10 Top-Rated Campgrounds in Southern Norway

April 29, 2023 Cedrick Jardin

Called Sørlandet, Norway's South Coast is known for its rocky coastline, its whitewashed houses and its idyllic archipelago. This warmest area in the country draws many resdents for a summer holiday. Kristiansand, the biggest city here and fifth-largest in all of Norway, has many lovely beaches, a very good zoo (Norway's most visited attraction) and a number of historic buildings. These date from the period of the city's 17th-century founding and are located in Posebyen, the old town area.

Comfortable room in lovely location

Reviewed By KentishLass00

We stayed one night in the accommodation on the site (there are also lots of caravans, campervans, etc.). The whole site was lovely. This was a quiet time of year and we had lots of space to ourselves. The room was pleasant with twin beds. The reception staff were exceptionally cheerful and went out of their way to be helpful - fantastic customer service. The site is large with good facilities. We found access to a lovely small beach where we sat and enjoyed the late evening sunshine. Unfortunately there is a sandy area beside that which was covered by dog poo, which spoilt the atmosphere. Overall it is a lovely site, a peaceful haven from the bustle of Kristiansand.

Family friendly but worn and in need of an upgrade

Reviewed By Coastal52361793799

The facility is located 20 mins outside of Risør along a narrow road. Our cabin was a 3 room, which was pretty worn. The bathroom was probably from the 70s although well taken care of. All heating provided by wall mounted electric heaters in all rooms, the tiled floor in the living room felt pretty cold when the temperatures dropped in the afternoon. The outside of the cabin was not maintained properly, the terrace flooring had probably not been painted for some years and was both worn and started to rot. Weeds were growing in both the terrace and driveway. The outside of the cabin itself was also in need of a coat of paint. The kitchen had been upgraded recently and was nice, and the other facilities (pool, beach, restaurant) was also on the positive side, although you had to pay 60kr to use the pool even though we paid close to 2500kr per night for the cabin. This should have been free and felt cheap from the vacation centers side.

Tidsreise

Thanks for an exiting weekend with rafting. Great, safe and well-guided, experience for us beginners (15-52). Startet with instructions on land and calm water before 2 runs on the river. Wet suite/shoes kept most of autumn cold away. Consider bringing neopren gloves for padling. Trip ended with jump and swim in the calm water parts.

However the best is the atmosphere of relaxation which is adorable. It’s the kind of place you you didn’t know you missed before going there.

Wonderful little campside

We have been here three times now. We come back for its cosyness, the opportunity to do a nice evening stroll and the variaty of activities to do in the area. Very friendly host who gives great tips about what to do around the area. Showers are for free which we think is very nice. It is the perfect spot to start or end your journey to Norway as it is close to Kristiansand. I have to throw in a dutch word for this campside for it is a "gezellige" campside.

Gammelt og meget slidt

Reviewed By 316trineb

200 kr. for hund + 200 kr. i rengøring.
