Amazing place to visit for tourists and war historians alike. Kilometers of underground tunnels, living quarters as well combat positions. Due to recent EU grant all items on the basic route got extra information boards and were restored as they were during the war (at least those in living quarters). Various guided tours available (short, long as well as private ones)

Stalag Luft III Prisoner Camp Museum

After seeing the movie several thousand times, have always wanted to visit.
We had a private tour (with our knowledgeable travelling tour guide) as part of a battlefield tour with Leger holidays.
Well worth a visit and see for yourself what happened on the escape.
Do not expect to see buildings. These are remains or virtually non existent recognizable features. The famous tunnel 'Harry' location is now marked out by a line on the soil floor and you can follow the path of the tunnel and imagine what it would have been like.
The whole site tells the story of that escape. Make sure you visit Zagan railway station and the memorial to the 50 located not far from the rail station.
A must see for those interested in history,my only upset was I never met Steve McQueen.

Park Muzakowski

Reviewed By endrju_74 - Ipswich, United Kingdom

Park Mużakowski/Muskauer Park spreads over both sides of Polish/German border river Nysa Łużycka/Lausitzer Neiße. The whole park consists of around 728 ha of which 522 belongs to Poland (Germans got all of the buildings such as palaces and Castles instead). This massive park, some say it's the biggest of it's kind in Europe, stood forgoten for decades. Situation changed in the nineties, when Polish state run heritage institute took over the area. With great expence the park is comming back from pretty much non-existance to it's days of glory. All forest alleys have been restored, view points cleared from trees. There's still a lot to do, but it's already one of the best places for relaxation, meditation and muse I've ever been. The main entry to the park is on Hutnicza street (free car park on the corner of Wybrzeżna street), where mentioned heritage institute runs a kiosk with all information about the Park Mużakowski you will ever need, with maps and all sorts of books on sale. There's a big choice of walks - man in the kiosk will help you choose best one for you, there's also a chance to borrow a bicycle (in the hotel nearby), but their numbers are small and you need to be in early to get one for yourself. Inscribed on UNESCO list.

Woodstock

Visiting Woodstock for the first time in life I can only say great things about it! Top notch organisation, amazing event, food stalls, Krishna Village, Art Stage, Movie Theatre, Main And Side Stages, tenting facilities - everything wonderfully equipped, all in a peaceful, lovely aura where friendship and violence free spirit rules! Never expected such relaxed atmosphere, feeling of absolute safety - was properly astonished! International guests - The Molotov from Mexico and The Hives from Sweden were just a cherry on a top of the cake made out of good old polish punk scene...Was very happy to be able to participate in such a big event with a free entry (yes wow - festival for free!) and would gladly come back again! Thank you, Woodstock people for this top experience!

Amazing Baroque church and Gardens. Set on a hill overlooking the Oder River. Recommissioned Gardens. Inside is an amazing Baroque church. Stunning in the ornate. Outside is yellow and white. There is the monastery church and in the same complex the non-ornate reform church. Attached is a the Kloster brewery. Inside the complex you can also find a small restaurant with superb liquors. Great little gift shop. 1.5 hours drive from Berlin.

Plastinarium

Reviewed By Sebastian_Tapu - Bucuresti

Been to Plastinarium for the first time and we were absolutely stunned by the work of Gunther von HAGENS. The thin line between anatomy and art seems to disappear here. Still, if you go you have to keep in mind that these are human bodies, one can find this too much. You can even visit the dissection room where you can take a close look and ask questions to the anatomists working there.
There is a small entrance fee and photos are allowed free of charge, as long as you take them for private use.
The only negative point is the lack of English text on some of the pieces descriptions, where only German and Polish are available.
To get there, from Berlin central station (Hauptbahnhof) take the train for Guben, a little town on the border with Poland. When you get there, walk through the park across the train station and you will see the museum entrance. There are signs inside the train station as well.
To visit the entire place you need about 2,5 hours. Trains from and to Berlin run every one hour or so even on Sundays.

We really enjoyed the water park. It is reasonably priced and very clean. Our son loved the water slides and kid area. Remember that they don't allow board shorts. But if you don't have a swim suite you can purchase one at the sports shop there and the swimming suites are priced ok.

We spent about an hour driving from Pila to Dobiegniew to visit the Palac Mierzecin, which dates back to the Middle Ages. It has served several functions over the years - private residence, orphanage, government offices - and it is now a beautiful hotel and spa. We toured the grounds and the buildings and had a delightful dinner in the restaurant. We enjoyed our visit.
