We spent 4 days at Teigur Guesthouse and could have stayed much longer. The house is clean and well maintained. The couple that run the place live upstairs and couldn’t do enough for us. The apartment has two double rooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. It was cleaned to a high standard everyday while we were out and the fridge restocked with everything we needed. A fantastic base in Iceland just outside the capital where prices are slightly less breathtaking than the scenery. This would be the ideal rental for a group of friends/two couples to explore Iceland from

Great Room

Reviewed By Aleena L

My friend and I stayed here for a night passing through. We got in a little late so didn't get to have dinner at the hotel, but we drove to nearby Akranes where we were able to grab a bite and bring it back. The room was a good size! It had a stove, microwave and refrigerator, as well as a small sofa bed. We were very comfortable there, hunkering down after a long day. Would recommend a stay here!

We arrived late ( 9PM) after a full day of traveling and hiking. The key's were in the door and our name was printed with instructions on the door :) However, the guesthouse owner still wait for us, welcome us and explain us everything refer the room and the stay. The guest house located in amazing place (see the picture we took on arrival ) As most of Iceland guesthouses it has a double kitchen to cock your meal and large dinning room, The atmosphere is warm and cozy ! The room was large and has a private toilet and shower - while all other guestrooms have a shared restrooms and shared bath The room was very clean and very comfortable As it was our first day in Iceland we didn't have the time to buy food in order to cock dinner The Guesthouse owner checked for us and explained which restaurant is still open ! Please remember: It's Iceland , people like to relax early :) We love our stay in Kirkjuhvoll Guesthouse and highly recommend it !!! Enjoy your stay

Guesthouse outside of Akranes

We stayed in Moar house for 5 nights if I remember (I'm writing this five months after our stay). There were four rooms in the house which shared the hall/dining area, the kitchen and the bathroom. During our stay about 3 couples came and went staying just one night. Probably as a stop on their way around the Ring road... It was a bit awkward to share the common area with strangers but we managed. It would surely be a fun experience for extroverts but we are both introverted. :) So just something to keep in mind when you book. I'm not saying it is a negative. We barely saw the owners who live the in the second house attached to the guest house. When we did see them they greeted us and smiled. We only once spoke to the lady and she was nice. We had a little chat about our travels, about their chickens (they keep chickens outside :)) and about their dog. Her English was fluent, we had no issues there. I'm writing this because some reviews complained which got me a bit worried before we booked but everything was fine. The guesthouse is very clean. Kitchen is small but contains all you need to make a simple meal. There is a large fridge, each room has one shelf assigned. :) There are bins for separated trash, pots and pans, cutlery, mugs and plates... boiling kettle and that glass jar with sieve to make coffee (sorry, don't know the English name for it). We found cooking oil and loads of salt in the cupboards so I doubt you need to buy salt. :) The bathroom and toilet are in one room. Everything is really neat and clean. You can park your car outside on gravel yard. You can do your grocery shopping in Akranes which is just a few minutes drive. They is the tourists' most favourite Bonus supermarket too. The view from our room was that of the mountains which we liked. There are two things I see as a negative: - the thing we did miss was a cupboard in the room - some place to hang or store y our clothes. We kept everything in our suitcases due to this. - another thing was that when we had company - other guests you could hear quite a lot through the walls which is a pity. I would happily book again though if we ever travelled in that area.

Host was very kind and the rooms were very clean. Even though the bathroom was shared didn't have much trouble, well coordinated among us.The breakfast was good with healthy options for fruits and vegetables. I liked the anchovies. Nice location and we got opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world. Breakfast time was fun as we had great people stayed we all shared our adventures. We had to get drinking water from the downstairs bathroom in the night, it would have been better to have water filled in a container for the guests.

Good place to stay to visit southern and western Iceland

Reviewed By scarlett_k2000

Quiet and clean guesthouse located in an unimpressing village conveniently located to visit southern and Western Iceland. Rooms are pretty small and simple but okay to spend the night. Shared bathroom and kitchen are clean and well maintained. And the living room is warm and cozy. They are advertising a wonderful breakfast included in the rate but during our stay we didn’t see any and we had to go to a small cafe in the village to get a coffee and a cookie.
