Flam Marina & Apartments

A truly wonderful place to stay

Reviewed By Dena P

Comfortable apartment with a remarkable view from inside the apartment as well as from the private balcony. Full kitchen and numerous amenities. Owner is on site and responsive. I found the apartment to be a little slice of heaven. I take issue with an earlier review about the food—I had an excellent meal, including the option of a gluten-free pizza which I found to be delicious. For wine I had a glass of their house white which I enjoyed very much, as well as part of a bottle of Barbera, the rest of which a staff member promptly delivered to my room after dinner, in a manner following local laws. The setting is unrivaled, especially if there is rain on the roof of the dining room, as the sound is magical. While the path is not immediately obvious, the marina is easily accessed via a very short walk from the Flåm railway station, right along the waterfront. The view from the Flåm Apartments is far superior to the other properties in the small town. I find the earlier reviews with minor complaints to be outdated, as my room was fully equipped. I am a fairly discerning traveler who will be recommending this property to my friends who are looking to visit Norway—that is, until I have the opportunity to return myself.

This is not a star hotel. However it was worth for money. We had booked two rooms with small kitchen which was excellent. Don’t expect star hotel services here as there is only limited service. When we checked in we got fresh bed cover and towels in the room we have to lay them on bed ourselves. It was clean and good walk to the city Center attractions. Highly recommend for family with budget travellers.

Frogner House Apartments - Bygdoy Alle 53

The studio apartments have a mini kitchen with microwave, 2 hot plates, and a small fridge. There are a combined seating area and dining table, cable TV, Wi-Fi and a bathroom with shower. The 2 and 3 bedroom attic apartments have separate bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, some with a roof terrace. The apartments are well suited for short term rentals. Here you live in a venerable urban estate from 1912. The location is the heart of Frogner, in the middle of beautiful Bygdøy avenue. Close to bus and tram, 20 minutes walking distance to Skøyen. Central location and short distance to downtown. A good starting point for meetings and pleasures in the capital. Access to washer and dryer on each floor. Check-in machine on point. RESTAURANT BØLGEN & MOI GIMLE On the ground floor, you will find the energetic restaurant Bølgen & Moi Gimle with which we share the entrance. They are known for delicious food and great atmosphere, vibrant champagne brunches on Saturdays and family-oriented Sunday brunches with local food and a “eat as much as you want” buffet. The restaurant also serves breakfast from 7:00 am to 11:00 am Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 am on Saturdays. The restaurant is not part of Frogner House but we hope you visit them during your stay.

Excellent but I miss a good lobby.

This weekend we were housed in the most stylish suite in this building. It was 3 nights that I could use my imagination with this incredible scenario. Too bad I could not stay longer in Oslo and finally visit the Frogner church located 25 meters from the apartment in where, by my window, I could imagine Frogner residents from differents eras meeting each other in that church, as well as I imagine how the bars downstairs were the same meeting point in the previous years and for some reason doesn't happen quite like it. Everything comes to an end. The hallways were very similar to a selection of Polanski films. A sum of observations made me only confabulate in my remaining time how this apart hotel institution without building service really works. How do they clean, why don't we have contact with those responsible (besides the tlf.), etc.? Does this method really prevent problems? On my floor, the washing machine was showing signs of problems and on the corridor was soaked with water and soap. As we are in summer, I wore flip flops and I could feel the soap impregnating it. Shouldn't there be a comrade who sort of checked those blunders? The first floor reserves a fascinating sculpture plus 2 empty pubs. At night they close as if they were jewelry stores and the corridor to the apartments looks like the exit from a bank.

Nice resort

Reviewed By Mia A

This was a very nice resort! The staff were really nice and helpful. The apartment was big and roomy. The stay was rather expensive. The apartment was not clean. The showerdrain was full of hair and it was rather disgusting. The rest of the apartment seemed clean, but who knows how clean it actually was... The resort is little far from Geilo center so it was impossible for us to walk downtown with two small children.

Nice room with balcony in a somewhat "shady" area

Reviewed By Karesson

Booked a room for the weekend on the 7th floor with a a nice balcony (terrace). The room has a kitchenette with basic appliances and a small table. No sofa or lounger so there was no were to chill out in the evening but on the bed (the TV is in the kitchen). Good value for money. Grönland is somewhat of a shady area unfortunately. We didn't really feel safe at night seeing people dealing drugs... It's very central and convenient but Next time I'll choose another location.

The apartment I booked was "not available"

Reviewed By sonal0601

We booked the two bedroom apartment through booking.com. After dragging our suitcases over footpath and gravel for 15-20 minutes with two kids, we reached the place, all excited about staying in the beautiful white cottages we saw online. The reception was closed. A note was stuck with our name and room number on it. We walked to the alloted room, and found it was was smaller than we expected and had only one bedroom. I called up on the number provided on booking and was asked to wait for someone to come and check things out. A receptionist showed up after 30 minutes. And told us that the room given to us is a studio, because the two bedroom apartment we booked is not available!!!! Wow! She said she is clueless why this happened coz she isn't the one alloting rooms. We asked her to call up her manager. She did, and was told to give us a larger apartment at a different location. We were disappointed and skeptical about this new apartment. She did not even have any pics of this new place to show us. I requested her to get me a cab to this other place. She called up her manager and said "They don't want to walk". That sounded awfully rude to me. The manager showed up with his car in some time. Made some apologies and drove us in his car to the other apartment. Something positive after 2 hours of chaos. This other apartment was much larger for sure, but had only one bedroom and was somewhat run down. What finally lifted my mood was the beautiful view from the windows. Also there were some conveniences nearby like a coop and couple of restaurants. However, I am writing this review to let anyone looking forward to spending time in the white cottages amid hills and fields shown in the pictures know that you might be in for an unpleasant surprise.

Poor breakfast, nice building.

Reviewed By kartul

A very beautiful building in pleasant area, close to the tram, shops and restaurants. Easy walking distance to city centre and Vigeland Park. But they must improve the service. We had booked a superior studio with balcony, but we got a room in the bassement below street level. When we complained we got a nice room with two balconies. This room met our expectations, but this was only after complaining. Also breakfast is very poor. A plastic box with a miniature yoghurt and some ham and cheese. Bread is delivered to the door in the morning. I had ordered gluten free bread in advance, and got it the first morning. But the second morning this was completely forgotten. So I hope this beautiful hotel with nice rooms will be better run in the future. And avoid the basement.
