Arthur's Seat

Arthur's Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. Situated within Holyrood Park, as well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points. The park has several Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) designations due to its exceptional range of grassland habitats and its internationally important volcanic geology. Ranger service on site.

We climbed from Holyrood Park and to be honest, it’s quite a steep hike. There were a few places where a fear of heights will be prohibitive to travelers. Overall we enjoyed it, but the recent rain made for a slippy and slow trek up the mountain. We saw many hikers in trainers and flats—definitely wear shoes you can hike in.

Great way to spend an afternoon.
Went primarily for two things.
1. Charles Rennie Mackintosh exhibition, this was very good.
2. Crucifixion of Christ. This was on lone. Disappointing :-(
Nice café with great table service.
Good fun free day out. The CRM exhibition was £7 entry but that is a small price to pay for a great museum/gallery that is all free.
Highly recommend.

You must, must, must stop at Luskentyre when traveling on the west coast of Harris. The beach is breathtaking and I would consider one of the top Beaches I've ever visited. Now with that said I wouldn't call this a typical beach, i.e. bathing suites and beach towels, instead we went in late October and it was cold/windy, not ideal for swimming. This could be different during the summer months.
Despite it being cold the beach was simply amazing with great views. We spent a few hours here and I would have stayed the whole day if we had the time.

My husband and I went for a two hour experience with the Clydesdale horses, Lucky and Randolph. Beautiful, graceful creatures!
This was a present from my husband which was completely different and it exceeded all my expectations.
When we arrived at the farm we were greeted with a warm welcome from all the staff. We were then introduced to all the horses and the donkeys, supplying lots of carrots
We hadn’t been on horses for years and were quite nervous as the horses are huge!
Sonya and Beth were considerate and lovely to be around, nothing was too much bother, Lucky and Randolph were gracious and also patient with novice customers on their back.
We had a beautiful autumn day, did a bit of grooming first then went for a trek around the Wood road area, thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing.
Thank you to all at Blackstone for providing a truly memorable day for my husband and I, we won’t forget it and Sonya and Beth were kind enough to take pics along the way
If you are looking for a gift that is quite different, then visit Blackstone’s website, you won’t be disappointed.

We visited in the late spring with a group of Turkish Visitors. Late in the afternoon we were well recieved given the full tour and a tasting.
For most it was a memorable event and for those that it wasn't it was good but as they were the driver and guide we can see why they didn't enjoy it as much. Great products too, as most of the group commented on their purchases and a few bottles never left the UK.

I have seen Glen Coe a number of times and the best time, in my opinion, is when it is grey and wet. It gives it a foreboding and almost eerie feeling. The drive there from Stirling is picturesque and sets you up for what you see in Glen Coe. Worth taking the time to walk around and across the hills away from the road. Love it

I booked what is called a "Taster Session" where you spend just an hour with different birds. And what an amazing hour that was. Graeme is full of knowledge about the birds, and he was sharing it with us during that hour. Besides getting the information about each bird, we also had a hands-on experience handling them, and that was totally amazing. Too bad we had only an hour in our schedule that we could allocate for this experience. I think if you can book a day or half-day, you will not be disappointed.

Myself and my partner who has a keen interest in falconry went to the falconry display late September 2017. On this occasion we were the only two people there (luckily for us!) and this resulted in a great one to one experience for us. Paul showed great knowledge and passion for his birds of prey and was able to share his wealth of 40 years experience of his birds with us. Our favourite was Stanley the owl but all his birds were amazing and it was amazing to see the bond Phil has with them. Our was a truly interactive experience as we were very close up with the birds and were even able to have a few land on us. We will definitely return and would do a longer hawk walk/falconry experience next time to learn more about this wonderful pastime.
