Reviewed By kevinhF32Everything is great about this place! The staff is helpful and friendly. Yolande, the manager is professional and accommodating. We visit here every year (for 10 of them) and have had the same great treatment every time!!! The suites have everything you need and are quiet. There are several restaurants in walking distance. The best is the Royal Taj across the parking lot. Amazing!

Loud music and marijuana on multiple floors of the building late into the night
Reviewed By fattyfatty2b4Unfortunately this hotel is tolerating marijuana being smoked in multiple rooms on multiple floors and rap music played late into the night in the rooms. My air conditioning would not speed up and did not cool down the room enough to get a good night of sleep but I was already too tired to put up with maintenance.

Clean hotel, friendly staff, somewhat shopworn
Reviewed By caj111I stay in Hampton Inns because of their consistency - I know what to expect when staying at them and they have a great product that usually doesn't disappoint. This place seemed to be among the older Hampton Inns and in need of a facelift. Some of the furniture and walls in both the rooms and common areas showed some serious wear and tear and in need of replacement. The pool, while mostly nice, had a large heavy chip in the bottom and elsewhere. That said, the room and common areas, llike any other Hampton, were kept super clean and had a strong and dedicated staff. Room was super quiet at night, I did not hear a thing from the neighboring rooms, hallway or outside - a big plus considering the noise at the previous hotel we stayed. Plenty of places to plug in and recharge phones and laptops and a television with more channels than you'll have time to watch. Breakfast was very good with tasty food and looked over by a sweet and wonderful woman named Albertha (hope I have the spelling right) that they are very lucky to have. On top of that, Kamari (spelling?) at the front desk was incredibly helpful and friendly, and knew the area very well. This hotel is lucky to have them both. There are a number of great restaurants in the area and they keep the list up to date (they hand it out at the front desk, which is actually a good idea because the lists of restaurants kept in rooms aren't always accurate and difficult to keep up to date). This place is convenient to the highway and not that far from either Baltimore or Washington, DC. We loved going in the pool after long hot days of sightseeing. As long as the worn-out furniture and other physical defects doesn't bother you, this place works just great. But I have to think they will really need to move on fixing this place up better real soon or they may not fare so well in the next inspection by the franchisor.

smoke stench permeated the room

The location was great However, I don't think I could stay here again because of the stale smell of smoke that lingers in the room I stayed in. I requested a non-smoking room, which I got, because the placard inside the room says its non-smoking, however, I just couldn't stand the smell. Maybe it used to be a smoking room?

The breakfast and coffee in the morning was on point. I highly recommend this hotel and will be back in the future.

Absolute worst hotel stay!!!
Reviewed By WillLangston59If I could rate this a zero I would. I spent two nights here & it was the worst sleep ever! Upon checking in the desk clerk had absolutely no customer service skills. Being a point’s member didn’t matter to him. Not one time did he look me in the eye. Points member or not, he didn’t bother to tell me about the breakfast. Since this was my first visit at this hotel location, he gave no direction to the elevator. I didn’t find out until the next day that you had to ask for room service. That info should have been mentioned at the time of check-in. If that was enough, my first night there there was a party outside in the parking lot. I believe the hotel is poorly constructed because you can here the guest above our room walking during the night. At times it sounded like they were moving furniture up there. I called the front desk & it stopped until the next night. On top of all that during the night I could smell marijuana, unsure which room it was coming from but it certainly circulated in my room somehow. I travel a great deal for work and this was absolutely the worst experience I’ve had at a hotel. My sleep was interrupted during my entire stay. You couldn’t pay me to stay at this hotel again, ever!!!! I’m certainly warning my friends, colleagues & associates.

Reviewed By G5345ERralphdHad a one night stay in Columbia at this hotel for a kid's soccer tournament. The room's level of finish, amenities, and cleanliness were... fine. Certainty not exceptional, but not terrible either. The TV worked perfectly, as did the shower, hair dryer and room temperature control. However, the pool was closed, the wi-fi was down during our entire stay (with no advance notice or "heads up" during check-in), and the ice machine on our floor was broken. In my limited interaction with the staff, I found them to be courteous. All in all, I would give our experience a C+. If we come back to Columbia again, I would likely seek other accommodations.

Reviewed By U1287ODgregaI’m sure there are jail cells cleaner then this place. The awful smell like Garlic all over the place. The carpet is filthy and the bathroom is disgusting. I am stuck here for 9 days but a valuable lesson is learned. Never again. Stay away from this place.

Reviewed By SvjaniRoom frayed, dirty, malodorous. Young mothers with young children with no discipline squealing through the night. Night after night. Noise from rooms on same floor and those on other floors more than annoying. Not a good mix with travelers. Exchanging bath linens a joke. Waited hours to receive more stained linens. Curtains torn. Counters damaged. Large stains on carpet. Skimpy breakfast. Employees at check in very nice and accommodating. Unable to checkout earlier with Expedia. Never again. Never. Dump. Did I say Dump?!
