10 Resorts in Key West: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 20, 2023 Etsuko Causey

Does time ever pass in the Florida Keys? Everyone and everything in Key West seems to go at its own pace, right down to the ice melting slooooowly in your margarita glass. Of course, it’s not all limes and leisure – Key West is known as the “Winter White House” because of its appeal to visiting U.S. presidents, and the island has been home to literary greats like Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams. The diving here is phenomenal, as is the kid-friendly Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center.

Oceans Edge Resort & Marina Key West

Oceans Edge Resort & Marina Key West is the newest Florida Keys hotel, and the largest in Key West. Featuring 100% ocean views, six amazing pools and the best restaurant in Key West, you have everything here to enjoy an exhilarating Key West escape. There's immediate dockside access to the Gulf and the Atlantic's innumerable wild islands, channels, sand bars, wildlife, and, minutes away, the world's third largest barrier reef. Oceans Edge Key West is family built, run and operated-we are locals with a passion for conserving this beautiful island, and with a vision for creating a bigger, better, more authentic slice of paradise! As you enter Oceans Edge Key West, our dense, tropical flora will enchant you. Overlapping palm fronds cast patterns of dappled light all around. The scent of coconuts, key limes and orchids fill the air. Within, the world seems to fall away. Behind green leaves stands a white, wood facade. Our all-new resort was built with signature Key West conch architecture that combines Caribbean and Victorian influences, complete with gingerbread moldings and large porches-done right. Step into every spacious room or suite and the first thing you'll see is a view to die for. When you can tear away your gaze, you'll also find a king/queen bed like a cloud, and thoughtful décor that speaks to the island's nautical history and local artistry. Right outside your balcony, six turquoise pools twinkle in the Caribbean sun. You'll always find room poolside-just one of the pleasures in our well-appointed resort! Beyond the pools lies a newly renovated marina, where majestic boats sit calmly in glassy waters. We're proud to be the premier boating destination in the United States. After the marina comes the deepest layer of all: a great shimmering ocean stretching to the horizon and beyond. Located in the town's water-centric Stock Island neighborhood, Oceans Edge Key West boasts acres of deep-water access, an onsite marina, onsite access to fishing charters and six oceanfront pools. We are your key to a luxurious seaside escape. And when you dry off, explore the Stock Island part of town, which The New York Times calls "the new old Key West." There's an authentic Keys vibe to the neighborhood, home to local fishermen, the Key West Symphony Orchestra, Tennessee Williams Theatre, artist studios, a golf course, and outstanding bars and restaurants. And it's just minutes to Key West's historic Old Town, offering easy access to the vibrant culture that has been drawing guests for decades.

Sandi Wensel is a gem. Gorgeous property

Reviewed By billsL2234HK

I want to commend Sandy Wenzel. She is an amazing front desk representative of oceans edge. The resort is beautiful. I highly recommend it. If you don’t want to be smashed in the bar scene in Key West. Having a car really is a good idea. The suites are gorgeous. The Keylime coladas are to die for. The best in the world. You’ve probably read that the planes are extremely noisy overhead. And that is very true. I don’t know how you can get around that. Because you can’t move the resort or the planes. If you want to have a relaxing hotel. With good customer service, as Sandy did for us, give it a try. Especially in the summer when the rates will be less.

And the rooms are clean and spacious. I think the best part is the care and continuity of staff. They remember and welcome us back every time! And they really go out of their way to make sure the stay is enjoyable and memorable.

Friendly staff and great pool!

Reviewed By Sooz678

We had a room on the first floor with a pool view. Our flight arrived early so we had several hours before our room was ready at 4 p.m. which is the check in time. Probably a staffing issue I assume. The hotel staff were very accommodating. Full housekeeping was not available, however, they responded quickly for extra towels and kept in touch daily via text regarding any concerns. The breakfast buffet was a savings and had variety hot and cold offerings--waffles available every day and rotating egg and breakfast meats. The shuttle only drops off at the Waterfront Brewery downtown, so if walking is an issue, you should consider taking a "pink" cab which is less expensive than Uber. We had to spend more on transportation than we planned. The taxis aren't as new, but the drivers are friendly and offered lots of local tips. Bicycles are also available for rent at the hotel. We loved the pool and bar. It was kept so clean and was open until 10 p.m. which was relaxing after a hot day. It was nice being away from the downtown crowd if you don't mind taking the shuttle or other transportation. The bartenders were great! We enjoyed two free drinks a day from a select list. Good lunch offerings--most $11-15 range. The hotel also had free HBO if you aren't a late night person. We were very happy with our stay.

Wonderful pool, drinks and food

Reviewed By susanmY5536OS

We chose this hotel through a package with airline. We were worried about airport noise, but it was NOT an issue at all (our room faced away from airport). The hotel is a little dated/patched up, but it was clean and our room was very spacious, with a nice balcony facing entrance. The staff was always very helpful and friendly. We took advantage of the free shuttle to town on the hour every day. The pool was lovely and not crowded at all. Wait staff always ready to bring you a cold drink. The lizards hanging out in pool area were very cool! We had a Cuban sandwich at pool bar, which was delicious (and large). I think we got a great deal with airfare/hotel package and would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
