnb rental. The hotel was clean and check in staff friendly. I can't comment on the restaurant/bar or gift shop as they close in early May until late June. No problem as we ate all our meals in Crested Butte, where we had many choices. The Lodge was only 10-15% occupied which was great. The location was good for our hikes in the area.

Great location and lovely unit

Reviewed By TiffanyA26

Updated review based on a response from the manager. This is the second time we've stayed at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square. Paid more for a "penthouse" unit and while it was just across the hall from the last unit we rented, it was larger and much nicer with a view of the mountain. Pros: - Location is fantastic, right behind the lifts and ski valet is very convenient. - Definitely appreciate the way the unit is furnished and decorated. A huge upgrade to the place we stayed previously. One of the two beds is very comfortable. - Housekeeping replaced a broken coffee pot without having to ask. They'd put it in the dishwasher and the pot cracked during the cycle. Left it on the counter and it was replaced that day. - Appreciate that they use full, refillable containers for toiletries and at least made an effort at supplying liquid hand soap for each of the sinks. Minor: - I was not expecting any housekeeping, but just reviewed the email they sent and it is included if you stay more than 3 days (we're here for 5). They emptied the dishwasher and the kitchen trash. I appreciate that. I have come to expect no housekeeping during Covid Additional supplies for the bathroom and/or wiping down the counters would have been preferable if they were going to bother coming in. I wish my expectations had been set. They did knock early (9AMish) on our last full day and asked if we needed anything. - Hot tub and pool were unavailable at least one day. The website said they were open when we booked. When we inquired today as to the location of the pool (not obvious), they unapologetically said they were "checking the chemicals" and to check back in a few hours. Thankfully the manager returned my call to explain that someone had spilled a beer and that upset all the chemicals and what not. I understand that and the sincere apology offered. Just wish that would have been stated in the first place. - No measuring spoons in the kitchen. Thankfully we bring most of our own necessary supplies. - Second bed isn't very comfortable, nor is the couch.

Sub expectations

BLUF: Look for a newer establishment in the beautiful area. Like to tell you about our recent stay at your Crested Butte Hotel and Spa, overall your staff, especially the check in desk was nothing short of inviting, welcoming, and extremely professional! As for the facilities it was definitely borderline sub standard compared to the cost per night accommodations. Where to start, the hot tubs only a maximum of 1/3 of the jets were actually functioning, the indoor hot tub seemed like there was some type of film blowing from one of the jets, tv was extremely small could barely see it from the bed, power from the night stands had extension cord running from one side of room, worst thing was that there was used tissues under the bed next to the balcony door, totally disgusting and unacceptable for the establishment and cost expended. Definitely hope this was a one time issue and isolated incident at your establishment. Sincerely a concerned patron

Old Town Inn

If the mountains are whispering your name, give us a call. The Old Town Inn makes a great home base for your Crested Butte adventures, wild or civilized. The inn offers all the amenities of a traditional hotel, but feels more like a bed-and-breakfast or European inn, where guests are welcomed like family. Here you can launch your day’s adventure with a hearty Continental breakfast and end it with home-made cookies and treats and a luxuriant soak in our outdoor hot tub. Though we offer one of the best lodging values in Crested Butte, we take excellent care of our guests. Our 33 rooms are spacious and spotless, most with two queen-sized beds (or ask about our king rooms or suite if you prefer). Rooms feature cable television with HBO, phones with voice mail messaging, wireless Internet access and daily housekeeping service. We also provide guest laundry facilities and fax service. We are located at the entrance to Crested Butte, right next to the Town Park, Center for the Arts, movie theater, grocery store and restaurants. We’re just a short walk from historic downtown’s shops and eateries and from cross-country skiing, hiking and biking trails. Just a few steps away, you can catch the free shuttle bus to the ski area. We’d love to be a part of your next mountain getaway.

Don’t recommend

This is a very convenient, cute, clean place. However, we had an extremely poor experience and won’t ever be staying here again in our visits to come. Front desk personnel was missing in action most of the time; the whole process was very unorganized. As I type this, I have now been sitting at the front desk trying to check out for over an hour with no personnel on the property AT ALL and no one answering any of the contact numbers; including the general manager. This was the icing on the cake after we spent the entirety of our stay with NO WORKING A/C! Which we went to the front desk DAILY about and no one bothered to even look at it. I am 3 months pregnant and was burning up every night; needless to say I did not sleep well here at all. We love this community and want to support it but this is intolerable at this point especially when spending over $100 a night. I recommend staying elsewhere.
