Discovery Parks - Jindabyne

Did you know that Lake Jindabyne is half the size of Sydney Harbour? Discovery Parks - Jindabyne overlooks this gorgeous lake in the NSW Snowy Mountains, a year-round adventure destination. Thirty minutes from your caravan park and you’ve arrived in the alpine country ski slopes in winter. Summer’s the time for mountain biking, white-water rafting, horse-riding and bushwalking. Take a mountain drive to local wineries, restaurants and galleries. Explore Mount Kosciuszko National Park by foot, horseback, canoe, car, mountain or trail-bike. Marvel at the 440 million year old stalagmites and stalactites of Yarrangobilly Caves or take a dip in the thermal pool, constantly at 27 degrees.

Flooding and high lake levels causing issues

Reviewed By PJay2412

If you are going to book a cabin here I suggest you request one of the new modern versions. The older ones are really terrible; so bad in fact I think the reason for maintaining them in a fit state has passed. They must be due for the tip. Clearly preoccupied with their flooding issues and super high lake levels has meant they’ve lost the lawn mower and the whipper sniper. The general grounds just look crook. I’d wait a few months and give them a chance to sort out their problems because it could be a really lovely place to stay. It’s got potential. We’ve stayed before and loved it.

Disgusting customer service

Reviewed By LawrenceJWong

We orginally booked this place for 3 nights in winter 2021 to go on a snow trip. Due to the Covid lockdowns we were forced to cancel but management wouldn't give us a refund of any kind, we couldn't even get credit to use and try again the following year. So after many emails and calls the best they could do is push our booking forward. We ended up going on the 1st of January. No worries we turned our snow trip to a summer hike instead, while still having to pay peak season price (about double) for the accommodation. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by many many insects both dead and alive inside our cabin. Management later described this as having a "forest feel". I understand that we are in the forest and some of this is to be expected but shouldn't there still be some level of maintenance? We then spent a good hour cleaning the mould out of the fridge before we could unpack our groceries. Next we went to check out the bathroom facilities. The toilet wouldn't flush, shower was fine but there were opened soap bars left around from the previous guests. Again, where is the minimum level of maintenance?? To top it all off there was a leak in the roof right above where we were having dinner and when it rained it ran like a tap. We were told to evacuate the cabin after mentioning it was a safety issue since the leak was also landing onto the switch board. They moved us into more of a ski lodge which didn't have a kitchen or airconditioning and because it was summer, it was extra stuffy in there. At least it had working toilets i guess. Also even though they claim to have Wifi, it was non existent the entire time. Our complaints and concerns have been heard but have not been compensated in any shape or form. Our stay at Carinya Village was less than unpleasant to say the least.

3 day stay

Great little park. Lloyd very friendly and helpful. Amenities a little dated but very clean. Lloyd kindly supplies pegs, clothes detergent and sunscreen - the little things that make a stay enjoyable. Great historic town and worth the walk around. Unfortunately didn’t see any platypus but the river was flowing strong. Pub across the road with great meals. Would stay again.

Fantastic place to stay

Beautiful surroundings, very friendly staff, warm cabin with very comfortable bed, including electric blanket. What else could we ask for? Interesting hydro information with great cafe nearby to visit. Invigorating walk in the snow at the Kosciuszko National Park. And very friendly staff. We enjoyed the tourist park and area so much that we stayed 2 nights, after originally deciding to only stay 1 night

Lots of small extra touches

Reviewed By Bad_Seed4

We were a large group who booked two of the multiple properties available under this site name -we had The Barn which sleeps 12-15 and the adjoining Post Office which is another 4-6. We stayed three days and spent most of the time in the larger Barn apart from sleeping. This is really beautifully set out. The attention to detail is outstanding. The toiletries are lovely and there is a huge stack of towels which is great. There are some lovely food supplies given to start you off (spices, coffee, homemade biscuits, muesli etc) although we brought tons of our own food and the kitchen is really well equipped with everything you need. Beds are very comfortable The only couple of small points I would mention are the following. All the bedrooms in The Barn are loft style without walls so sound does travel. In a house full of people it means you do hear every noise that others make. When some people go to bed at 11pm and others at 1am and then some get up at 6am, it makes a difference. One bedroom overlooks the living and kitchen area so just take note. All the toilets are within the bathrooms so with 12 of us in the big house, in the morning, with all three showers being used, it meant that 9 people didn't have access to a loo until the shower people were done. And the bathroom closest to the big room has a shower with really noisy pipes. All minor points but this is a high end property with high end prices so worth noting. Having said that, it was a really lovely stay in a beautiful and well curated and well thought out place.

Beautiful location and great park

Reviewed By ppossim

We stayed here for 2 nights on a great site right beside the river, under the trees which were shedding their autumn leaves. Access was very easy, and toilets/showers appear to be fairly new and spotless. Short easy walk across the pedestrian bridge over the river to the main street and Services Club. Eating options in town very limited when we stayed (pub only open for meals 3 or 4 nights a week, and Club didn't offer meals ATM), but the supermarket suggested trying microwave McCains "Pub Size" meals which we did - a great find!
