Tidy and clean hotel with excellent service

This my second stay at the hotel. I would say the hotel meets its 3* rating very well. It's clean and modern, the rooms are a good size with a fridge and good aircon. What pushes this hotel well above its 3* rating is the service you receive from all of the super friendly team working there. My French language skills being rather poor, all the customer team really do go a step beyond to be helpful with anything that you ask of them. This has been the case over both visits and I would fully endorse the hotel as a 'traveller friendly' establishment with a knack of looking after bewildered English travellers. The team working here clearly enjoy their job and it really shows with the warmth of their welcome. Well done to everyone at the hotel. Impressed !

Mixed feelings

Good location, copious breakfast, friendly staff but, considering COVID, poor hygiene in the bedroom - finger marks and squashed insects on the glass of the door leading to the balcony. When we asked the cleaner to do something about it, she said it was not her job and that the glass was only cleaned once every 2 months (!!!) by an outside company. Not good enough. Also, one person visibly on duty at breakfast was not enough for the numbers, especially since there was a sports team devouring everything in sight. Finally, there was no one on duty at the pool each time I went so rules were not respected - some men wore shorts, some people were on their mobile phones, etc., etc.

Terrible! Do not waste your time or money

My husband and I travelled to Belambra with our 2 small children-aged 1 and 2. Wow what a disappointment. They need to get rid of the 3 star status and move to 1 star. If you are over the age of 70 this is probably the place to be. Peace and quiet but with a sad feel. The buildings are old and the reception toilets are disgusting. It felt like a hospital or dorms. We had a 2 bed ‘privilege’ room. I would be afraid to see what standard rooms look like. The rooms are tiny and the bathroom too. We booked for 2 nights (supposed to leave tomorrow) but we checked out early this morning. Not worth the price or the drive.

Could be better

Check in and out is easy. Location is nice and quiet, right on the etang and next to the casino. Apartment wasn't great. It is small, no balcony or air conditioning. It's not well maintained, broken tap and mould in the shower cubicle. Beddings were not that clean either and towels not changed regularly like hotels. You need to clean at the end of the study or get charged for it. Swimming pools were nice and clean. Breakfast was ok. We didn't do any activities so can't comment on that.

took off a star for lack of WiFi

Reviewed By CathyFrance

I only stayed at the Neptune for one night, as a stopover on the way back from Spain, and didn't have breakfast or use the pool, so can't comment on that. There was a little confusion about our reservation but no big deal. When I first called to book the room, the person I spoke to was delightfully helpful (since we were going to be arriving late, she gave me the owner's cell phone number to call so they could open up reception for us) and when we checked in and out, the front desk staff were also smiling, friendly and professional. We had a standard room, which was pretty small, but fine for one night. My only complaint would be that the WiFi was not working, and they knew this when I called to reconfirm the booking and did not say anything. As someone who works via the internet, one of the reasons I booked this hotel was because it offered free WiFi. Luckily, I had a backup mobile modem with me, but if I hadn't, I would have been in real trouble. I wish they would have mentioned this on the phone when I called. Otherwise, I would say that this place is a good option if you don't require the internet. The location is great, it was easy to find parking nearby, and the staff was better than most hotels of this category in France.
