Restaurant gone downhill

Reviewed By PCJC0802

Visited many times. Love the pools, proximity to beach, shops etc. Rooms clean and beds comfortable, however removing baths not ideal for kids and shower water leaks out over lip. Unfortunately a cockroach appeared when my grand daughter was showering! Change from tiled to laminate floor makes it much more noisy with people above. In fact overall it was much noisier in and outside into the early hours - maybe attracting a different type of customer than before or because the neighbouring Castillo is closed for renovation?! Changes to restaurant have ruined it - chairs uncomfortable, queues for food, lack of choice and poor or no labelling. Cold tinned veg? What’s happened to prawns and fresh pineapple etc??? As for the rude aggressive waiter - certainly not how it used to be! Entertainment no where near as good as before. I accept covid has affected some things and everyone is struggling for staff, however other decisions by management are letting this hotel down now and not everything can be blamed on a renovation programme. Sometimes change is not for the best and sadly this is definitely reflected in the restaurant.

Five star in facilities BUT is this a truly five star experience?

Reviewed By TRAVELBENUK

Just returned from a week away here and I'm going to try and be as balanced as I possibly can in my review. I'm also going to add as we are still in and coming out of a pandemic anything negative will always have that caveat around it. Firstly the positives: 1/ The hotel is well located on the beach front and just a short ride from the airport. 2/ There's a decent enough shopping centre just a few minutes walk away featuring quality shops rather than tourist tack style shops. There's also a large supermarket within should you need it. 3/ The hotel is a huge complex but easy to navigate and is also spotlessly clean. 4/ Staff are in the main very helpful and accommodating. Tom and Micaela from guest services are fantastic and I also found Betty on reception to be great. Make an effort to speak to them should you have any issues. 5/ The spa and services offered are great. 6/ If you have children the kids club is brilliant and offers a lot for kids to do and be entertained should you need it. One day is allocated for the pool area to be a family fun day and whilst can be a bit noisy it was brilliant fun with a huge blow up water slide, foam party and games. 7/ There's a mini golf course within the grounds of the hotel 8/ There's a well maintained children's play area 9/ There's courts for various games available 10/ Fantastic games room 11/ Pool area is great with plenty of room around and beds So based on the above (and there's plenty more going on I haven't noted) you are without question heading into a hotel offering five star facilities BUT here's where we head to the unfortunate negatives: 1/ The main restaurant - this is where you will have breakfast, lunch (if full board) and dinner (if half board). Whilst the food selection and quality is brilliant the food which is all out on display buffet style attracts flies and a LOT of flies. They were over everything and anything and the staff didn't do a thing. I really had to complain along with other guests for them to do something. ZERO initiative without us all complaining. They decided to put the large ceiling fans on and burn coffee beans which actually made a difference BUT within a couple of days the initiative to keep burning the coffee beans fell apart. The situation was actually revolting and something we ended up having to just put up with as best as possible BUT it seriously needs addressing going forward. 2/ We went to use the Japanese restaurant on the first night owing to the fly situation in the main restaurant and that was a disaster. Completely mismanaged. We sat down and eventually had to get our own menus, one table said they waited an hour before they got food, the table next to us offered some of their food to another table because they had been waiting so long. Eventually we just lost the will to stay and walked out. 3/ The pool area restaurant - this is open during the day for lunch, light snacks and drinks. At some points this was completely understaffed with vacated tables of food just being left and not cleaned up so the birds sit there eating away at it. The quality of the food also ranged from reasonable to dire. 4/ The servicing of our bedroom was hit and miss. On one day despite being out the room from around 10.30am and not returning till 7.00pm the room wasn't touched. They had clearly forgotten! Generally whilst clean there were often towels missing and they didn't always replace the toiletries. When you book and stay at a five star Sheraton you pretty much know what to expect and what you are getting. I have never had an issue in one before. This Sheraton however, just didn't quite hit the mark. It was five star in facilities for sure but in terms of experience we felt slightly deflated - just didn't quite have that five star feeling. The biggest issue was knowing you were heading into a restaurant every time of flies covering your food - situation really became unpleasant and a downer. Should you decide to use this hotel you will in the main have a pleasant experience and you'll note there's a vast amount of positive reviews. For us though the one visit was enough and we have no plans to return.

1st family holiday

Reviewed By siobhanm300

What an amazing 1st family holiday we had with our baby girl who turned 6 months old when we were there. 1st Impressions on arriving in our room was it was fab so spacious and everywhere clean. The housekeeping came every day to clean room and leave fresh towels. We stayed 1 week all inclusive and there was always plenty to choose from. We were really impressed with the evening choice only 1 night we struggled to find something and choose to go out but overall breakfast lunch and dinner were fab. I always ordered an omelette which was done fresh at the live cooking the guy made amazing omelette. The drink in the buffet restaurant was help yourself. Coffee machine/ juice machine/ tropical beer tap and there was 4 different wine taps also. Down at the pool bar there was a me u to show what is included in all Inclusive for food and drink as not all is included with this. All staff were very friendly and pleasant. We had an absolute amazing holiday at this hotel only thing that let's it down is entertainment. Night entertainment is almost non existent. The day entertainment isn't upto much either no pool activities for people to get involved and on the girls 2 days off there is no entertainment so I think there is a fab opportunity to make this good hotel excellent by ramping up entertainment as currently I would say it is more suited to a couples holiday who just want some chill down time. The entertainment girl was always very friendly and chatty. Don't go to this holiday having doubts as alot of reviews will make you feel as we honestly had An amazing 1st family holiday together and it's what you make of the holiday that makes the experience not wee nik nak bits like maintanance repair that needs done. We've just got through a world pandemic so I'm sure once trade picks back up they will be all over it. Also I love just how fresh and clean it smells when ypu walk in the hotel reception it is so big and pme to of sofas to chill on. The outside bar at front of hotel only opened on our last few nights there but that certainly added a better vibe than the lobby bar ? anyone going here on the near future will have a fab holiday that is for sure ? p.s if you love the sun all day I'd go for the loungers to the far left hand side( to the left hand if you are standing at the bar) as these get the sun from 9/10 right up till 6/8 at night so don't need to move loungers ? I also emailed the hotel prior to visiting for late check out package till 3 and for an iron which they had in our room for our arrival. Very prompt at replying and helpful

Great location

Reviewed By Grego1967

We have stayed at quite a few of the big hotels in Caleta and then booked this last minute as a cheap getaway, not expecting too much. However, we have been impressed with all this hotel as to offer. First of all it is in a great position, a perfect base to explore the resort, we have seen more of the resort in the last 7 days, than all previous visits. The hotel is clean, rooms and the general grounds. We stayed in a one bedroom bungalow, which has a small kitchenette, big enough for making breakfast, sandwiches, snacks etc. the bathroom is big enough with walk in shower, which was quite powerful and hot/cold as you wanted. The bedroom had double wardrobe and bedside drawers, again ample room for everything. The air conditioning unit is in the bedroom, would probably be better situated in the living area, although for me it was great, as I like a cool room to sleep in. Our daughter slept on the under sofa bed in the living room, which she said was fine, although room was a little warm at nights. There is a large patio, you get two chairs/ table and two sun loungers. The staff are all very friendly and extremely helpful, couldn’t praise them enough. You pay for using the safe, which I believe is the norm, very reasonable less than €20 for the week, unusually you leave a returnable deposit of €6 for each of the following air conditioning control, tv control, spare door key ( you only get 1). If it could improve slightly, I would say rooms need a little tlc

Me and my other half came here for our birthdays…we were welcomed with a lovely lady behind reception who gave us everything we requested. The room was perfect for us. Very spacious and it’s very clean too. The hotel has two pools one large one that goes quite deep and a nice sized one which is an infinity pool that has amazing views of the sea. The staff are so lovely and friendly, they will help you with anything you need. The TV wasn’t really working for us as an English couple as it was Spanish expect two or three channels that didn’t really work but due to the lovely weather we never had sit inside to use it. The breakfast is lovely some people had their opinions but me and my other half loved it. We came to this holiday on a half board so tea (dinner) was also included. This was not good. It’s very repetitive. It’s either overcooked or undercooked to put it simply. But we did enjoy the hotel itself so I can’t just fault it because of their food. I will definitely return just next to I would do bed and breakfast.

A strong 4 star hotel

Reviewed By darren c

Early June and we have been here for two weeks. This is our 4th visit to the island and this has turned out to be an excellent place to come.. Bedroom Very spacious Great bathroom with amazing shower pressure and unlimited hot water Wi-fi is very intermittant and you have to collect a code from reception, however one code did not cover the 5 of us for the entire 2 weeks and to date we have had 4 different codes and yet we still have it drop off from time to time Mattress are great and very comfortable Pillows - you only get the one, but can get an extra if you want it. The majority of pillows are very soft, but are very clean. Fridge - each room has fridge, we had two rooms next to each other and the fridge worked in one, but not well at all in the other. Air Con - for end of May/early June was not great. We had a fault with both AC's in the rooms - The Maintanance team was excellent in getting round to fixing them TV in the room has excellent number of english speaking channels (my daughter got to watch Love Island) Pool There are three pools and one has recently been fixed up - middle heated pool Baby pool and large pool are fit for purpose and very spacious with lots of beds. Yes there are signs of wear and tear, but this is a popular hotel so will have that and the hotel are working on these. Wi-Fi by the pool needs help. Food and Restaurant Excellent choice for all 3 meals. Restaurant team are prolific at keeping tables cleaned, dirty plates removed, drinks bought to the table - They work so hard and remain very pleasant Lots of drinks choice Breakfast is amazing for choice... Entertainment Was very varied and kept everyone entertained. Having small kids i loved it that the place closes at 11, so no late night rowdiness Reception Great team, always eager to please, multi-lingual and we neve felt like the hotel was trying to sell us excursions or additional services. Safe has to be paid for but they tell you at check in. The team also printed my return flight documents and did not quibble or charge.... Location Exellent - outskirts of the main town which is an easy walk. The place is situated on the sea front with several areas with real sand (which is rare in this part of the island). The grounds and the surrounding area are so clean and there is a SPAR suppermarkt in a decent shopping mall 300 meters away. I would recommend this place - sort the internet (we have 17, 14 and 7 year old that struggle to operate without the net) out and you will get a full house... Well done Elba Sara and thank you for looking after us so well.

Amazing value for the money we paid. A very relaxed place with a great pool area, no rushing for sunbeds. The rooms are dated but very clean, all the staff are lovely and always say "hola" We stayed B&B and the breakfast was fine, again you have to compare it against what you've paid which was about £3 per person a day on the booking. We loved the resort of Caleta De Fuste, lots of places to eat and drink from lovely Tapas to beach bars. We went in a group of 8 and had a fantastic time and would definitely return
