The Lodge at Chalk Hill

Basic.

Reviewed By Nancy M

Sign on highway stating new renovation and a vacancy. We had left Falling Waters and a Snowstorm was starting. This is a very basic hotel, but was clean. Door didn't work well. View was beautiful. It needs some work, but heater worked, bathroom was clean. We had hot water and bed was comfortable. Price definitely good. No breakfast.

Melody Motor Lodge

Okay for a night

Reviewed By denisebaker176

We were passing through and needed an inexpensive room for one night so we pulled in, as it looked okay on the outside. The room was very clean, which was the most important thing. However, a little TLC would make it much more inviting. The curtains were kind of hanging sadly from the windows, and the towels, although clean, were bleach-stained. It was chilly when we walked in and there is no heat that you can regulate yourself. We walked over to the office and the very nice lady told us that there is central heat and air. But she very promptly brought us an electric heater so we could warm the room quickly. Once the room warmed up, the central system kept the room comfortably warm and we didn’t need the space heater any more. The bed was very comfortable. There is a diner directly behind the motel that opens at 5:45 am and closes at 3:00 pm. If you just need a bed for the night and no amenities ( hair dryer/coffee maker) the place will do.

Go to the office and complain! She doesn’t care. She goes off at 7 and will lie to you for hours about why you can’t connect! She has absolutely no personality and doesn’t give a damn about her job!! I work for a television company that stayed at the Lodge for a week in June while we filmed a special in the area and we had the best time! Our crew is about 20 people which they were able to accommodate at a weeks notice with no issues. The rooms are in the process of being renovated so all of us received the renovated rooms, clean new bathrooms and Roku tvs! We were able to use the beautiful ballroom to shoot our interview portions with no issues or interruptions (unheard of in the TV biz). Anything we needed was worked out for us. Our days ended up being so long that it was too late to go anywhere other than the Lodge Restaurant/Bar for dinner. The menu was big enough that nobody was tired of eating there, the food was better than expected each night and the service was even better! On our last night, there was live music and he was great! He played all of our requests and kept the party going with hit after hit...very talented! Lastly, Michelle, the manager was the best! She made our stay so easy and special after long, stressful days of shooting this television special. Couldn't recommend this place enough..don't judge a book by its cover!

A family-owned and operated lodging destination for over 40 years. Just minutes from historic Jim Thorpe, attractions, tours, concerts, shops and galleries. On-site restaurant and cocktail bar, Macaluso's Restaurant. 2 double beds per room. Private bath. Cable TV / AC. Rates start at just $65 per night.

VERY basic....few amenities....noisy location

The room was clean, however, it was small, few amenities - no safe, no coffee maker, no ironing board, no microwave, and the beds were very uncomfortable (very hard). The traffic that goes by the "lodge" is very noisy....needed earplugs. The attached restaurant "Macalusos" is excellent though.

Relaxing getaway

The Wilds, room 7, at Bear Meadows Lodge was a beautiful place to celebrate our anniversary. Wonderful views, quiet, and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the thoughtful touches to welcome us from the moment we walked in. Soft music playing, warm lighting, a thoughtful chalkboard message for us and rose, and delicious snacks each day. The room was charming and taking in the views on the back deck from the hot tub was a perfect way to end the day.

Great getaway

Reviewed By trinigyal78

My boyfriend and I spent Labor Day weekend running around Potter and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Kettle Creek Adventures Lodge and B&B was a great place to have as our base. Dave and Brenda were very warm and welcoming and good sources of knowledge about things to do in the area. As we stayed in the B&B, they prepared us a hearty, delicious breakfast every morning of our stay and joined us as we ate, which I enjoyed very much. Dave's homemade fruit preserves were delicious! Our room was comfortable and cozy and we had a lovely preview of the stars we would see eventually at the Cherry Springs State Park. Dave and Brenda created a relaxing environment that invited us to forget the pressures of our workaday lives and get to know others and reconnect with nature. Perfect place to decompress!
