10 Top-Rated Hostels hotel in Paris, Ile-de-France

April 25, 2023 Major Galusha

Paris, inspiring and timeless, is as beautiful as a postcard. Spiraling out from its central islands, its many neighborhoods each have their own character and energy. And the best way to discover their charms is on foot, whether you're strolling the bustling grandeur of the Champs-Elysées or seeking out the final resting place of a favorite figure at Père Lachaise. There's always a café or bakery a few steps away to restore spirits while you explore, or a gorgeously decorated shop window to remind you of this city's love of beauty. Every so often, as you lose yourself down another small street, you’ll glimpse the Eiffel Tower and be instantly reminded why it's so easy to fall in love with the City of Lights.

The Heroes of Belleville

The bed and showers were excellent! Super comfortable, and clean. The staff was so kind, helpful, and patient. We especially loved the detail of the tile superheroes on the floor of the bar. One employee in particular, the man with a moustache, tried his very best to help us identify the superheroes. Even though he was wrong about Optimus Prime, that doesn’t change our view of the hostel as a whole. :) 1000000/10 would definitely stay again. - Alison Argyle

Great hostel

Reviewed By Nathan M

I stayed in a mixed dorm of 6 which was very clean and modern, the bunks have their own curtain, safe inside the bunk and light so they are very private and quiet. The rooms also have lockers which are really big. The location of the hostel was great - close to both Dugommier and Daumesnil metro stations and you can get to most of the main tourist sites within 30 minutes and to Versailles in an hour or so, and Gare de Lyon is within walking distance. There’s also lots of shops and a laundrette nearby. The communal areas are quite nice and again modern, although the roof does close at 10pm. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that there is no sink in the toilet meaning you have to use the sink in the shower which is annoying if someone is in the shower. Overall I would say that the hostel was great value for money and I would definitely consider it if returning to Paris again.

Clean hostel

I found out I hate hostels, but for a hostel the Generator Paris was great. There is a metro station on the other side of the roundabout. The breakfast is not at convenient times at all, so I never got to use my free vouchers. Laundry and extra showers/toilets are available. There are two luggage locker rooms, but you can only buy 24 hours at a time and it's really expensive, especially if you get your bag out even an hour later. Roommates were respectful, but people were not out to make friends.

Good hostel for backpackers!!

Reviewed By georgiafbrown

Stayed here on an interrailing trip with my Fiancé. Really enjoyed our stay. There is a metro stop a couple of minutes down the road, despite the hostel not being central it didn’t matter. The room was spacious, bathrooms good and staff friendly, breakfast was okay and the food in the bar was lovely. Main issue was the window was either fully open or not and as it was on a balcony on the Main Street we didn’t want to sleep with it open to the public so it was very hot! Also kind of annoying having people come in late/talk in the hall but I guess it comes with the territory.

Nice rooms, bad showers

Reviewed By D7720LRgracem

Overall OK experience. In a great place close to everything and rooms were clean and comfortable. However, the showers were small and always dirty. There was a sort of yellow slime that lingered on the shower floor (I checked each one). This was unpleasant and really brings down my review. The bar was good with a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. I really enjoyed my trip but I don't think I will stay here again.

Perfect for a family stay in Paris

Reviewed By happylifesafari

While this accommodation is a hostel, it is a great place to stay for a family visit to Paris. The rooms were a great size and the beds are super comfy. The location is great to explore the Montmartre area. Plenty of places to eat and supermarkets are nearby as well as accessible public transport. The downside was we weren't met with a friendly welcome which doesn't give you much hope for the stay. Luckily this was the only issue. We found it frustrating that you have to wait for someone to be behind the desk to unlock the door for you to get out. I understand that this is for security reasons so no one can get in, but there should be a button for guests to be able to leave when they want. Also, while it was not a concern for us, there is no elevator so you need to be able to manage a lot of stairs.

Auberge de Jeunesse Hi Paris Yves Robert

Halle Pajol consists of a youth hostel, a public library, local activities and a public garden in three distinct but related entities. The hostel was fully completed in May 2013, and is a unique Parsian spot. Commissioned by the residents, the project Halle Pajol began in the early 2000s, following the decision of the city of Paris. In order to answer to the resident's requests, the city hall of Paris decided to build a cultural facility in a sustainable and ecofriendly way. It is in this spirit of innovative and efficient building that the hostel Yves Robert was born. The hostel is located in an environmental-friendly-neighborhood one of the best examples of sustainable development in Paris, between the Gare du Nord and Montmartre.

Eco Paris

Reviewed By 40hogpits

Staying at this hostel was a complete pleasure. So many ecologically sound details had been fully considered. Low water use, solar roof, beautiful trees and plant screening, reminders to use the stairs, timed showers and taps. All that consideration Ina very clean environment with very friendly and helpful staff . The simple breakfast was just right too. We had one noisy (from outside) Saturday night and then it was very quiet for our other two nights. The area is a little concerning at night so we took the metro until we were nearer then took a taxi to the door. It’s fine in the day time. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Paris now because this place puts the planet before money. It’s reasonably priced so accessible for families and those on modest incomes. I wish all hostels and hotels follow this model!! Jules aged 59
