Reviewed By Colin BWe have just spent a weekend here and were overall pleased. Not the most professional welcome though. After only just walking through the door and giving our name, we were asked if we wanted to book the restaurant for the evening.... followed by an enquiry as to whether we wanted to book for the weekend !! Bit pushy to say the least. On the positive side, it's quiet. The surroundings are perfect. The rooms are clean, housekeeping is attentive and views across the lake are lovely. Staff are generally pleasant and professional, but a special mention to a chap named Max who went the extra mile. The setting here is great and I think that's what you're paying for. The drinks are overpriced as well. Pool is heated ( big plus ! ) 20 mins from the beautiful town of Laon. There is plenty of parking in the town so if you can drive then do it. A taxi is 50 euros each way.

Reception and check-in was handled most efficiently and a room at the rear allocated after a quick look at a front facing room – great service. Very comfortable room and bed with in-room coffee and water. Breakfast (exceptionally well stocked pantry with a good variety) is at a small additional cost and always most enjoyable. Recommended without hesitation and will be staying again!

Not disappointed once by the staff, they could not do enough for you. Very professional service from reception, restaurant, spa, cleaners and even the fat cat was friendly.

Reviewed By adamtL8622DUI have only stayed at the Ibis before, but the Best Western is not like an American one. The staff speaks passable English as long as you are willing to try. I used it as a way to improve my French. The restaurant is not great but I suspect that is due to COVID. Patrick seems to be the head waiter and does an amazing job. Overall, the staff has gone out of their way for me. Will definitely stay here again.

Reviewed By nigelmax2016If you want modern fittings, lifts and consistency don't come here, go to an Ibis (which are good in their own way). The hotel is centuries old with many interesting features that you feel very much in keeping with the atmosphere of Laon itself. That said the rooms have all the comforts you need, and everything worked. The concierge was welcoming and very helpful guiding to us to some restaurants that suited us. The breakfast was good and set us up for the day. The Les Chevaliers is well located, in the centre of the town yet not noisy with public parking nearby. If you are driving navigating the narrow streets and one way system take patience but it is worth it.

Great hotel but horrible restaurant!
Reviewed By johnrherzogThe hotel is comfortable and very well run. The huge black mark is the restaurant. We anticipated a fairly comfortable, mildly expensive restaurant offering contemporary cuisine. Frankly the service was remarkably bad -- certainly the service in the average pizzeria would be far more attentive, friendly and refined. For instance, when we finished one course, each of us left the cutlery on the plate. The waiter then dumped the cutlery on the table so that he wouldn't need to replace it. The cuisine was not much better. Our fish was drowned in at least 250 ml (one full glass) of an extremely sweet sauce. Fortunately we could rescue some of the asparagus risotto as it had been shielded by the fish. For dessert I opted for fresh fruit, and that was actually very good. The price would have been justified if the service and the cuisine were much much much better. We may stay at this BW hotel in the future but we will certainly be very very cautious with respect to the restaurants of BW hotels.

good no frills hotel with a greatl breakfast
Reviewed By sbpilot12After spending 3 Saturdays in a row staying overnight at this IBIS hotel in Soissons, I can recommend this no frills hotel with confidence. Room meets all the basic requirements - clean, comfortable bed, adequate shower, WiFI and TV. Only negative is there are a few minor spots of mold in and around the shower. The best thing about this hotel is the petit dejeuner breakfast. It is a very well stocked self-serve breakfast, including croissants, butter, yogurt, cheese, espresso machine, fruit, etc. Note, location is behind another hotel so follow signs to IBIS hotel once you're GPS says your ckose.
