Chosen for its location we were not disappointed, once we had played the parking game in this picturesque fishing village turned tourist magnet. We arrived well ahead of schedule but our luggage was taken to our designated room with assurances that it would be ours within minutes and we saw one of the proprietors step in to speed the bedmaking. This simple, straightforward approach was reflected in the fresh white decoration and provision of good basic requirements for an overnight stay. Our room on the 1st floor had a balcony overlooking the port and daily bustle but was quiet enough to give us a good night's sleep in comfortable beds. The walk-in shower could be copied by many hotels that imagine they are superior. The sensible position of the wash basin, outside the toilet cabinet, was another practical solution to that often experienced morning ablutions delay. We have no hesitation in wishing this well led family a long and happy future while they offer such excellent accommodation by their hard work and attention to detail.

No, you cannot have breakfast before 8.30 am. No, you cannot have a parking, you have to walk 5 minutes. No, there is hardly any access to a beach nearby. No, tv channels do not include international programs except cnn and one German zdf. But the lobby and the rooms smell nice, room is spacious, location is in the middle of the old town, and for one or two nights this place is wonderful. Begur is a place for hikers, bikers, and Costa Brava fans...

Charming place

Reviewed By Tripadee

This is a gorgeous place on a hillside overlooking Cadaques. Believe Google maps when it brings you into town and round the roundabout to go out again – it seems counter intuitive but is correct. My heart sank thinking we’d have to get taxis back and forth to town but in fact there is a short cut by foot. Spread out buildings with a pool and sun terrace and lots of terraced planting. Great views over town and the bay. Run by lovely charming friendly family. The rooms are kind of chalet style. They are very simply appointed and quite small but very well done and comfortable. Very good breakfast freshly cooked and served to you. I would definitely stay here again if returning to this gorgeous town. Ask for a room that does not have a room above – the people above us returned at 4am and the noise of them walking around their room really travelled down.

Small hostel, good location

Small hostel in the center of Cadaqués. Friendly check-in. The rooms are rather small but well isolated (double windows). Small bathroom with a small shower and sink. Rooms have a very tiny balcony (you can't sit there). Tv, airco and good Wi-Fi. You receive a bottle of water when arriving. No breakfasts but there are a few places in the village where you can get one.

Hotel Hanoi

Hotel Hanoi's recent change of ownership and management has revived the original spirit of the hotel's former owners and founders. This eighteenth-century colonial-style building, located just a minute's walk from the heart of the medieval town of Begur, is an oasis of cosy, tastefully decorated rooms. The new owners strived to preserve the founders' original spirit to provide a charming, peaceful and private getaway. The Hanoi Hotel is a mere 10 minute walk from the Castle of Begur and 1.5 km from the stunning Sa Riera bay and beach. The Sa Tuna and Fornells coves are a less than 10 minute drive away and Girona airport and city can be reached in an hour.

Exceptional staff. Perfect location

Reviewed By Suzanneandsam

This is a great hotel with a lot of charm. The views of the town and distant mountains are lovely. The breakfast is very good, it’s quite simple but perfect start to the day. Great bread, lovely cheese and meat, tasty pastry’s. Extremely good orange juice and coffee. Fresh fruit. The breakfast staff are very lovely. Check in is at a different hotel but it was exceptional. Simone could not have been better. She gave us restaurant recommendations and every one was out of this world. Do ask her for advice as she knows Begur back to front and is a great resource for planning a perfect stay! The only niggle is that whilst you know it’s a period / character property I didn’t like the fact the shower and basin are in the room and not partitioned off. Not great for privacy, and there was a drains smell in the room.

Phenomenal place!

Reviewed By travelingCAgal

Our daughter was getting married at a castle nearby so our family & wedding party & several guests stayed here for four nights. The architecture and design of the hotel is very beautiful & gorgeous. The rooms are modern & unique; each room is different. In our room (#6) the stone work in the bathroom made it appear natural and rustic and the hidden lighting in the corners of the shower resembled sunlight pouring into the shower at sunrise. A door which swung both directions from the bathroom to bedroom looked like a marble monolith. We had a little patio that got sunshine in the late morning. We enjoyed sitting outside & drinking our coffee there. There is a lovely garden in back of the hotel with string lights and a bar where guests can sit & relax. Our morning breakfast was prepared by a chef who was courteous & attentive and served the typical Spanish fare of cold cuts, cheeses, croissants, breads, fruit, juices, coffee, etc. He also was the bartender at the outdoor bar in the evenings. There is a rooftop deck and pool with lovely views of the town. The hotel reception staff (Oleguer & Anna) were friendly and gracious hosts who were helpful with check in, activities & securing taxis, etc. They exuded the warmth of a bed and breakfast establishment. We also greatly appreciated the use of the professional grade steamer provided by the hotel which we used for the bridal gown & wedding party’s dresses & suits! After spending four days here it was very hard to leave. We absolutely LOVED staying here. We will always be grateful for Palau Macelli for making our family wedding experience and our stay so very memorable.

I AM NOT GONNA BE BACK AT SANTA CLARA'S HOTEL

Reviewed By annaportas

I leave with a lot of sadness and displeasure because one person of the team has shouted at me. The fact that I wanted to collaborate to help them when I saw them that busy, made Maitre's mind think that I wanted to steal, and he automatically treated me with screams, made me cry, and shouted at me in front of everyone, "Get out of my sight!" he said me infront of everybody when I told him speaking in a respectful tone (without raising my voice), that he owed me an apology. He lost the manners becoming very rude to me and non polite, and that's a really bad behaviour. I don't let my Dad shout to me. So can imagine a Hotel Maitre? = Horrible..., unsopportable. The owner, Clara, and most of the team are excellent people who have never spoken to me and / or treated me out loud. What I also found very bad is that I was charged the night I could not sleep because of them: Not having included the key to the front door of the building in my keychain of the tiny staff room 108. While Albert, who corresponds to the uncivilized Maitre who does not know how to control his genius working at the Hostal, does not realize what he has done and apologizes to me personally, they have just lost a noble and honest client. Also wish my money back from the night I was not able to get in the Hotel and had to be on the street feeling asleep until 6:30 a.m. I always go where I am treated well, I have confidence in it and I am not made to feel like a “thief” by Paranoia. A completely unfair, disproportionate and out of place treatment.
