10 Top-Rated Campgrounds in Ohio

April 19, 2023 Misti Hsu

If you are looking for an active place to stay with world-class attractions, Ohio’s major cities can satisfy any vacation desire. Each offers its own distinct flavor of fun, from professional sports – Bengals (Cincinnati), Cavaliers (Cleveland) and Indians (Cleveland again) – to museums, outdoor activities and more. One of the most famous is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. If football is your thing, don’t miss the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. For the science-minded, visit the meat eaters at the Carnivore Conservation Center in the Wilds near Cambridge, dedicated to the breeding and scientific study of endangered mid-sized carnivores. Kids will also love Planet Snoopy in Sandusky or the Columbus Zoo’s Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Jack’s Landing rides.

Great first visit to Kings Island and Camp Cedar

Staff at Kings Island and Camp Cedar are some of the best I've ever experienced. Food at Belize Street and Ironwood are very good. Blueberry pancakes and pizza very good. Family pool is nice but only reaches a max depth of 3'6". As teens can't use adult pool your bigger kids may not enjoy the water experience but not a problem if Soak City at Kings Island is an alternative. The 8 person cabin was humid. For members who are light sleepers the loft is best as the bathroom was noisy. Overall the experience was great. I would do it again but bring my dehumidifier.

The cabins are stocked with everything you need for modern conveniences, yet feel completely isolated and quiet. So close to anything in hocking hills, or just relax and enjoy cooking out, the hot tub and fire pit at the cabin.

Incredible trip, unbelievable service

Not only was the property beautiful and the cabin thoughtfully designed, but the staff is incredible. When I dropped my two credit cards and my drivers license without knowing it (roller coaster-friendly hip bags are just awkward…), they tracked me down and left a note on the door to come get them at the desk. When I tested positive for covid on my second to last night and checked out early the next morning (abandoning our final night on the reservation), I found a credit for that night on my credit card. I had been too preoccupied to even ask about it and they never mentioned it, but they did the right thing. Thank you thank you thank you to the wonderful owners and staff at Lighthouse Point!

Smell: LIKE A WOOD BURNING STOVE -without the wood burning stove. Felt: LIKE HOME Looked : EVEN BETTER THAN THE PICTURES Taste: UMM, ILL SKIP THAT ONE - MY EXPERIENCE- Never needed bug spray. Seen a baby deer with the mother. Everything was clean and I have OCD. Complete privacy and quiet. Cable works- watched Roseanne while we cooked. Water didn't smell at all. Lots of bed pillows that are comfortable. Husband feed the fish in the pond with the fish food available. Lots of places to hang coats, purses, ect. It was a beautiful experience and appreciate the owners effort and care for their guests. Wish we could have stayed longer but everything was booked out and had to downgrade our last day at another cabin property- different owners, that felt the forest ghetto. - Cheyenne
