10 Top-Rated Bed and Breakfast Inns in Arles, Bouches-du-Rhone, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur

April 25, 2023 Kandra Bartel

It's easy to understand why Vincent Van Gogh was so charmed by Arles, with its sun-kissed stone houses, cobbled squares, and Roman ruins. Set on the banks of the Rhône River, the city also harbors a robust contemporary arts scene.

The food was local and delicious, the wine was expertly chosen. We had such a wonderful trip. If you’re looking for a true French experience, Le Mad Saint-Florent is perfect. Vastly overpriced for what it is - and the concrete desolation that currently surrounds it

Reviewed By WMLES

This place is WAY OVERPRICED. The rooms are fine, crisp even, and the staff is trying, but this is a chain hotel run out of Paris, and there's no elevator, the lighting is poor, the dining facilities dark and depressing, and worst of all it was, in May 2022, literally blanketed with construction crews and apparatus. Noise deafening. Dust out of control. This desolation is unacceptable, and the rooms should be priced accordingly. Far better to stay more centrally in the old city, where travellers will get infinitely more bang for their buck. We had to check out after one day because of the din and gross ambience, and I can't say the front desk was particularly helpful on that.

Ok for a stop-over

At the entrance of the park, close to Arles. It is an okay place to stop for one night as it is very good priced. For longer stays it could get uncomfortable as rooms are very basic and small, at least the room we were in, it was two of us and we had to move one at a time. A bit run-down on the exterior and on the main road, but rooms facing the parking side are quiet enough for a good sleep.

Abismal service, dirty, far from everything

A terrible experience, mainly due to the shocking rudeness of the host. In reply to our polite demand to change rooms due to an insupportable odour in the bathroom, we were invited to leave the room, as 'people like you will be never satisfied'. Leaving asid the contempt of the host and thinly veiled racism against our non-frenchness, the property is well overrated. Pictures provided present a VERY favourable angle of the property, the rooms are small and with no sounproofing (you will wake up with your neighbour's bathroom action). Dubious smells (the property is annex to a horse farm) are everywhere, the rooms are mosquite-infested and no repelling device is provided. Furthermore, the property cannot be reached from Arles with public transport and it is around one hour on foot from the center on a busy provincial road. Beyond disappointment, we felt robbed.

Mixed feelings

Reviewed By Rob M

Based on the very positive reviews here we decided to stay here for two nights. The place is located in the middle of nowhere. We brought bikes and went to Arles two days, which is about a 30 minutes ride. The problem with the location is that there truly isn’t anything around, neither is the garden very appealing to sit in. The bedrooms have been nicely refurbished and are spacious. The windows have mosquito screens and the airco works well. A serious issue is that the bed is quite small and has metal end frames, so a person taller than 1.75 cannot sleep in properly it on its back. The breakfast is very good and extensive, although the room downstairs in which it is served is a bit grim; not an inviting place to hang around. The host is very friendly and keeps a good privacy distance. Unfortunately he does not speak English. With a better bed, I would have rated this place with 4 stars.

Le Mas Montredon

Our guest house is our Base Camp in Camargue, lovely and unique part of Provence, in the South of France. I am a moutain guide UIAGM and my wife is an illustrator. Le Mas Montredon is from the XVIth century and well refurbished, in the Regional Parc of Camargue, at 9km from Arles, where you can enjoy many cultural events all all the year long. We try to mix the spirit of adventure and the confort of a charming house and want to share with our guests our experience of travelling all over the world. In our Mas, we have a lot of souvenirs, pictures of our own, and we enjoy to chat about all of it. We organize stages to prepare everyone for adventure travelling, on a tailor-made way, and offer outdoor multi-activities stays (climbing, via ferrata, canyoning, trekking, horse riding...), lectures on adventure, team-buildings. Furthermore, our table d'hôtes propose some menus we got from our trips, healthy foodie, and we would be happy to invite you for a unique trip in Camargue.

Go for it and discoure Mas Montredon !

We recently stayed at this great B&B for the first time for a couple of nights .We found the location without much difficulté but it’s easier by day then by nighttime. It’s close to Arles and about 30 minutes from Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer,so you can easily reach all the main Camargues attractions. Our hosts Hervé and Isabelle were wonderful and greeted us warmly. We had chosen the Namchee room and were delighted with the design and furniture and overall comfort of both our room and the Inn overall which has 5 rooms . We would highly recommend the half-board plan since you will sample the host’s culinary specialties usually served with a light touch of discovery spices from Nepal. You can book a variety of ‘ à la carte ‘ side trips directly from the hosts either across the Camargues region or as far as the Mustang region in Nepal for something more exotic. Hervé is a qualified mountain guide with years of experience in setting up these tours. But ,if you are in the Provence area, we suggest you start with the Mas Montredon and then let your imagination take you to the next destination. Go for it !
