Reviewed By Henry770The small modern bedrooms are very well equipped with modern fittings, an excellent shower and plenty of hot water, warm towels and a good practical lay-out. The rooms are in very close proximity to both the car parking and the restaurant, the latter has a spectacular view over the Charente countryside and the service is excellent and attentive. Non-French speakers will find plenty of explanations available in English from the staff. The food is spectacular, original, beautifully presented and extremely well cooked. The flavours of the dishes we chose could not be bettered - Lotte Rotie and Carre d'Agneau, each enhanced with out of the ordinary sauces - the lamb dish heightened with grindings of a special pepper.

Reviewed By nicolettet617The camping is a beautiful and well organized place to spend your vacation! The staff is very helpful and friendly! We had a wonderful stay! The location on the island, close to la Flotte makes it a very good start for road-tripping on bike or even for walking.

Lovely Little Hotel
Reviewed By Getaway802944Situated just outside the old town - set back from the road a couple of doors down from Lidl - this is a lovely small hotel (3/4 rooms). Christian and Agnes make you very welcome - they gave us some good recommendations of places to eat. It is immaculately clean and beautifully decorated with large bathrooms and big comfy beds. There is a small enclosed garden with a decent sized (warm) pool. Breakfast - omelette, croissants, fresh fruit with yoghurt, bread and jam, fresh fruit juice and tea or coffee. We were able to securely store our bikes under cover and there's a free car park. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By Adriana AI spent 4 days at La Madeleine and I really love it! Me and my boyfriend did ride from Barcelona to La Rochelle and it was a great trip. Alyette, the owner, she was really kind and she made us feel like we were at home. Nice ambient, beautiful surroundings and I just love the garten, so much space and fresh air, and the room was really clean and all set up with love and care. Breakfast really good, with local bread, fresh and homemade marmalade .... and... I could taste a bit of the flavours of local cheeses, really delicious. And the best, you can (it's near bay) go for a walk or run on the beach. Really nice location, I can't wait to come back this summer. And if you are adventurous person, perhaps Alyette can recommend you a small trip on the boat...I would recommend this place, really satisfied with service, quality and price. Thanks a lot. Merci

Reviewed By David SWe only stayed one night, but Le Charhido made a big impression on us. The warmth of the welcome, a spotless bedroom and bathroom both well furnished. The size of the bedroom which included a sofa made it a comfortable place to sit and read, though there was also a lounge for guests. On arrival we were invited to join the hosts for a drink and chat. Breakfast was splendid, with their own eggs offered in many styles. We arrived at dusk, but in the morning we saw fields and vines and heard nothing. A very peaceful location. There was also an outdoor swimming pool for summer visitors.

Great place, great yurt, great host
Reviewed By Antoine LWe are come to sleep in these yurts for one night, on the travel for our holidays. The hosts are very sympathics, the yurts are clean, like the private bathroom. The breakfast is nice. The yurt is placed near of a field at several km from Cognac. It's a good place for visit Cognac and all around.

Reviewed By aubellefleurWe live in the Charente since 2007 and spent regularly a weekend at the lovely coast of the Atlantique Ocean. We have chosen Royan again because it's lively and not yet too crowded in June before tourists are coming. The hotel is just what we expected and therefore there were no unpleasant surprises. The complimentary drink, which hotels hardly do, was very welcomed by us. Also we have enjoyed our breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Beds were good and bathroom as well with airco!
