Great place to stay

The location is great with many shops, restaurant's and other activities to choose from. Being so close to beautiful clean beaches and walkways just added to our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our 3 bedroom apartment was very nice and well appointed. Having good secure undercover car parking with easy access was appreciated. This is our second stay at Mantra Twin Towns and we are looking forward to returning in the near future. The only downside was poor internet.

Very tired apartment, not cleaned properly Washing machine overflowed on our last day flooding the kitchen area. Dishwasher did not work consistently Receptionists very helpful and lovely as were maintenance but required us contacting them pretty much daily. Even had a dirty wine glass in the kitchen cupboard! We’re given some compensation but definitely overpriced for an old apartment Asked for contact to manager but never received this including after an email sent after our stay.

We stayed here overnight for an early morning flight from the airport, and would definitely recommend the motel for travellers in a similar position. The man who greeted us was super friendly and helpful, explaining everything we needed to know and even giving us some recommendations for what to do on our trip to New Zealand! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely stay here again.

LOCATION Kirra Beach is a “suburb” of Collonagatta but one needs to take that phrase with a pinch of salt given that “Cooly” as it’s affectionately known, is a little town with a population, according to Wiki, of about 6,000 people, so being a “suburb” doesn’t mean much, except that it’s approx 1.5 km from the town centre, which I take to mean the “The Strand” shopping arcade. It’s close enough to be able to walk, or a quick $8 Uber or taxi ride. But it is a slightly quieter and laid back location making it more desirable than being right in the heart of the action, and it does have a few little shops and restaurants nearby like the Seven-Eleven grocery store, a chemist, newsagent and bakery. APARTMENT We stayed for one weekend in apartment 607 on level six. It had a lovely ocean view and we were very happy with all aspects of our short stay. The apartment had one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in cupboard, a lounge-dining combo, a kitchenette, a balcony, a long passageway with three cupboards (none of which were usable for us though) and a second bathroom which housed the washing machine and dryer. The apartment has been nicely decorated in light colours, giving it a bright, airy and spacious look and feel about it that will lift your spirits the moment you walk into it. The bedroom was super comfy with a queen bed, two bedside tables - each one with two drawers, a shelf, and a lamp - and a small TV on the wall. There were also two mirrors, one on the wall and one behind the door, and a hall table. The walk-in cupboard situated between the bedroom and the en-suite bathroom was a handy feature, with lots of useful storage space including shelves, a tallboy with baskets instead of drawers, hanging rails on both sides with plenty of hangars. Inside it, we found an iron, ironing board, fan heater, spare blanket, hair dryer and standing fan, although the latter we didn’t need as the air con worked pretty well to keep the place nice and cool. Having the walk-in ‘robe strategically situated between the bedroom and the en-suite bathroom is a genius idea, to give that extra bit of privacy in the bathroom. Both the walk-in robe and en-suite bathroom had solid wooden locking doors. There was a sliding door leading onto the balcony. In the passageway, were three additional cupboards although none were really usable for guests. One cupboard, nearest the balcony, had the various cleaning materials in it, like broom, brush and pan and vac, plus the internal clothes dryer, which didn’t leave much room for anything else. The middle one contained a large ugly contraption (see pic) which looked like an instrument of medieval torture but I’m assuming had something to do with the air conditioning, whilst the third cupboard, nearest the front door, was filled with books (again, see pic), which also didn’t leave much room for anything else. But it didn’t really matter as there was ample storage space in the kitchen cupboards, the walk-in wardrobe and the bedside table drawers. The lounge-room had two comfy leather chairs, a modern coffee table and matching TV unit, and also a sliding door to the balcony. The large dining table with six chairs was well situated alongside the kitchen counter and made in-house dining comfy and practical. Being on the sixth floor meant that it was fairly quiet, although we could still faintly hear traffic noise down below, but it didn’t bother us, and in any event, this is the quieter part of town. There were a number of different entertainment contraptions on offer and four different remotes were needed to operate them. I couldn’t really figure it all out, but was content with watching the free-to-air channels on TV. KITCHENETTE The kitchenette had everything in it that one would need to self-cater, including a microwave, fridge, stove and cooktop, kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery, glassware, sandwich maker, salad bowls, pots and pans, scissors, draining board and dishwasher. Sponges, wipes and tea towels are supplied as well as a small quantity of dishwashing powder and dishwashing liquid. I can’t think of one item that was overlooked. All the appliances were in good working order and easy to operate. I did note that in the one drawer of the entertainment unit underneath the TV was a stationery wallet packed with instruction manuals for the various appliances. It was all a bit higgledy-piggledy and I couldn’t have been bothered to sort through them. BATHROOM The ensuite bathroom was huge, with a spa bath, a shower, toilet, basin and masses of storage space in the vanity underneath the basin. The shower cubicle was well designed with a raised floor to prevent any water spillage onto the floor during showering. The water pressure was excellent, and the shower head could be tilted to any angle and moved up and down into a comfortable height, no matter what your size. The drawers and shelves in the vanity were good for being able to store all your toiletries and keep them dry. There was only one towel rack, which was a bit meagre, at least two are generally needed, so one poor towel always ended up hanging over the shower door. SERVICE I found Dawn, an easy person to deal with. She handled my booking over the phone, and was friendly, polite and accommodating, even though we had booked at the last moment. We were a little late arriving just before the office closed at 4pm on Friday afternoon, and I received a courtesy message from Dawn just to confirm that I was on my way. Checking-in was quick and easy. Dawn and her husband Peter, run a tight ship, and full credit to them, because the place is well maintained and it hums like a well oiled machine. PROVISIONS Just a quick word on provisions: You’ll find only a limited supply of soap, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher powder, washing machine soap etc: I guess what in the trade they would call a “starter pack”. So if coming for any length of time, it’s advisable to bring your own provisions, or alternatively, there’s a well stocked Woolies Supermarket in the Strand Shopping Centre, an easy 15 minute walk from the apartment, where you’ll find just about everything you’ll need. PARKING We had one allocated parking spot in the basement garage, which we found very convenient. From there, you can get the lift directly to the reception on level 1 or straight to your floor with the fob. The garage is opened with the same fob, which is easy enough and nothing is needed to exit, just drive up to the garage door and it will magically open on it’s own. SUMMARY We had a very pleasant weekend and everything ran smoothly, from booking to check in and check out. The apartment was spacious, airy, light and comfortable and the location is perfect to enjoy a quiet and relaxed weekend. The common areas are all clean and tidy. Having two lifts in the complex is a blessing, with no hanging around waiting for one to arrive. My suggestion for improvement though would be for a later checkout. 10.00am is too early, and makes one feel rushed on the last day of one’s holiday, as apart from packing up, one also needs to ensure that the apartment is left in the condition that one finds it. 11.00am would be a more reasonable time, and given that incoming guests can only check in after 2pm, this would still give cleaners adequate time to do their work. Tidying up the comdenium of instruction manuals by removing those that aren’t needed anymore and replacing the battery on the wall clock would also help improve the overall experience. Thanks Dawn & Peter.
