New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

The Showboat Motel

The only Hotel, Restaurant & Bar literally on and over the top of the water on all of Seneca Lake. This is a seasonal business and open at least April through October, However since we're under new ownership were looking to open starting sometime around the last week in March through the end of November weather permitting.

Amazing Hands on Owner & Staff

Reviewed By Robin B

It started out a little rocky as they were recovering from a flood and had no elevator to accomodate us with the new disability I aquired. Quickly put a room together on the ground floor so we hung out at the bar/restaurant so they could fix it enough to be comfortable. They were quite fast actually Seating area for the restaurant/bar is a huge deck partly over the water which allowed a terrific breeze. Slightly over priced but it was a race event weekend so it wasn't more than expected. Biggest amazement was that there was no smell in the room. With the recent water damage I expected to smell mold at least. Quality local bands every night and $5 drinks. Diner leve;food but not too bad and reasonably priced. Avoid the coffee. Blech. If I am still able in spring I will go again just for the hotel! As a frequent traveler for years I'm happy to give them lots of unslocitited advie :)

Amazing place to stay and eat

We just stayed at the long view lodge. This will be our two year staying there. It's our snowmobile trip. We didn't get in till around 8:30 pm. The minute we walked in, the owners greeted us with open arms. They made sure the kitchen was aware we were there. Because they closed at 9:00, they never rushed us. We CAN NOT EXPRESS how excellent the food is. By far probably the best food we all have had in a long time. Top-notch for sure. When we got done eating, they made a fire in the other room to sit around and relax! If you have not stayed there or eaten there, you need to take the time to go! I promise you will not be disappointed. Thank you again for making our stay so welcoming.

Clean and convenient

Reviewed By Footprints401515

Room is clean and functional. The beds are full size (not queen), the AC is noisy, and the thermostat has a VERY bright light. But, the beds were comfortable, the TV worked, and there IS air conditioning! The checkin-checkout is unlike any motel I have used (the is no one in the office.. you call if you need something, otherwise completely self service). Worked out just fine! Would definitely stay here again when I am in the area.

Wonderful Find in the Catskills

We stayed at the Blue Hill Lodge on a Saturday night after long day of hiking. Our room was clean, quiet, and had very comfortable beds made with fresh linens that smelled wonderful. We ate dinner at the Russian Mule Brewing Company, conveniently located just steps from the Lodge. There were many delicious sandwiches and burgers to choose from as well as several brews on tap. You may even choose a tap beer to go and have it pressed into a can on the spot! Savannah, the Business Manager, was very friendly and most accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Blue Hill Lodge again!

Tug Hill Resort

Four days of BLISS!!!!

Reviewed By tt01201

I stayed at Tug Hill Resort January 13Th - 16TH 2022 with a childhood buddy of mine to do some snowmobiling. This place was HEAVEN. There is nothing bad I could say. The Hotel owners Joe & Natasha went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. They have a kitchen that guests can go in and cook. They keep free juices, bread, coffee, snacks, and a very well stocked frig. They don't ask for money but will accept any tips. I highly suggest leaving a little so this tradition can continue for future guests. The snowmobiles they rent there are brand new. I rented a Ski-doo 850 that was amazing. No regulator for speed and ran like it just left the factory floor. The rates are great for new snowmobiles. We booked another weekend with 2 rooms to bring more friends to experience this great place. We would have booked three rooms, but they are fully booked. Finally, the snowmobile trail system is right outside your front door and beautifully groomed. TRULY tremendous property, owners, and location!

Wouldn't pay for this hotel room .

This hotel was apparently remodeled recently. It appears on the surface it is very well kept up however, it is very easily found to be lacking. I checked in here for a week stay and as soon as I walked in the room I found a 2-foot long hair on the bed along with other hairs on both beds. I nicely left a note for the housekeeping to change all sheets. When I got back in the afternoon the subtle marks the sheets that I left we're still there. I spoke to the manager on duty and got clean sheets from him and changed it myself. Which the clean sheets had hairs on them as well. Fast forward a week later and I get the same room again. The marks on the sheets are still here! They do not change the sheets! they just make the bed! the marks on the carpet from where my cooler sat were still there! so they do not vacuum the carpets. and there is dead mosquitoes in the tub. Is completely disgusting place and I will not ever stay here again.

Having grown up in Cortland, I remember this motel as having a reputation and not a good one. However the recent reviews seemed good and it was a much better deal than the chains so I went for it and had no regrets. The room was clean, surprisingly modern, and the bed was very comfortable. And now Cortland has a cool coffee shop called Bru so being able to walk to there was a big plus Would definitely stay again!

I stayed at the Twilight Lodge for one evening planning to meet a friend the next day at his family's condo. The room was comfortable and cozy. Greg was a wonderful, friendly and accommodating host. He even helped me to find a place to eat midweek during covid at 9 at night, then called me a half an hour later to make sure I had found the place okay. In the morning there was a lovely assortment of bagels breakfast cereals coffee and juice. Though the place is very unassuming and nothing lavish I would stay there again in a minute.

Decided on The Beachcomber based on the reviews, location and amenities (i.e., onsite restaurant and lake front property) and the super friendly correspondence with the owner prior to arriving. A little unexpected turn of events made it that the restaurant was closed, but Mary Alice did her best to make our stay enjoyable. A bonfire was lit when we arrive back from dinner our last night there. Great recommendations were given on where to eat in the area. The Ember Woodfire Grill in Livonia was excellent! The seasonable boaters that came on and off the water were friendly as well. It was probably a blessing that the restaurant was closed because I have no idea where we would have parked if we had gone out for the evening. At first, I was surprised how close to the road the door to the rooms were, but got over it. For the price paid, I would have expected a better mattress. It made sleeping very difficult. It was incredibly worn. The furniture was very outdated as well, but if it's clean, that is what matters. Overall, we had a great time. If the restaurant is open and you love the nightlife, you would probably like the Beachcomber. Mary Alice is delightful!
