Lovely property convenient to Acadia

Reviewed By robandjesss

We very much enjoyed our stay here! The property is beautifully maintained with a playground and cute lake, and our kids enjoyed the paddle boat and watching the mama and baby ducks. The cabins were stocked with everything we needed, and we enjoyed the fresh air on the screened porch. The property is convenient to Acadia and Bar Harbor (~10-15 min drive down the road) and the mainland. The only downside was a bit of noise from the road. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay again!

Seawall Motel

The Seawall Motel is located on the quietside of Mount Desert Island in the Southwest Harbor area. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Motel borders the Seawall entrance to Acadia National Park. It adjoins a pine forest and a fresh water pond which provides ample opportunities for birdwatching and scenic photography. The Seawall is a naturally occurring granite, loose boulder and rock seawall with easy shore walks and tide pools to explore. There is a picnic area to watch the waves crash on the rugged shoreline and a spot to watch the sunrise over the Great Cranberry Island. On a clear night, it is one of the best places in the country for stargazing. Just beyond the scenic areas, you'll approach two of the many walking trails of Acadia National Park: Ship Harbor and Wonderland. Each is less than a two-mile hike along the ocean and nature trails. A short drive from these trails is the Bass Harbor Lighthouse that has been guiding mariners with its light since 1858. The dramatic setting, especially at sunset, is a photographer's dream. The Seawall Motel sits directly across from the famed seawall and close proximity to many activities of what the park has to offer. It is a two-story Motel with free Wi-Fi, in-room phones, cable TV and complimentary continental breakfast. These budget-friendly motels has twenty spacious, comfortable, and exquisitely clean rooms with a choice of two-queens or king size beds. A community room is available for all guests to use which includes the vending and ice machine, refrigerator, microwave, and coin-operated laundry machines. The free Island Explorer Shuttle can be accessed from our parking lot for easy travel to restaurants and shops in downtown Southwest Harbor, and to many other locations on the island. Top-rated in TripAdvisor, the Seawall Motel is the perfect place for your Maine vacation! Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the wonderful staff, and freshly brewed coffee ready for you every morning!

If you want a place away from the hustle and bustle of life this is the place for you . Right across the street from the Seawall in Southwest Harbor . Clean accommodations- not fancy more like aVintage motel from the 60’s. You can drive or take the shuttle bus to Bar Harbor . Plenty of trails nearby with ocean views as the motel is adjacent to part of Acadia National Park . Bass Harbor Light is just down the road . Don’t over look this gem when considering your stay on MDI. You won’t be disappointed!

Nice Local Motor Inn

Reviewed By eigenstien

Decent location right on Route One, but didn’t have to listen to traffic as we were placed in the rear of the building. Room was clean, with microwave and fridge. Bathroom was very clean, good water pressure in the shower (you never know in Maine) and the towels were soft and fluffy (yay!). Obviously a local place, with no overnight staffing, so don’t come after 9 PM expecting the office to be open. Fee for our dog was only $20, and there was a nice area to walk her out back. Given how few the options are in Bucksport, this was a welcome surprise.

Noisy all night long

Reviewed By Bnizzle76

The cottages are clean and in a great location 5-10mins from Bar Harbor and Acadia…but, our cottage, basically sat right on HWY 3. It was so loud all night long. Unfortunately, I would not stay in this cabin again, maybe the others are quieter. Also, even though days before our stay- I made several attempts via phone and email to confirm our checkin time, there was no response until the day of checkin. On the website it says until 8:30pm, but the day we checked in, the office closed @ 7:00pm. It was disconcerting to not know if we’d be able to checkin…

Small Town Gem

My husband and I did a detour on our vacation and spent 2 nights here, May 13/14, 2022. We were greeted pleasantly and with great kindness by Patty at the front concierge desk! From the moment we walked in and every time we walked through the lobby. What a wonderful lady! Once we checked in quickly and easily, we went up to our room on the top floor, river view. The room was exceptionally clean, and quite large! The bed was nice, comfy and big. TV worked, remote worked. We had a fridge and a microwave. All in clean working order. The windows are big AND they open for beautiful overnight breezes! The second day was quite hot so we turned on the AC. Worked great! The hotel is older. The walls are thinner than most. But it all added to its charm. We had a wonderful stay at Fort Knox Park Inn. A few local restaurants and an ice cream shop. The river walk was really nice (except for those pesky mosquitos - bring bug spray). The view of the bridge was pretty. Highly Highly Recommend and I hope the day comes where we can return and stay longer!

A pleasant stay with personal touches

Reviewed By 4SeasonsNorth

As many others have noted this is a clean and comfortable motel, on the far end of town but still very well-located to access (by car or bike) Machias' features (don't miss Bad Little Falls at the other end of town, or, a mile from the inn you can access a very pretty part of the Sunrise Trail and Helen's Restaurant). Moderately sized, comfortable room with all the modern motel amenities. With staffing shortages everywhere, they provided self check-in and made it easy to reach a responsive staffmember by phone if needed. Even with some setback it's closer to busy Route 1 than we anticipated, but not noisy in the room.
