10 Top-Rated Hostels hotel in Granada, Province of Granada, Andalucia

April 26, 2023 Moriah Teneyck

The Alhambra citadel of Granada is one of the most famous buildings in Spain: a Moorish fortress with grand archways and delicate ornamental mosaics. Step backwards in time as you wind through the ascending cobblestone streets of Albayzin. You’ll be rewarded with beautiful views from the Mirador San Nicolas. Granada’s nightlife is vibrant and varied, thanks in part to its student population. Hit the bars of Calle Elvira or, for a quieter outing, the traditional tea rooms of La Calle de Las Teterias.

Felt like a business not a hostel

Reviewed By Hisholden

The facilities themselves were clean and acceptable, however I was really disappointed with the service and the reception staff. From the moment I walked in there was no friendliness whatsoever, it felt very much like a hotel check in. It had arisen that there was an issue with my booking and I had been double charged. When approaching reception asking to be refunded for being overcharged, they put the blame on me and said that they don't offer refunds under any circumstances. Despite evidence that it clearly was impossible for me to have booked and paid separately for two different rooms at the exact same minute (as my booking confirmation showed), reception were very curt and refused to refund, be sympathetic or kind - which is what you would expect from a regular receptionist. At the end of the day, I was not that disappointed about losing the money from this encounter, but really disappointed that you could have an organisation which would be so unreasonable and inhospitable towards customers. I really felt like the hostel was only concerned with making money and could not care about the patrons.

Good value

Reviewed By Cathy E

I spent a week here in May while on a course. First night bed was awful but next day there was a new mattress in place. It's a great location, good value, staff are pleasant and helpful, rooms very clean . Downside is noisy at night - street is very narrow and bins are removed at night, rumbling over the cobbles at great length! I had a double room, fine for me but would be a bit cramped for two. However, you have the benefit of being in the centre and in a traditional old building.

An amazingly friendly and chill place. Full of lovely people and it is also in a great location, in a heart of Granada. Stuff is really nice and always willing to help. Trung is an especially interesting guy who is friendly to everyone and leads a pubcrawl during the weekend, showing his guests all the coolest places in the city. 10/10 recommend staying there and hanging out with Trung!

Pension San Joaquin

In the center of Granada, the historic district of San Justo y Pastor next to the Basilica of San Juan de Dios, near the Cathedral is the Pension San Joaquin. The hotel has two buildings, both are from the early XVIII century and one is a traditional, townhouse construction with three floors and a courtyard. The colonnaded courtyards, terrace, typical Andalusian floor tiles and ceramics are classic features of Granada architecture. This very central area has a vibrant nightlife and everything you could want at your doorstep from tapas to bars and shopping to tourist attractions. This Andalusian city offers many possibilities in summer in addition to the must see Alhambra and other historical monuments: there are nearby beaches (Motril, Salobrena, and Almunecar to name a few) and mountains for hiking, horseback riding, canyoning climbing.

The effect of Deja vu.

Reviewed By VadimM67

When I first entered this boarding house, I experienced the effect of Deja vu. I thought I had already lived here, even though it was our first visit to Granada. This is a patio in the center, a fountain, tiles similar to the Portuguese Azulejo, creaking stairs - all this I already saw in Seville a few years ago. As there, I chose the combination of price/proximity to the center. This option was the best. Everything else was not so important. Non-burning light bulbs, problems with W-Fi (although this is important). We don't come to Granada to stay in a hotel. It is only a place of sleep. And nothing more. In this sense, a good place.

Nice accommodation offering everything you need for a short stay in Granada for great price

Reviewed By Silence_CZ

The accommodation had everything we were looking for. The room - eventhough quite small and dark (ground floor facing tiny courtyard) - was cozy with enough storage space, had nice and clean bathroom with spacious shower, ideal for two night stay. But, as usual, there is almost no soundproofing when it comes to door. Our room was the first in the corridor from the reception so it was really noisy even during the night - earplugs are essential. Moreover eventhough the night temperature was pleasantly low outside, we had to use A/C continuously since it was not possible to get a fresh air from the little courtyard where our window was facing to. The air there was not moving at all and all the noisy outside A/C units were heating it up in addition. We wanted to stay in the city centre with parking possibility - this hostal provides both. Parking is not cheap but it is an underground parking lot in the traffic restricted area, so it is understandable. The location is great with 10 minutes walk to both Alhambra and Albacín and with so many nice bars and bistros packed with locals everywhere. Overall the hotel is more than reasonably priced, clean and is taken care of by a friendly staff.

The 5 Cs rule: Comfortable, Clean, Cheap, City Center

Reviewed By Denis N

We stayed for 2 nights in an en-suit double bedroom. We were looking for a good, comfortable, centered, clean & cheap accommodation. It is located in the city center, just 5/10 minutes walk from all the main city attractions (Cathedral, Plaza Nueva, Albayzin quarter, nice restaurants, etc.) and 25 mins (nice) walk to Alhambra. The landlady (Giusy) is very nice and available at our arrival and when something was needed. The room was what we were expecting, simple with a double bed with a TV, wi-fi, heating with a nice warm/comfortable temperature (it was a bit cool outside and we really enjoyed that! A/C also available) and most of all either the room and the bathroom were clean (we really appreciated that!). Last but not least, it is quiet & silent overnight for a good rest! Definitely we will consider for the next trip to Granada and we recommend it!! Remember though it is a simply guest house not a hotel!

A No-Frills, Clean Accommodation

Reviewed By HingLaw

The best with the Albergue are its no-nonsense layout, cleanliness, and helpful staff in a dorm-like setup. From what we saw, we may speculate the premise is under Andalusia public management catering to a wide variety of guests on top of the usual tourists. All around, facilities and services are adequate, well thought out, to the point, no-frills, and clean. Accommodation includes a buffet breakfast. Even hard pressed, we can't think of anything we didn't like. One consideration may be location wise, the albergue is about 10 minutes of walk from the Granada Railway Station while about half an hour on foot or 15 minutes by bus to city center where most of the activities are.
