Reviewed By chch00007Very friendly, very helpful and kind reception staff. Beautiful location with views across the harbour. The room was small but quite nice, the bed wasn’t all that comfortable. The only real gripe - our room was pretty much above the sea front pub that is open all day and closes around 11PM - it wasn’t possible to have the balcony doors open to fully enjoy the experience without having to endure the loud reveling of the many drinkers. We’d stay again but would insist on another room and would limit the stay to a maximum of 2 nights.

Poor value, poor service
Reviewed By Brent CWe stayed in an interior room at el Puerto for 3 nights in November 2019. The room was claustrophobic because it was so small and had no windows nor any ventilation. We had no hot water one day, were woken in the early morning repeatedly by partying guests who were not controlled by the staff member who was there and even had a drunken woman come into our room. We were charged 89 euros for two of the nights because there was an event in the city and the owner felt he could get this amount. He was charging us 40 euros more than the Booking.com rate. Under no circumstances is this pension worth that much. We waited until checkout to see the owner so we could discuss our concerns but no one arrived. We then wrote to the owner and received no response, hence this review. Do not stay here.

A great idea
Reviewed By inversetravellerIt was my wife's idea to stay at Sagarlore from friday to sunday with our daughter and we also had breakfast included. It turned out to be a fantastic idea. The hotel and the surrounding area are beautiful. Lide, staff member, was really nice and helpful. I believe the whole breakfast was made from locally sourced products. It was very tasty and we actually ended up full each morning. It was, without a doubt a great idea to spend some time there. There is also a Sidreria closeby (walking distance) where you can have traditional food. We will definitely be back for more.

Delightful Stay
Reviewed By Tour811959We were travelling back from Southern Spain to the UK and found this wonderful Hotel near the Irun Border. It is absolutely wonderful, quite the high light of our tip. So convenient for the motorway but off the beaten track and seemingly miles away from the stress and hassle of everyday life. The food was amazing , prepared by Ane, the chef and owner. The views from the room were so tranquil it was such a shame that we only had one night here. It exudes love and care which is the ethos of the owners. I truly wonderful hidden gem.

Reviewed By FourtykeWe stayed here for one night and I think it is important to give a balanced review: Pros Working cider farm Tour of cider making given and a taste of the cider provided Rural location Close to San Sebastian Large room Cons The place is in need of some TLC some parts look dilapidated Some renovation work is taking place and tools left out, mess not cleaned up No restaurant so you have to travel into San Sebastian for dinner Expensive given the lack of amenities and state of the place I would not stay here again, given the proximity to San Sebastian pay the extra and stay in resort

Reviewed By Greyman24We stayed here as our first night for walking the Camino. The owner was very welcoming even cooking us dinner at the last moment when we realised there was nowhere nearby. Spotlessly clean, free tea/coffee with a beautiful balcony. Good breakfast too. Recommended

Hillside haven
Reviewed By Amy TA lovely place with oodles of character tucked away in the hills outside of Deba, nearer Itziar. It might be a little old-fashioned for some but we loved it. You need a car to get here. A warm welcome. Comfortable, cool rooms. Even without AC the stone walls provided a cool haven from the 40 degree heat we had at the time of visiting. Lovely outside seating spots with a few to the sea. Very peaceful, just the sound of farm animals but thankfully no cockerel. Close to a wonderful geopark area and would be a great spot for hikers. Breakfast provided at a supplement of 5 euros if needed, homemade jams full of flavour, pastries, fruit cheese and meat. Good coffee too. Otherwise use of the kitchen available and good size fridge storage. If you want to get away from it all or want a spot for hiking the north coastal paths in the area, this is a great choice.
