In the heart of a pine forest, an exceptional natural setting. Many activities: pool, children’s club, etc. Ideal for bike rides with its 120 km of cycle trails.
Great area for the family, very enjoyable with lots to do. The lake is 1.5km away with some restaurants, beach and some shops. Carcans plage is the nearest seaside beach and is 3km away. Lots of cycle paths and walking around but is a quiet location. Lacanau-ocean is 10km away and the nearest supermarket is 10km in Carcans. There are not many facilities for children nearby or adults (lots of surfing and swimming) but it was a wonderfully tranquil holiday.

The Huttopia Lac de Carcans campsite welcomes you in the heart of the national forest of Bombannes. Camp under the pines, at the edge of the Carcans-Hourtin lake. On the program: walks in the pine forest on foot or by bike, swimming, water activities ... Go directly to the beach from the campsite and enjoy the vast pedestrian zone of the site. Total disconnection!
This was our second visit to Carcans , as we love the area and all it has to offer. As many other reviewers mention , the noise from the neighbouring campsite is horrendous. Every night of our stay this year was raging on till 4am. Last year we were told it was a one off so gave it another go , but clearly this was a lie and its an ongoing rave next door through the summer from totally reckless selfish teens.Huttopia must surely now address this with the campsite next door it will hugely damage their business otherwise as we, and it appears many others, will not return because of this . The facilities on the lake are great , high ropes , pedaloes are great and the cycle paths to the village and beach are fabulous Service in the cafe bar was attrocious- we waited an hour for drinks & longer for food which when served was cold , but they couldnt care less and walked off. Such a shame , we wont be back ,as it is the most beautiful location. If you think this is exaggerated and you go , beware , the best ear plugs will not work and you will not sleep for your whole stay unless of course you wish to join the party. Unlikely , as its sold as a family retreat.

We stayed 4 nights at camping le Maubuisson, the staff are friendly and helpful, good location, short walk to the beach and village, really good value, site a bit run down in places but still good for the money

Situated near Lacanau, the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Carcans Houtins, the "Les Cavales" Belambra holiday club in Carcans welcomes you in summer in a peaceful setting at the heart of a pine forest. The wooden chalet rentals offering simple comfort, ensure you have everything you need to enjoy a relaxing summer holiday with your family. Not far from the Club, the golf course, the 120 km of cycle paths and the adventure centre ensure that sports fans will want for absolutely nothing.
Smallest chalet ever seen, smelly, no TV, a door that clearly has been forced before so lets light through, no WiFi or telephone signal. Clearly this is not one of Belambra's best destinations and we got the feeling that when staff are chosen - it's not the best that go there. We booked Saturday to Saturday even though we could not arrive before Monday and would leave Friday (no choice). The receptionist assured us that she would leave an envelope with our keys/wrist bands etc at the desk because there would be noone there before 18:00. It wasn't there, there was noone to call, so after 4 hours in the car we still couldn't unpack or go to chalet. When we did catch up with her in the evening she said sorry but had forgotten. She told us that the chalet was open with the key inside. When we explained that it was no use if we didn't know the chalet number, she seemed confused by this simple fact. We proceeded to unload the car which involved about 4 return trips to the carpark to find (by chance I saw someone with one and asked where it was from) that there are in fact baggage trollies available if you had a coin - she didn't tell us and I hadn't noticed as they were away at the side and all were 'out' being used. The chalet was old, run down, very small and badly thought out smelt of mildew and a little dirty ( there was a full ashtray and ciggaret butt's on the floor of the balcony - we don't smoke, and my jacket in the wardrobe cave out covered with spider web). The chalet for three is a bunk bed in the hall (one bed only up high) and a bed settee in the lounge that takes all the space, no room for a table and chairs so if you want to eat in - then it must be on the small balcony. Cycle hire is more expensive here that if you go into town. I would never go again even if the price was right (we paid over 800 for the week). The Pierre et Vacance place nearby is way better but we booked too late to get in there this year.

LAKE, FOREST, OCEAN YOU GUARANTY FOR UNFORGETTABLE HOLIDAYS Only 150m away from France's biggest freshwater lake and 2km from the ocean The campsite "La Dune Bleue" is situated in the heart of the "Domaine de Bombannes", right next to the lake of Carcans-Maubuisson. Thanks to its privileged location between ocean and lake, unique holidays which rhyme with sports, health and tranquillity with the whole family are guaranteed.
This campground truely brought me back to many childhood memories back in the 80s. Very peaceful, this feels like sleeping at the end of the world. No noises and especially in May, we seeme dto be the only one camping there. There's a shop to buy your grocery and the lake is a short walk away where we went windsurfing and SUP. Cabin are basic, but have all the necessary things, even a full function kitchen. Just bring your own towel and bed sheets!
