Lodges de Malbrough

Our lodges are hidden from view in a woodland setting intended to help you to relax in privacy. Both lodges are built on stilts so that they are partly over the water and you can enjoy the sweetness of life which only comes when your feet dangle over a pool. The lodges are available throughout the year so that nature-lovers can take advantage of their enchanted setting at all seasons.

Perfect

This was the second time we stayed at Lodges de Malbrough and we have just booked a third. The reviews and pictures are all true - this really is a perfect holiday stay and great for relaxation in what i feel is an undiscovered part of Northern France. There is so much to experience in the area we overlooked the larger towns the first time round but visited St Omer and others this time. Favourite Ypres is a short hop away in Belgium, Lille for City life, and the Opal Coast, Le Tougeut and Boulogne sur la mer with Nausicaa a must visit in the other direction. We try and attend the L’andouille festival in Aire sur la lys each year. The accommodation is modern, comfy and spotless. It’s so well looked after and the wild grounds perfect for a little wander and holding fascination for young ones. Theme parks are not far away too. We have been so well looked after by both Stephanie and Marie with personal attention and care to make our stay so much more enjoyable we can’t wait to visit again. It really feels like ‘our’ place and to see the other reviews we are clearly not alone in falling in love with this destination. Merci, Mme Robin!

Don't bother

I am afraid this place was a big disappointment. It is a bit tatty. As far as I could see there are only 3 WCs, ancient and not particularly clean. Often no loo paper. No hot tap for washing your hands. Showers just awful and only cold water. We were given a pitch that was right beside a noisy road. We asked for another but were told that was all that was available. I felt a little unsafe as we saw many groups of young men rambling around who looked liked refugees/would be immigrants. We will not be back.

Lovely stay on quiet, family oriented caravan park

Reviewed By shaun c

We loved this small campsite which is a mix of static caravans & chalets. We were the only brits there this week & we were made to feel very welcome. The other guests were friendly, although not many speak a lot of English so brush up on your Francais! It has 2 pools which are very clean & well maintained, a fishing lake in the centre which is pleasant, playground for younger kids and a tennis court, table tennis & petanque courts and a bar which sells some food. The chalet we stayed in was clean, light & airy & has a decking area & brick barbeque outside. It has a car parking space also. Overall a very enjoyable holiday on a quiet, family oriented caravan park, we would definitely stay here again.

Nice Stay

Reviewed By Anouk v

The camping had spacious places for our tent, which was nice. The shower and toilet facilities were clean. Keep in mind that you need to buy coins at the reception to be able to have a hot shower. The ladies at the reception could only speak French but they tried to speak very clear and slow for us to understand. The camping is very close to the coast and beach which is nice because you can go for a quick swim! Only negative that I can think of is that during our stay there was a fair next to the camping which was very close to our tent and they obviously made a lot of noise.. However, this fair is only once per year and we just had bad luck that it was during our stay there.

I've seen better refugee camps

Reviewed By CAMPER-VAN56

Where do I start, as a pervious reviewer said it looks like a shanty town of old static caravans most of which look as though they are permanently occupied by owners. There was a bar that was never open, a multi purpose room but who knows what goes on behind those locked doors? A shop also rarely open and next to no stock on the shelves if it was. Half the shower blocks/toilets were closed, a lot of the camping pitches were little more than gravel, the electric hook up on our pitch didn't work meaning we had to run a cable over the hedge to an adjoining pitch, the water taps were hanging off the posts, the showers had lights on a timer meaning you had to shower in the dark in the luke warm water provided. if I hadn't been made to pay in advance I would driven away and not stayed in the first place!

Nice little campsite near the river with heated swimming pool. there is a bar with a snack you can eat local plates home made. The staff will be on place to help you for having the best stay. Every morning, frech bread is arriving at 8 AM. All the accomodations are confortable with, tv micro wave and Brabecue.

Very dirty and not prepared

Reviewed By AnnaKa2020

What was good: the owner was friendly. The rest was bad unfortunately, the whole place did not seem to be prepared for guests although it is officially open from March 1th. The sanitary unit was not even a bit cleaned, and it was cold as ice. In fact it was so cold and wet that even the toilet paper got wet over night! We were not offered a place to wash our dishes so we had to do it in the tiny one in the sanitary unit. The small village around the place was kind of desolate, for example there was a dead cat lying on the pavement and a red plastic chair floated in a small creek. We really cannot recommend this camping spot! :-(

Love this campsite with stunning beaches!

Reviewed By BackPacker615513

We had a great time, booked for 4 days & stayed for 6. Huge pitch for our motorhome. Very friendly & helpful owner. 2* so no toilet seat or paper but the facilities were always really clean. The beach is stunning 10 miles of golden sands for walking to Berck (for mussels & frites) and Le Touquet (very posh & good shopping) for an Indian meal! Great fun watching the sand yachting every afternoon! Stella Plage is quite small but a couple of popular restaurants, bakers & grocers. 20 minute cycle to the Intermarche supermarket. Had everything & wines from €2 to €400!! We bought a couple of reds for less than €3 and they were delicious! All the people in Stella were really friendly too! Wonderful place!

Don't expect the Hilton - cheap and cheerful

Reviewed By Vicster2dogs

We booked to stay here for 2 Nights in April, we regularly visit this area of France with our 3 Children and we booked here as the usually places we stay were either full or way too expensive, it was clean, tidy and well equipped, as previously stated we have done this before so we knew what to expect, we took our own Linen/Towels and pillows, plus cleaning stuff, We also have a European Kettle we take, as you rarely get supplied with one, and we take our own disposable BBQ's for cooking. The campsite was very quiet I was surprised how quiet as it was still August and weather was good, the site is very remote lots of houses nearby and a lovely bakery but that's pretty much it, carrefour and lidl are 5 mins drive away so make sure your well stocked up, We were out most of the days we were there so just used as base, the first night after we cooked dinner we walked to the onsite Bar but there was no one in there and because we are English weren't made to feel welcome at all so retired back to the mobile home, we also tried to use the swimming pool but they empossed so many rules/restrictions we decided not to bother - this is mainly French home owners that live here or have holiday homes, I think there are only 2/3 Homes they rent out, I can't say Id hurry back - next year we will pay the extra and go back to one of the better sites in the center of Berck or Le Touquet
