Good place to stay for Nat’l Park visits.
Reviewed By WA_traveller57Stayed here 2 nights while we were visiting Carlsbad Nat’l Park and Guadalupe Mountains Nat’l Park. We were greeted with friendly staff member. The hotel is updated and clean. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were glad we had the extra space because we did use the couch after we returned from the park to relax. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast had the sweet rolls but only instant oatmeal and no hard boiled eggs. The egg option was different each morning. Overall, it was a very nice property. Pretty typical for a Holiday Inn Express. I recommend staying here while in Carlsbad. We walked to a fantastic Mexican restaurant Carniceria San Juan de Los Lagos too. Across the street is a Subway where we picked up sandwiches to take to the parks.

Still Hampton, but Needs a Renovation
Reviewed By Karen JThis hotel is really in need of a renovation. Staff was excellent, beds and pillows comfy, but everything is really rundown looking. And for some weird reason they have super low light bulbs so the room felt extra dark. We anticipated better for $200 / night.

We are off State Highway 180 with easy access to State Highways 285 and 62. Living Desert State Park, Lake Carlsbad Beach Park, and Bataan Recreation Area are within 10 miles. Caverns National Park Headquarters is less than a mile from our doorstep. Cavern City Air Terminal is less than 10 minutes away.

Reviewed By jkapModern, clean hotel with sitting area in room. Good location to get to Carlsbad Caverns. Supermarket close by. Nice outdoor sitting area, but doesn’t have a pool. Staff very friendly. Water bottles were available and breakfast was ok.

Reviewed By Roxanne MGreat staff, friendly and helpful. Good spot for touring the area: caverns, Roswell, etc. The included breakfast was amazing. Traveling with teenagers, food is important! Clean, spacious rooms. Great rates. Outdoor pool with towels provided. Plenty of hot water. Cookies and milk and popcorn out on your check-in. tea & coffee available 24 hours, and the fabulous breakfast.

Not a great stay
Reviewed By IluvtotThere’s a few more negatives than positives for our stay at this Fairfield. The room was ok but the box of Kleenex was empty. I tried calling the front desk for 10 minutes only to get an automated loop. Went to the lobby and found 3 other guests looking for someone to help them. After another 5 minutes, the lady returned. There was an odd smell in our room so maybe that’s why the window was open when we arrived. The road noise is very loud. While watching the Peach Bowl the tv reception became very pixelated and then the tv turned itself off. As avid Spartans we weren’t happy about missing an important game changing play Breakfast had no hot food except for a Jimmy Dean sandwich to heat up in the microwave. When I opened the microwave, there was burned on gunk on the bottom covered up with a napkin. There were no spoons and no covers for the coffee cups (the attendant told my husband that there were covers but they didn’t fit the cups). Rest of breakfast options were a wrapped muffin, a pale pastry, granola bars and cereal which no one was eating because there were no spoons.

Reviewed By advmtbStaff was friendly. Room was very clean and well appointed. Breakfast so so, but that’s what you expect from this class of hotel. There was a full-size refrigerator, mini dishwasher, and stove top. If I were staying extended, I would have appreciated a more complete set of silverware and cooking utensils.

The pool is closed!
Reviewed By LLwLAfter a day with the family at White Sands National Park…. It was such a bummer to check-in and find the pool closed! It was104 degrees! With kids! This is why we booked the hotel. Such a bummer. Breakfast was provided… stick with the fruit, toast, the gravy, waffles, warm stuff I can not recommend.

Disappointed
Reviewed By Disappointed60616484The room was not cleaned, the bed not made. I found the sheets on the bed as if i was supposed to make the bed myself. The blanket and comforter were just thrown on the chair so that tells me that they were not even clean or changed from the previous stay. The trash was not thrown and no towels in bathroom. It is disgusting having to walk through a hall filled with the stink of smoke.
